I was originally looking to get a PS5 but of course they were out of stock. I felt like this was more in my price range anyway, and I wasn't particular on which console brand I use (coming from Switch).\n\nI love the size. I feel like they probably really took into consideration how often people bring their consoles to their friends, family members, and general travel. It takes up such little space on my desk, and I love that I can have it standing.\n\nI did buy a less expensive external storage which only works with 360 games. I just couldn't justify the Seagate because I don't game enough to need it. The controller isn't as cool as the PS5 (which I now have) but it's cheaper, still good, and you have the Design Lab on Xbox's site.\n\nKeep in mind that you only get something like 350 GB of space because the 512 GB doesn't count the actual system, so you fill-up the remaining quickly if you want a lot of games.\n\nIt's never overheated. I mostly play Fortnite (and got the Fortnite version) but have never felt like I was overusing it even after all day play.\n\nWhile the PS5 has a cool design, it's HUGE compared to this, and I really just like the design of the Xbox Series S more. I don't have disks though so I really get the benefit of a smaller console.\n\nXbox Game Pass is also better to me than Playstation Plus. I feel like you have to pay more with Playstation because while you get live with the $10 subscription and 3 free games a month, you don't get access to their catalog until you pay more. And their catalog isn't as great imo. With Xbox, if you don't need live and cloud gaming, it's only $10/mo for their catalog and discounts. If you do want live and cloud it's $5 more. I compared the two and just felt like Game Pass was more suited to my needs than PS Plus.\n\nIf you don't need to use disks, don't need a lot of space or don't mind buying more, want a sleek and small design, don't want to break the bank, want a console that's easy to travel with, and don't want to wait months and months for it to finally be in stock I would definitely go with the Series S!

I’ll start by saying that up until purchasing this console, I’ve owned everything but an Xbox. There’s been N64, GameBoy Advance, GameCube, PS2, Wii, PS2, PS3, and PS4. Never an Xbox. For the longest time having grown up on the influence of console wars, I’ve always ignorantly thought PS was the better console and Xbox has nothing to offer. I’ve played the 360 a few times and had no experience with the XB1. Coming from the PS4 it’s the smoothest and most satisfying console I’ve played. Transitions between games are seamless including the Quick Resume feature which essentially allows you to have multiple games open just by switching between them. The selection is always mocked because of PS’ well known exclusives, although Xbox has great ones of their own. Some including Gears of War, Halo, Forza, Sea of Thieves, and now their exclusivity deal with Bethesda to launch their future titles on Microsoft platforms. Aside from the games, as I previously stated the transitions are seamless thanks to the SSD (be prepared to buy storage expansion). The UI is extremely convenient once you get used to it, Game Pass is great value for what you’re paying, the performance can hang with the Series X (especially if you don’t have an HDR/4K capable TV), the recording/streaming quality is an upgrade along with the speed that it saves your clips at being very quick (again coming from a PS4). All in all, I’ve only owned this console for one day and I can see myself using it for a thousand more. Highly recommend if you’re looking to try out an Xbox or if you’re looking to upgrade from a One/One S, it could also just serve as portable gaming for anyone who travels frequently.

This past year has brought many surprises and the sheer amount of fun I've had with the Series S has definitely been one of them. I abstained from owning an Xbox console last generation, having owned all iterations of the PS4. Unable to attain a PS5 during launch, I opted to give Xbox another go and was able to land a Series S.\n\nThe first thing I noticed was how small the console is, even in comparison to the PS4 slim. Setup was easy enough, though setup requires the utilization of a mobile device and the Xbox app. Once everything was setup, the first thing I wanted to test was performance with Apex Legends. \n\nApex Legends is a great cross generation test. Given its size, I wasn't sure it would handle the game as well as the PS4 Pro. I was wrong. Not only did the console keep pace with Frames Per Second (FPS) with the PS4 Pro, but it remained quiet and cool throughout my gaming sessions. \n\nAccess to Gamepass Ultimate is HUGE. It's been a tremendous amount of fun to play games from the Xbox 360 generation again and have access to and play games from the previous Xbox generation. Having reached the end of Netflix and every other streaming service, this has been a breath of fresh air and an absolute blast. We tested out Gears of War 1 - 3, Forza Horizon 4, Doom Eternal and more. I have both a series S and an X. The series S gets used in the living room and it's definitely worth the money. I mean you can pay 200 dollars for an apple tv box and it doesn't play games. There is 4k video for your video apps, and up to 1440p 120hz if the game supports it. I'm a PC person when it comes to playing games but I still use a controller. The series S does cool things my PC doesn't like, quick resume, games load a little quicker, but there's a caveat older games have to be optimized. I played Yakuza kiwami on series X and it was still 30 fps. But if it's a s/x optimized title then it's pretty much the same game. The games look a little better on an X but that's okay because there's really not that big of a difference. This is a great option for the living room as a main media device. I recommend it, I also recommend game pass. There's only 512mb of storage. There's a couple options like store the games on an external hard drive and then install as needed, or buy a 200 dollar plus 1tb Xbox ssd. Storage hasn't been an issue, because most of the content is easily downloaded from your library, game pass, store, so it's like how many games can you play at once. If you're on the fence and are having trouble getting the device you really want this is a solid buy, you won't regret it. I hope I have helped you in your buying process. Purchased Xbox S on December 17 through Walmart app during one of their timed releases. The Xbox X/S and Play Station5 sold out within a matter of minutes if not seconds. I continued to refresh my page and had all of my payment information already set up so I was successful. \nThe Xbox S was delivered in a timely fashion although it stated it would not be delivered until January 12 it arrived on December 26 in perfect condition.\n\nSetting up the Xbox was easy. The speeds and the picture quality are great. We do have a newer TV with 4K capability but 4K was not really necessary for a 11-year-old. The Xbox has played perfectly fine on all of our TVs with gaming picture just as clear. We like the ease of not having to put in and take out a disk. We are able to switch between games with speed and ease. The only negative thing we would have to say is the amount of memory space. We rectified that by purchasing a Xbox 2 TB memory drive for $80...So we are still under what we would have paid for the Xbox X with more memory. \n\nThis purchase was worth it Despite some of the reviews. My 11 year old son loves to game and he is happy with his new system. I even play games I've download for myself. \n\nExtra tip: get the Ultimate Game Pass it's definitely worth a try for a $1 for the first three months.

After playing on my Xbox Series S for a month now I can say I am happy with this little beast console ! This console can play new Xbox One and old Xbox 360 games if it's backwards compatible. The fast load times are amazing on current Xbox games and the increase frame rates are also very much welcomed. I redownloaded alot of past games just to try out how it stacks against my old Xbox One X there just no comparison to how stable it is plus most games are getting a X/S upgrade to take advantage of the new hardware. Then comes the downside to the Series S the internal hard drive only 346 GB is just way too small to build a library of games. You will constantly be deleting/reinstalling and good luck with updates. Sure you can fix this with buying a external hard drive but gotta sacrifice that fast load time or even the pricy $219 SSD just to maintain that fast load time for only 1 TB. If you can get past the small storage space then I would highly recommend you pick up a Xbox Series S to play your current games/older games at higher speeds or framerate but if your wanting bigger space and more graphical enhances of the new games coming down the line then get a Xbox Series X.

A very awesome compact sized gaming console! It actually arrived at Best Buy a few day's earlier than what was expected. Quick resume works good on some games. Some games can load very fast but other's take a little longer. I don't play too many different games. I play a few arcade games and and 3 standard full sized games - Forza Horizon 4, Rainbow Six Siege and Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO2). I don't have too much concern or need for a larger hard drive. The hard drive that this console comes with is more than good enough for me. I have had absolutely no issues with this awesome little console whatsoever. I also love the fact that this console is an all digital console. I like how games these days are all going digital. I no longer have any need for a blu-ray player either because all my movies are all digital as well. I like using the Vudu app for watching movies or tv shows. I really am considering getting me the Xbox X Series console one day but not anytime soon. My 4k tv doesn't have all the features that my S Series game console calls for but it will definitely do for now. The bottom line about the S Series console is, It's an awesome little console!

I was lucky and randomly found the Xbox Series S online at Walmart one day after I was looking for ( Still am ) a series X, I would like the disk drive for my movie collection and used game's but I still wanted something with the fast load times and the quick resume because the systems are hard to find at face value so I jumped on the S. Had it for over a month now and I'm happy the controller is a great design like the classic Xbox controllers and they have a few updates. The internet speeds seem to be more stable and faster with a smooth UI. It's super small you'll be able to place it anywhere and Game Pass for a monthly fee seems to be really worth it and you'll get to maybe enjoy a game you would never had paid for! It could use use more memory it's around 380gb useable after the system is set up so that's a nice collection of game's depending on size. If you just want to play game's casually and have no use for a disk drive and you can stream video's, use app's, make friends and want the fancy pants system of the new age then get this system it's worth it at not even 320$ USD after tax. Although this has half the storage and less graphical firepower then it’s big brother, this is still a great next gen experience at a compelling value. The core of this value proposition is Xbox Gamepass- for (at the time of this writing) about 15 bucks a month, you get access to a Neflix-like library of curated titles, many of which are Series X/S versions. Even as a guy who didn’t even bother with the last generation of Xbox consoles this is hard to pass up-couple that with next generation loading and quick resume with it’s M.2 solid state hard drive, enhanced visuals over Xbox One X, and 4K streaming with all the popular video apps; this console would make a fantastic compliment to a PS5 or a great value to someone who doesn’t own a 4K display or care about having the latest visual bells and whistles. Now if you don’t have a decent internet connection, I probably wouldn’t recommend this as all it’s content comes from online as it has no disc drive. Otherwise, I’d pull the trigger on this- it’s way easier to find then the PS5 or Series X at the moment.

How do i start. I'm still trying to get me a series X but its really difficult so I just got the series S for now until I have a better chance of getting the X. But if you are someone who wants to step into the next gen of gaming and you dont care about disc games then this console is for you! The storage space ain't much so you might want to get one of those new SSD drives but man are they expensive. But i tested a few games like sea of thieves and see how long it will take to load and boy was it amazing. it took 20 seconds to load me in the game. on the xbox one it would take like 3 to 4 mins. Another big thing is how small this console is. i thought my brothers Xbox one S was small. this thing is just insane highly recommend but only for $299 dont pay more for it. Its not hard to get this console but cant say the same for the Series X.

Pros:\nGreat price for a powerful system! Got this as a gift for my mom very small and compact. The setup was super easy with the Xbox app and Gamepass means she has a wide variety of games to choose from. She started with Tetris and now is addicted to Minecraft (was kinda surprised she would be into a first person game). I can't recommend this enough as a good buy and a great way for families to game especially with Gamepass. Also the fact that you can stream games from Your Xbox to your Phone is a major plus. I do recommend the Razer Kishi controller attachment for your games but it essentially turns your phone into a switch as less than half the price (buy getting the Kishi)\n\nCons:\nNot as much memory as the Xbox series X

Just picked it up today. Iam writing this review to help out people. Don’t be to worried about the storage. If you had an External hard drive. From your old console. It will work on this system. Your old games that are not x/s up grades will still play from the hard drive you have. Games that are up graded put on the internal hard drive. The console is very small but powerful. Super quiet. Iam coming for the Xbox one s. This new system downloads games super fast and loads way faster then the other. For people that play destiny load took forever. Not with this system. Iam playing on 1080p monitor. And games look so much better. Hope this helps people. Glad I upgraded to this system.

This was a birthday present for my fiancé and he yelled out of surprise and excitement and then he teared up quite a bit. The console came in excellent condition and we had it set up and going within minutes. It's difficult to get any time on it myself because of how thoroughly he loves this console. Amazing purchase well worth the money. I would recommend buying new, the horror stories about buying used ones are awful and not worth the risk to save not much money. (We don't have a ton of disposable income but I guarantee that it will be less expensive and time consuming to just buy new, Walmart had the best price at the time of my ordering). So very very satisfied!

Walmart had cancelled my pre order, but I was lucky enough I went to the store and there was one in stock that employee told me and everyone else there was the “old Xbox” which I’m glad he did cause it meant I got it. \nThis is an amazing console. Don’t listen to the internet saying this is a “bad” or “cheap” console. The storage is enough I can fit 9 games (including big titles like cyberpunk, destiny, red dead 2) so it’s enough space you’ll be happy with. And the performance and graphics are amazing, don’t listen to reviews. It runs COD Cold War at 4K 120fps.\nYou should buy one if you can find one. And it’s so compact it’s barely bigger than my switch.

The Series S is adorable! It's small but has a weight to it which surprised me when I got out out of the box. Coming from the Xbox One S this is a really nice upgrade, not only am I getting faster load times but more consistent frame rate and even higher frame rate if I had a TV that supported it. Many talk about the storage but I myself don't mind it that much since I came from the 500GB Xbox One S which has the same about of storage just one GB extra so I'm used to it, It also don't have a disc drive but I don't mind it as well since all my games are digital. Overall this felt like a great purchase in my opinion, I love this little guy!

Ignore the people saying ps5 is better, or that the console is garbage, or even a budget console, this thing is a BEAST I've had it for less than 2 hours and I'm loving it. 299 is an ABSOLUTE STEAL for this value, I cant run 120fps because I dont have a 120hz display, but i can run at quality mode since I'm not sacrificing anything. This is the MOST AWESOME THING IVE EVER BOUGHT, if you're thinking about buying this or the series X, the series s is amazing for you if you dont have a 4k 144hz tv or monitor, def get series x if you have a 4k 144hz monitor or tv. Other than all that, amazing purchase, 11/10 would reccomend.

This is my first Xbox console ever and I have to say I'm impressed, I don't get why people say this console is a waste of money because the Xbox Series S does in fact give a next-gen experience. It may not support native 4k but does an amazing job at ray-tracing. And if the game is optimized it can run at 120FPS which is something the Xbox One X wasn't able to do. I also really love the quick resume feature it's very useful. I recommend this console but do take in consideration that the storage of this console is very limited and you have to accept going all-digital for this console.

Perfect secondary system for the price, good for people who own gaming pcs. I love the ssd. This generation of xbox consoles actually compete with gaming pcs, which I haven't seen in over 7 years. The graphics on this console are stunning, but I am sure the Xbox Series X looks even better. For pc gamers, this console packs about the same graphics performance as an RTX 2060, while the Series X packs performance comparable to an RTX 2080. It costs $300 just for an RTX 2060 alone, which is why this is such a good deal.

Needed a new console for Hogwarts Legacy and this was exactly what my budget needed. Super affordable yet a powerful console. I've had no issues thus far and the quality is by far stunning. The console is tinier and heavier than I expected but packs a punch. I very much recommended this if you want to next gen on a budget. Only downside is it's internal memory: 512 GB. That's not much for anything. 5-6 games max if you're lucky. Other than than, it's worth it. Just know it's disc-less so you can't play physical games.

Significantly faster than my Xbox One X. For reference, GTA Online loaded in about 1½mins compared to the usual 3 .\nGraphically phenomenal at 4K or 1440p, my TV doesn't have a HDMI 2.1 port (yet) so games only max out at 60fps.\n\nThe main differences between this, and the Series X, is that this console is moreso designed for 1440p 120fps gaming. The Series X can do 4K at 120fps. You can't do either if your TV doesn't have an HDMI 2.1 port, so it's not a big deal, unless you're a a diehard for max graphics.

The last game system I bought was an Xbox 360 well over a decade ago. I've played original Atari %26 NES. I like that I dont have to have physical games as in storing them. But there's something to be said for just putting in a game disc and being able to play. No log in or waiting for something to update or download. I downloaded Halo, and even with FIOS, it took nearly an hour for it to download before I could even open the game. Overall, I do like it.

Great Buy in my opinion, it's fast start up for games I don't have to wait 5-10 minutes to play a game, it's now takes 10 seconds to a minute when starting up a game. The graphics are over all decent at 4K 60 FPS but the quality you get at 1440p 120 FPS much cleaner and smoother games other than console I've played on. also most Old Xbox games got remastered it's looks like when playing it on the new Xbox. it about keeps up with a PC but not as good as one tho

If you play a lot of games and care about 4K resolution then get the X. If you don't play a lot of games and only rotate between 2-4 games and dont care for 4K resolution then this bad boy is for you, the S still runs at 1440p so even without 4K the graphics and gameplay are really crisp. I was on PS4 last for last gen then I made the switch to Xbox for the New Gen, what really sold me on the Series S was the DESIGN the price tag was just the icing on the cake for me.

Item works great but FedEx delivered this package like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. When the package was dropped off, the interior and exterior box was ripped up and taped over to try to hold it together. It looked awful and if the product had any scratches or did not work, I would have demanded a refund. But the product was safe and works great. Fire your delivery team!!

The storage is a bit lower then expected, I hate having to get rid of a game that I somewhat enjoy just to download another to play with one of my friends. And I’ve already a bit of stick inside the right stick as well. But other then that everything is running well, everything’s fast and it looks good. Im so amazed how this console can play these really nice graphics and how It runs perfectly! So worth the money! And the console itself looks very nice too! I love it! The Xbox has a huge library of games to play and download. And you can download many apps to play music like Apple Music or watch YouTube/netflix. And you can even use internet browser to search the web. Great Console!
