Real wood. It is super sturdy and went through a kiln. One shelf was damaged at the screw hole and I was sent a replacement promptly. I bought an oil to keep it in good shape. The paint/coating is chalky and does come off a bit at first so a good oiling does wonders. It holds a ton of books and I've had it for about a year. I love it was well worth the money. Would recommend for anyone who wants a real wood shelf that is deep, holds a lot, is sturdy, and isn't opposed to oiling.

Very sturdy and attractive! I'm glad it has an open back so I can have my printer on the shelf. Assembling it was a bit of a pain by myself, remember the beveled edges of the shelves point outward! For the price it is a great unit. Highly recommended.

I bought two of these bookcases and couldn’t be happier. They were easy to assemble, made of solid wood, and are a very beautiful addition to my room. if you’re looking for solid bookcases that won’t fall apart then these will definitely make you happy.

I wasn't sure about this bookshelf when I took it out of the box, but I love it! It is a little more "raw" that I thought but only in some places. I actually like the imperfections. My kids love\nto read and all of their books fit. It is functional, solid, heavy, and it looks good! Very sturdy if you are looking for a solid wood piece. It took me a while to put together but the average person could do it in an hour or a little more.

very Lorge bookcase, large enough and sturdy enough for me to stack books two deep, which is just what I wanted. Some natural flaws in the wood, which I don\u2019t mind. Definitely preferable to the compressed plywood stuff. Was able to put it together myself in one evening, although it would be easier with two.
