I have owned this unit now for more than 3 years. I really like it, overall. The power is clean and strong. Most amplifiers tend to over-exaggerate their power ratings and efficiency. But, I have found this unit to power various speakers, flawlessly. \r\n \r\nI like the remote. This remote has most everything on it that is on the face of the unit. It has balance controls, EQ controls, and easily switches channels with no pop or residual noise from various inputs. This is one of the BEST remotes I have ever owned for a receiver. \r\n \r\nBut, here's the problem. I have had many problems with the Bluetooth on this unit. I have followed the directions perfectly. Yet, it will often not disconnect from a previous BT controller. And, it will not find most devices I try to connect to it. The blue light blinks. All of the proper buttons have been pushed. However, the Bluetooth on my unit appears to be faulty. \r\n \r\nSince this has been the only problem with it, I never sent it back in for an exchange. I have looked online for additional support and answers, which has led me to believe that my unit is faulty, and it is not User Error. \r\n \r\nSo, if you want flawless Bluetooth connections that connect easily with the multitude of manufacturers out there, you definitely might want to check this unit upon receipt to find out if it has a similar problems as my unit. \r\n \r\nOtherwise, I am quite pleased with this Receiver. I have been a fan and a consumer of Yamaha Products for over 30 years. Most often, no problems and very nice gear.

When my previous amplifier suddenly died, I went through a period of wondering if I should bother replacing it. In our recent house, we mostly get music through a smart TV with a speaker bar system, and our speaker system that goes with the CD and cassette player (yes, I still have CD's and cassettes -- a lot of them) no longer has a sub-woofer. \r\n \r\n \r\nThis receiver checked enough boxes that I decided to continue maintaining my traditional component system. It had all the connections I currently need, it had enough power to make good sound through my great room, I have had previous good experiences with Yamaha components so I trusted the brand, and it was relatively inexpensive, which was important when I was considering ditching the component system. \r\n \r\n \r\nTwo weeks in, I am thoroughly happy with my decision. I considered 4 star because it isn't as powerful as what I used to have, my speakers aren't capable of generating perfect sound now (this amp doesn't pretend to be audiophile grade), and I don't have any long-term durability record (other reviews were concerned about that). However, I decided it should be 5 star because it is doing everything I asked of it, which included being low price.

People sniveling about this receiver are whining because they want to hook it up to their television I stead of listening to MUSIC!<br \/>\r\nThis unit has amazing power and clarity with excellent Bluetooth function. It also controls the preamp outputs such that they modulate synchronous with the main volume control.<br \/>\r\nIn our Party Barn we have the Yamaha powering the main speaker set of a custom dual subwoofer box crossed over to Cerwin Vega D2 speakers for the rest of the spectrum in the center of the barn...<br \/>\r\nThe Yamaha has 2 Technics 110wpc class A no switching integrated amps slaved to it . Each Technics amp is powering its own pair of Cerwin Vega D7 speakers at each end of the barn.<br \/>\r\nThe Yamaha controls the show via Bluetooth as well as the variable preamp outputs slaving the volumes of the Technics amps right along with it...<br \/>\r\nFor this price point this receiver has no equal..11 I have 4 of them in different areas from shop to barn to great room to the gym area...<br \/>\r\nBut that's just me... A true audiophile of over 50 years who uses receivers and amps to listen to music instead of watching TV....

I have had this receiver for about two years, and I am really happy with it. I am so glad Yamaha came out with a product like this. Totally bear bones, no-frills with just the two things you really need: bluetooth connectivity so you can play from any device, and clean, powerful amplification.\n\n\nTo get this kind of power and sound quality in an AVR you are going to be paying several times the price, and your money will be going toward a lot of features you may not need - loads of HDMI inputs, surround sound processors, etc. For home theater you need it. But for a two-channel system it is just wasted money. \n\n\nI have paired this Yamaha with different bookshelf speakers up and down the range. Currently I have them connected to some Mordaunt-Short Mezzo 2s and let me tell you - they sound so clear and beautiful, and they can REALLY KICK!\n\nCompared to the price of some of the powered bluetooth speaker systems out there, for similar money you can get this receiver and a pair of budget bookshelves and have something infinitely better. Great buy!

I live in a hilly area where FM is sketchy and only few stations come trough, but AM radio rules. Radio is great, and both AM and FM antennas work well. Interestingly, Yamaha seems to be the only one on the market with FM. On the amplifier side it works with an older JVC tape deck, but if I want to listen to vinyl, an additional preamp is needed on the way to the receiver, receiver's amplifier alone won't work. Once preamp is in place all sounds fine. The Bluetooth is the receive mode to play from the devices. This is not a send mode Bluetooth to Bluetooth speakers, as some users assume.

Impressive receiver. Have it hooked up to Klipsch RM-14 bookshelf speakers. Sound is great, crisp, and freaking loud when you turn up the volume! Wanting to try and connect 2nd pair of speakers. Checked other reviews and prices. Also, it was one of the beat budget stereo receivers for 2020. I would strongly recommend the product to others and to shop there too. Always depend on ABT to carry premium products. Staff is friendly, helpful, and very professional. Never had a negative experience while shopping there.

I was looking for something to drive some old speakers and upgrade the bedroom with stereo separation and get rid of a cobbled Bluetooth solution. It drives a twenty-year-old Acoustimas set up and fills the room effortlessly. The sleep timer and the treble and base adjustment on the remote make transitions form jazz to rock a few taps. It inspired me to drag a CD player out of the archives to up the resolution. For the price I think I did really well.

I had old units that have RCA Connectors and I didn't want to replace them. I searched using ChatGPT and other tools and could not find the right units. All the information to be the buy a particular unit but they all had HDMI units. Joe knew right away what I needed and recommended a Yamaha that was the perfect fit for my needs. Reasonably priced and I received it the next day...in time to play music for Christmas. Could not have been better service.

Great little stereo receiver with ample power for my needs. I bought the Yamaha R-S202 receiver to drive my Polk Audio Signature Elite ES-20 bookshelf speakers (also purchased from B&H) for my small office (10x12' room) and it does a great job. Plugged in my Audio Technica AT-LP120XUSB through the Line 1 input and all is well. Fast delivery to Colorado too! Thanks again B&H!

I have been a fan of Yamaha receivers since the 1980s. Reasonably priced, good looking, flexible, good quality, and great crisp sound. My preference when buying receivers is sound quality over features. I want the best sound for the money, rather than more features. Having said that, I wouldn't have minded more flexibility to sculpt the sound than simple bass/treble controls.

Been using this receiver and have been very happy with it. I have 2 Yahama speakers connected to it. Corresponds very well with them and my audio technica turntable. Dropped a star because Bluetooth range isn’t so great. I have to keep my phone relatively close to the receiver to keep playing without interruption. As a comparison, my HomePod has better range when using Bluetooth. Still great overall, easy to use, and would recommend.

I use this for a shelf system in a bedroom and it works great for FM/AM radio, connection to a CD player and I have the Yamaha speakers for that sound great. I just have never been able to get the Bluetooth unit to pair, which is annoying because I use my phone for streaming music most of the time these days. I have seen other reviewers have trouble with connecting with the Bluetooth on this unit as well.

Powers my klipsch r-14m perfectly. While I waited for the speakers to come in I had a extra speaker from a different set laying around and it made it sing. Great receiver. It has this musical tone to it that is just perfectly warm. I can’t recommend this enough. Perfect for a stereo set up or what ever you use it for.
