I had a GE RB790 and the burners on top heated up rapidly for a glasstop to the number I chose with the knob. This thing after six minutes on five for two cups of water and one cup of oatmeal, is not bubbling, begining to cook/boil. I takes much longer. My old range wore out the burners and would not boil a large pot of water, this one is new and will work very well up near high, but take much too long on lower settings. I may have to get used to starting out on high and then setting the timer I have and the temp on the stovetop to get how much time it take to do oatmeal with this stovetop, but at least it is new and I can scortch the corn meal off the bottom, but this stove tend to burn everything. I have listened to other people I know and they say all the new stoves are this way now, the glass top might have got thicker or the thermostat is not "smart" enough to target the correct temp that I choose with the temp knob. I hope I get this figured out, but in order not to burn I better expect three time as much time to heat up. I like the extra watts when it comes to a large stock pot heat up, such as a gallon in a five gallon pot. Expect to re-train yourself.\nI have posted three pics and the first is backwards from ten minutes, reads 2:02 (8 min) about 170F. Then next pic is 10 min, not boiling. #3 pic is timer reset counting backwards to 4:02 (18minutes) and light bibbles as to boil some, ready for oat meal at about 16-18 minutes on temperature knob setting of 5, five. This seems to me at least twice as long and more like three times as long.\nSolution was to preheat the stove top on 10 for a full minute then as I did yesterday to cook hotdogs, lower the temp to about 3.5 to 4 and dont turn back up or I did burn them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This stove is a replacement for my last GE electric stove that worked great for 23 years. I replaced it because all lettering on the high back control panel had been washed off for many years, and the top was a little scratched. My new one has a large instant-hot burner where my old stove had a medium sized burner. I miss the medium size. Also, the control knobs on my old stove were heavy, solid black plastic. Easy to clean. The new ones are cheap, lightweight gray plastic with a cheap chrome like film over them. One knob cover film ripped upon installation. GE sent me a full set of the cheap knows for free. I wish I had the old black knows back. Also, the crisper doesn't seem amy different than using the broil function. Otherwise it is a good working stove top and oven.

This is my first time using a glass top stove and everything heats up really fast. I love the extra large burner that can be made smaller, it’s so perfect for my large cast iron. The only complaint I have is that every little smudge or crumb shows up. I’ll wipe it down and by the time it dries I see streaks. It’s pretty frustrating. I’m hoping there’s just a learning curve and I’ll figure out the secret. lol oh I also don’t like how easy it is if pans get slid that it makes a gritty noise. But it honestly is a great stove for cooking and baking. I would give it 5, but the noise and smudging would have me reconsidering if I were the one making the next purchase and I feel like buyers should know in case these are things that’d bother them.

The bake option seems a little cool requiring additional time probably because the heating element is under the steamer pan. The controls for this oven work well however the safety light indicating the top is hot is marginally adequate I would’ve liked to see a larger indication light as we have already Not seen the light on with a hot element because it blends into the busy display.\n I am overall happy with the purchase for it’s functionality. I hope the electronics and heating elements last 21 years, as or longer than the previous unit this is replacing.

Allowing the ability to turn on the oven from a device is incredibly useful- of course you have the ability to also enable and cancel (turn off) the oven, light, timer, and cook time as well. Also with location allowed, you\u2019ll never leave with the oven on again. I believe this is true with the stovetop as well, though you must manually turn the knobs at the appliance, you are alerted that it\u2019s still on when you\u2019re no longer at the same location (just outside the home). Very cool features! Also place leftover oven dish in and begin reheating when you\u2019re ready, or have a cake or brownies ready to go and just start the oven with a cook time for auto-off upon cook time completion.

Just had Range JB480S2SS installed. We like the front controls, what we wanted so not reaching over a hot surface of cookware in use. The oven control is a rheostat type knob, where rotate the knob to set the oven temperature. There is a few degrees of rotate looseness, kind of like a car with loose steering. Mindful of that, so center the loose play on a temperature setting, with an oven thermometer hanging from a oven rack, the middle level, the temperature runs 30 degrees hot. There is no way to adjust for this like an electronic oven.. just have to be mindful of this when baking. I'll have to press "will recommend to a friend ", but no practical time used with it yet.

I love the range except reading the stovetop controls on the back of the range. The stainless glares too much and I have to move my head about for them to show up. I'm considering making some stickers for each of the settings. It is hard to see if I'm selecting the large or small burner option; quite a problem. \nI had another problem with the controls. Most controls go from lowest to highest setting as do some of these. However, on other burners, the highest setting is right next to where it is shut off. I thought I had turned off the stove top, but had stopped at that last place and burned up a pan. Consistency would be safer as would from low to off. Not intuitive.

We chose this model due to the controls being up front and it having a drawer. Suggested improvements:\r\n1. Put a push feature on the oven control to turn on. We accidentally leaned on it and turned the oven on without knowing.\r\n2. The backsplash is another reason we chose it, but it would be nice if it had a clock and made with fingerprint proof material. We bought a magnetic clock to put on the backsplash so it would not look so empty.\r\n\r\nSo far the oven and stove work as expected.\r\nMy suggestions, I think, would make a better product. \r\nThis was the only stove that had a back splash and controls upfront.

I was used to the GE profile, which had on the front edge of the cooktop an indicator box. The box had a light connected to each burner. When the burner was in use and until such point it wasn't hot, a corresponding red light would show. The indicator light on this model is a light on the back panel under the clock, indicating the cooktop is in use. Anyone entering the kitchen, not aware I was at the stove, could put something ontop of the cooktop not knowing which burner had been engaged.\n\nI have used the Pizza function and that is a great feature.

I've just bought this range, so the 5 stars is hopeful. What prompted me to review it already is that its plainness, which I find elegant and for me is its best feature, some other reviewers find disappointing. My last range, a 15-year-old GE, which this one replaces, had digital touch pad whatnot, i.e. timer, clock, etc. Over time, the touch pad digital controls for everything became crummy looking and always needed nearly constant cleaning themselves. I so appreciate that this one is mechanical and has the controls on the front. The previous range had the annoying feature of the controls for the back burners interfering with actually using those burners--I hardly ever used those burners over the entire 15 years I had that range. Based on that experience, I expect this range to be entirely satisfactory.

I just bought this range and had it delivered; it works great but my one complaint has to do with the fact that it wasn't clear that when you order an appliance like this, an electrical cord does not automatically come with it and there are no suggestions to add it on if you're not having it installed by the delivery driver. I understand the reasoning for not having an electrical cord come with the purchase automatically but there should be items listed below that you can add on which there currently is not.

The oven/stove is nice, however if you cook at anything below 400 it seems that the food doesnt get completely done even when cooked for longer than what it's supposed to be cooked. The front right burner will not allow you to simmer. If something calls to bring to a boil and reduce heat, the heat will not reduce..it just stays so hot it boils...even for several minutes after turning that burner completely off. The only thing that keeps this from being a five star rating is what appears to be an afterthought in the design of the drawer below the oven. Instead of a handle or grip of some sort the designers positioned a groove in the middle of the top of the drawer forcing you to pull out the drawer with your finger tips.

I just purchased my new electric oven. I’ve never had an electric glass top. The only reason I bought one was to stop from cleaning all the grill too much work so far we only had ours for maybe a month I really like it. The only thing like everyone has comment is trying to keep the glass top clean and it does stain right away when you’re cooking you have to constantly be wiping wiping, but so far it has been working really well everything

We bought this range July 2026. Functionally, it is really nice. We don't buy appliances with a lot of bells and whistles and this one fits what we were looking for. I am rating it a four because when the oven is on and in the higher temps, the front outer rim of the stovetop gets extremely hot. Not just warm, but really too hot to touch. Bad design? We no longer have small children, but if I did I would be concerned with this model.

Everything seems to work as designed. Some of the UI on the control panel is a bit confusing, and since the timer doesn't show seconds until it's under a minute, it's not immediately clear whether the timer has started running.\nVoice control through Google Home would be beneficial as well. The oven can be connected to the Google Home app, but it really doesn't do anything other than tell you it's on or off.

We've just installed this range, in an effort to shift from gas to electric, to reduce emissions and reduce indoor air pollution. It looks good and is a big visual improvement over our old gas stove. There are three models with similar features, we chose the one with crisp mode rather than the one that has a built in air fryer, with the thought that with fewer features, less can go wrong.

The air fryer setting on this is an absolute joke. It takes double the time or more of my countertop version and doesn't make anything crispy but some of the smaller French fries. Chicken? Soggy. Taquitos? Might as well microwave them. Pizza pockets? Don't bother. And yeah, I got the special "air fryer tray"... it absolutely doesn't help and makes a mess. Just very unimpressed overall.

Just a couple of weeks into owning this and for the most part I am happy with the purchase. I like the feature allowing one of the burners to be both a small and large size burner. It allows you to choose the size requirement with one control by using the same control knob. My only complaint would be the storage compartment is a little hard to get on track if you fully remove it.

Difficult to keep top looking clean and shining. Works great but I can see where someone could get burned by a hot eye because there isn't a light on warning on the top surface. There is a warning on the operating panel but most people won't look at the panel before putting their hand on the stove top or setting something on a hot eye which might melt possibly ruining the eye.

We needed a basic, stainless steel oven with a cooktop (4 burners) to replace our very old (25 year-old) stove which stopped working after a power surge. Everything works as expected. The only negative observation we have is the slightly clunky storage tray underneath the oven. The track could be much smoother and an easy to reach handle would be more convenient.

Having to order without actually seeing it, I was not aware that it had neither a timer nor a sensor to determine when the oven had reached the correct temperature, two especially necessary features in my opinion. The lack of a clock is not a problem for me. On the positive side, the stove top heats quickly, the oven bakes evenly and the broiler is awesome.

Good design - there's a burner size for every purpose, controls are easy to understand and use, cleanup is also pretty easy. The oven heats up quickly and is nice and big. I bake sourdough so the temperature control is important and seems well regulated, and the convection feature is effective too. It's wonderful to have an air fryer built in, as well.

It's hard to replace a range you have used and loved for almost 20 years. Things have changed and once you reach a certain age its not easy to give up the familiar. The range is beautiful. The only thing that frustrates me is that you have done away with white tops which my GE Profile had. I'm going to pick myself up and learn how use my new GE Range.

And it’s only been a month. The lower drawer is not overly useful either. It jammed the first time used. Other than that, so far… I’m happy with the appliance.
