I purchased this calculator for my sister who is studying for her finance degree and being an owner of many Texas Instruments calculators, I highly recommend it to both business and science students. It is user friendly and someone who is not a "math person" can learn to use it. There are other calculators out there that are less expensive but you get what you pay for and Texas Instruments will not let you down. Mine have lasted for many years through many uses and with new ones coming out in fun colors I find myself giving them away so I can purchase a new one in a fun color! I am a science and math teacher in a community college plus I have a tutoring business. these are the only calculators I use for the high school and college students. I have purchased Texas instruments calculator for younger students and for myself as a basic calculator. You will be pleased with the calculator plus Walmart makes it easy to afford it with their great prices.

I am a sophomore in high school and I will be taking AP Calculus soon. This class also has a bit of Trigonometry. I have tried various mathematical problems, ranging from the most complex, to the simplest of them all. After doing so, I learned that this calculator is very efficient and fast in solving practically any math problem the average high schooler will see. In addition to its efficiency, it allows for multiple applications which you can easily download from a computer. I have to admit, though, that the buttons and controls may be a bit confusing to someone new to the TI calculator series. However, with a bit of practice and reading, this calculator will be simple. The TI-84 plus is truly a good option for a student in need of a graphing calculator, but isn't wealthy enough to afford those flashy, color calculators.

This gold standard calculator was on sale here and cost barely more than the TI-84, so I had to jump on it. There was a nice magenta color which my daughter would have loved, so I thought I selected it. But when I picked it up, it was black. Disappointed, I realized that all the various colors had the exact same SKU and webpage. In other words, you have no control of the color. I think this is a bad business decision for Walmart. No one wants to be surprised like that anymore, in this day of computerized inventory. Just list the exact color, or else there will inevitably be some disappointed customers who hoped it would be one color or another.

Actually purchased this for my high school freshman, was recommended to use for algebra. It's the second TI-84 that we've purchased in the last couple years as my high school junior is also using the same for pre calculus. We researched and looked it to upgrading the original calculator and getting a more detailed calculator but the TI-84 plus really has it all including being able to use on the ACT and SAT. For the most part both my kids were able to figure out using it fairly easy although school is helpful. They should be sable to use these into college and with more advanced math classes. Comes with cable for downloading data too. Look around for best price, we purchased from Walmart for under $100 :)

This has been a great calculator and I expect it to be the last one I need to get through school. The buttons are good, the display is clear, and the color screen is nice. One thing that could be a negative (or positive depending on your view point) is that the battery needs to be charged (maybe once every 1-2 months) whereas the calculators that take AA batteries typically have lasted 1-2 years before replacing them. Maybe the color screen requires more power. A plus is the calculator is thinner than other models since there are no AA batteries.

My son needed this calculator for 7th grade math. Luckily, it will be the same calculator required 8-12th grades because they are expensive. The newer design is more sleek than the one I used in school. They no longer require batteries so they are lighter and fit better in a binder better. That does mean they will have to keep up with another charger though. I love the 2 color display on graphs. It makes it easier to compare lines and determine points of intersection. The functions are the same as other TI models. I would recommend this model if your child is required to use a TI 84. The cost is a few dollars higher, but will prove to be more helpful in class.

This calculator is incredible. Bought it for graphing functions but found a whole lot of other things it wants to do. However!! You gotta get some kind of manual also. There's a user guide online that's woefully inadequate. I go to youtube a lot for explanations. A lot of the clips there are for previous versions of the calculator and are hard to translate to the one I have, the ti84 plus CE with python. Right now I got a Dummies guide from the library that is helping. If there are any bookstores left that you can browse in maybe you can find the one you need.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I've got to say this is a great calculator, I didnt think I'd learn to use and enjoy the color feature of it, but in the end it really is helpful when using graphs, tables, and lists on the calculator; overall the functionality stays relatively the same as it's predecessor's, but it does have some really nice quality of life features added onto them. Overall I would recommend for anyone looking for a good calculator for school and such, it's really been quite helpful to me as a student.

I spent all of my sophomore year in highschool using a TI-84 silver edition and I loved it! Over the summer I decided I wanted to go out and get a TI-84 silver edition with color and I quickly realized I had made a great decision. Here are some quick pros and cons:\n\nPROS:\n-rechargeable\n-has very nice color display\n-very similar to the original to-84 (function wise)\n\nCONS\n-I notice it is a bit delayed when calculating answers (in comparison with the original TI-84). Although, it's an acute delay which is fine with me.\n\nOverall, It's great!

For the few extra dollars, I would recommend this calculator. As an upper level high school math teacher the color graphics is a big plus when exploring graphing. I like the charging of calculator over batteries. This calculator is slimmer and lighter than others. I would buy this calculator if needed for Algebra 2 and pursuing advance math courses. ( If you are taking Alg 1 and pursuing advance math classes would buy.). Otherwise, if this doesn't matter to you the TI 84 or TI 83 would be fine.

A great calculator. It works as it should, no issues. It is for a middle schooler who is taking some higher math classes and an engineering class. Math that is above my level. The key layout is easy to use and follow. The display is easy to read for a screen of its size. The calculator to the rescue. It graphs easily enough with the proper inputs. Nice because it has the sleeve/cover that slides on and off. It was also on sale so that helped. I have no complaints and I recommend it.

I am currentky a college student entolled at Northwest Arkansas Community College and this particular calculator has done me well! Ive taken quite a few math classes the 2 1/2 years ive been there and i dont know how i would have managed with this! You can do nearly any problem you can imagine on it. Especially once you figure out all the tips and tricks that are hidden in the on it! It’s a very fast and convient calculator to have on hand and I would recommend to anyone!

The Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus graphing calculator has been great for my teenage son that is doing high school AP classes and college courses. This calculator was approved for the mandatory state high school exams and college exams for Florida. My son has owned this calculator for several months and has not complained one time about malfunctions. I felt I paid a little too much for the calculator, but it was way cheaper than other brands on the market.

My high school daughter's Pre-Calc teacher recommended this calculator for her students. It arrived about 75% charged, and my daughter has been using this week in class and has not had to charge it yet. It comes with a rigid plastic cover that slides off the front and can slide on the back for the time that she is using the calculator--I love that! My daughter was delighted to see that it has the periodic table on it--could be handy for Chemistry too.

This calculator is a good calculator. If I was buying the standard TI-84 CÊ I would of given it 5 stars but I thought I was buying the TI-84 CE python as per the description. Unfortunately it is not the python edition. The calculator description is miss labeled and miss leading.

I'm taking statistics class and the professor advised us to get the TI 84, said the 83 would also work, but that it'd be better to get the 84. I decided to get the TI 84 CE and its definitely worth it! Its really easy to use, and not at all complicated. The battery life is also great. LOVE IT and since it's easy to use, it's making my "difficult" class seem like a walk in the park. Would definitely recommend.

The TI line of graphing calculators are the standards by which all others are judged. The 84 is a great tool for a high school or college student not requiring all the additional features of TI's higher-end products. I've always felt that one gets a good value from TI, but if this calculator was $80.00 as opposed to close to $100, I don't think Walmart could keep them on the shelff.\n\nAll in all, a great product.

Thanks Walmart . We were able to get an excellent rollback price on this required calculator. Our middle son now needs one for Algebra class this yr. This is our 2nd graphing calculator from the TI84 family. The 1st is 3yrs old, has been very dependable, and has held up great to daily use during the school yr. As a teacher, I know the importance of seeing a visual representation of a problem for many students. Having the color graphs, makes that so much easier to see and differentiate between different graphs on the same screen. Having the rechargeable battery eliminates the excuse of not having batteries. Not only will this great investment last from middle school through college math with all fuctions one could possibly need, it also has the capacity to code in video games. Fantastic calculator. I had the TI-99 but it was actually too complicated. This is one step down but added color. The multiple colors on the graphs helps considerably. \n\nI am an adjunct professor at a local University and use it for both my Modeling Algebra and Pre-Calculus courses.
