The LG 7.3 cu. ft. SMART Electric Dryer in Alpine White with EasyLoad Door and Sensor Dry Technology is a great dryer and nearly perfect. But there were a few differences we had to get used to and we’re going to start by getting these observations out of the way. The control panel is shiny black and the power button is barely visible. The first time it was used it took a second or two to find it. The cycle settings are written in grey around the dial instead of white so they could be difficult to read. Once you push the power button, it lights up, along with the start/pause button, cycle dial, dry, temperature, dampness and other settings. The light comes on inside the machine once the power is turned on, not when you open the door. The top surface of the dryer is slanted towards the front so you shouldn’t plan on resting anything on top of the cabinet otherwise it could slide off. The dryer door is very cool as it swings in either direction depending on need and it also opens hamper style for loading – very nice. The interior of the machine is bright and the drum has a bright aluminized finish with a large capacity which should accommodate most needs. We noticed that it is very quiet regardless of the size of the load. The standard cycles perform well along with the AI dry setting which allows the dryer to sense and accommodate for the load being dried as it adjusts the drying time to prevent damage to fabric. If you like smart functions the dryer works with the LG Thin Q app which give you the capability of downloading specialty cycles and making smart diagnosis that is based on use patterns. The standard drying options include normal, quick dry, heavy duty, bedding, AI dry, delicates and permanent press. We noticed that the dryer worked very well for the all the cycles we used. The lint filter is a folding two stage design which must be an improvement in catching lint and debris as well as allowing the dryer to vent more efficiently. Speaking of which LG has suggested specifications as to how long the dryer run should be, so verify that your environment can support the ventilation requirements. We’re very pleased with the LG 7.3 dryer and how well it works with varying load sizes and fabric requirements.
