purchase for home used, should be good on ink for awhile, like that i can print from my phone . Prints quickly . app work pretty good but have some issues. 1st one was on initial setup to wifi from app couldn't get it to connect , end up having to set it up on printer little display screen to get it to connect after that haven't had any problems with connecting to app . The 2nd problem is printing directly from websites like a recipe . to fix end up having to go to Google app store on phone and go to my Chrome app and uninstall the latest updates and turn off auto update and now it prints directly from websites . i have the latest firmware updated on printer. \nso i don't know if Brother needs to update their firmware to work with Android chrome latest updates don't know what's the deal is but that only way i could get it to work

This is my second Brother laser printer. My first one was great, but there were a few things that endlessly frustrated me about it. The biggest one was that every time it lost power for any reason or duration of time, the wifi needed to be reset by entering my password, which is long, using only up and down arrow buttons. It was awful! After that printer was accidentally knocked down and stopped working, my kids school gave us an HP inkjet which we reluctantly used because it was free. The ink cartridges run out so fast though, I felt like I was spending hundreds a year on ink... and we mostly only print in black and white, but if you want to print anything at all the printer has to have both ink cartridges in place with ink in them. When we reached our max frustration with that, we came back to Brother for another try at a laser printer. I am so happy that they have improved the biggest headache for me - there is an app now where you can enter your wifi info! No more fumbling with the two buttons on the machine trying to type in a 25 letter password!! \nThis printer was so easy to set up, that my 10 year old actually did it for me! In 10 minutes we went from in the box to printing from our phones and my Chromebook. My kids can print their coloring pages by themselves now and I can spend less time running to staples for ink because the toner in this thing should last a long time! \nI also really love the duplex feature. I care about the earth, so I print double sided whenever possible. With my inkjet printer that meant printing one side, flipping the paper over and putting it back in, then printing the other side. So much work for multi-page documents! This printer does the double sided for you and it is so nice! For me, it's a feature that is worth spending a few extra bucks for because it will save me money on paper and it will help the earth just a little bit and every little bit helps!

I had bought the previous model (the HL-L2320DW) a few years ago and loved it so much that when I needed to order a second printer, I immediately wanted to get another one. This model is just $20 more than the previous version but does a little more, too. \n\nIt is so delightful to have a printer that never jams, is compact, and is fairly inexpensive to use. \n\nI have a huge color laser printer from another manufacture that was a PITA from the day I got it and finally, about 4 years ago, it completely stopped connecting with any computers which prompted the switch. If I had known that there were printers like this around, I would have had one of these long ago. \n\nThe little rectangle where it says "brother" on the front is a slot where you can insert just one single sheet of paper if you want to put in an index card or envelope. That's handy. \n\nThis thing just works. Highly recommend.

What a nightmare trying to get this printer to print wirelessly. First off, the "easy set up download would not open on my four year old PC. Had to download the entire Brother Full Utility package to get the thing to print wirelessly. Prints great. Problem solved? Nope. Woke up this morning figuring I would register printer. Got it registered bot when trying to upload proof of purchase to the Brother website, FIVE TIMES! I gave up. Okay so I moved to the "connect printer" portal on their website in order to take advantage of Brother's six month extended warranty if I did, impossible. Brother wants me to scan the QR code first. While I know how to scan this code, what the heck do I do with it afterwards? Finally gave up trying to connect with my phone. Done? Not yet! Okay, so by now I figured I would just print a copy the proof of purchase. Nope! Printer will not print wirelessly again. Ran MS trouble shooter to find out what's wrong. MS "could not ID the problem"! What I won't do is hook it up with a USB cable to do my printing as I have limited space. What I will do is send this printer back to Walmart for a refund. Thanks, Brother, for making this printer to be adult proof!

I purchased a Brother Laser printer because I have been using a Brother WFC printer at work for decades and it just won't quit!\nThiis HL-L2420W printer is compact and quiet. I like the full duplex feature that prints one side of the page, they automatically pulls the page back in and prints on the other side.\nMy only complaint thus far is the setup process. It took multiple tries for my PC to see the printer. I still have not found a way to get my cell phone to print using this printer even though theis printer is supposed to be accessable from a mobile phone..

We have aneed to keep a printer off the kitchen in our laundry room to be able to print from our phones via WIFi. Printing is infrequent so I wanted a laser printer versus running the risk of ink jet printers, ink drying out. The Walmart price was $7 cheaper than Amazon and Walmart had it in stock for immediate pick up, which sealed the deal. Setting up Wi-Fi seemed a little hokey as the app didn't initially see the network to configure it, but eventually it connected and seems a persistent. It has a relatively small footprint and goes into a deep sleep mode when not in use so time will tell but so far. I'm happy with the overall purchase and installation experience.

I bought this to replace my earlier Brother laser printer which died after a decade of use. I wanted a cheap laser printer (B%26W) for every day stuff that would waste ink on the color inkjet. I had trouble installing the driver since I am using the unsupported Windows 7 on that machine. I downloaded the driver for Win 10 and it worked but had to do it manually. The Printer does a great job and prints duplex saving paper without having to reload the paper. The tray holds a decant amount of paper. The toner cartridge that came with it was pretty small so will probably have to be replaced fairly quickly but most printers come with a smaller than normal amount of ink. Had it for a week amd so far so good.

This printer is surprisingly easy to connect and to begin to use. However, I can't turn it off and I cannot get any assistance from the Brother support pages. I have to plug it in and unplug it every time I use it. And it's not easy for a 77 year old woman to crawl under my desk to do that. Prints great and makes good copies just won't turn off.

The printer has been workiong very well and producing excellent output. The only challenge has come when firmware/software updates are provided. The most recent (about a week ago) worked fine, but up until then, none had succesfully completed, always stopping at 90% with the message "no connection." Hopefully, the recent success means it will not be an issue going forward.

If I could give this printer zero stars I would. I have always been a Brother girl. I love their products. I had a very fancy model that I use for years until it died on me. On a budget, I purchased this model, refusing to try another brand. This is by far the worst printer and the worst waste of money I've ever spent. It goes into a deep sleep within seconds of printing and there is no option to shut it off. Support tells you that all you have to do is try to print something and it wakes up. That is very wrong. You actually have to shut the printer off, turn it back on, and then print within seconds, to get it to actually work. I have never gotten it to connect to my Wi-Fi because the set up screen is so small, only a couple words fit on it at a time. I have a home office and use my printer frequently. I waste so much time every day trying to get this to print. Sometimes I even have to restart my computer to get the computer to even recognize the printers there. I get printer errors more with this machine than I ever got with my $29 HP printer. I recommend if you're looking for efficiency, do not waste your money on this. You will be very disappointed. It's really a shame because brother products are normally very well built. I have a portable scanner from them, that I use every day and love. You really do get what you pay for. If you're loyal to brother products I recommend spending the extra money to get the DCP-L2640DW. Otherwise bypass this one and go with a different name brand.

Overall a good printer for someone who doesn't have to do any 'fancy' printing as this is monochrome(only black/grey). Set up was simple enough; but, the download feature on the website to wirelessly connect my computer wouldn't launch for some reason. You can still connect manually from the printer which isn't to bad but if you have a long wifi password it can be a little tedious as there is only an up, down, and enter type button system to type out the password. Other than that small annoyance this printer is worth it.

Nice printer. I got it hooked up to our wireless network pretty easily. I didn't realize it can print on two sides (bonus).\n\nI don't like the pop-up reminders on my laptop regarding toner. I'm an adult, I can figure that out. \n\nPrint quality is perfect for my needs.

We needed a modern reliable printer that gets occasional use when printing from our smartphones. This model printer was perfect for our purposes at a great price. There is a small display for setting it up and the Wi-Fi configuration seemed a little confusing to me, but after a few attempts it connected up.

I love this printer. I have been buying brother printers that used cartridges, but I definitely prefer this laser printer. It's a lot faster and a less work. I needed a printer that was capable of Double-Sided Printing, with good printing speed. The print quality is good. I did not need a lot of bells and whistles. If you're looking for these qualities, this is the printer for you.

I absolutely love this printer. Very easy to setup. Print quality is great. And most importantly, I'm saving tons of money not having to pay for color ink. The wireless printing function is a lifesaver. I would recommend this Brother printer to anyone who doesn't need to print in color.

I researched a lot before buying this printer because my prior printer never connected wirelessly and gave me many issues printing over the years. To be fair, it was a $30 printer, but it was awful. I avoided using it at all costs lol. I finally decided it's time to invest in a quality printer and I am so glad I chose this one. I've had zero issues printing wirelessly and printing is always simple. The app is user friendly and the ink is much more cost efficient than the HP cartridges I had to buy for my prior printer. Really satisfied!

Small printer, great for small office/home setting. However, after the first 50 prints or so; the toner lightens up to very very very light. Still readable; but not very dark for a new toner cartridge. Nice size and fits on desk well. Works accordingly. Only issue we have is that the print is very light

I bought this as a gift, have used a Brother printer for several years and have been very happy. If it works as well as my 2 Brother printers I am sure my friend will be happy.\nThe quick setup guide included a list of components and the towner cartridge was missing. It would be nice to know if Brother made a mistake (either listing the towner by mistake or not including it) or it was removed after leaving Brother and before arriving at my house.

This Brother laser printer delivered on every promise. Fast, efficient and small with sharp, clear printing. Love the double-sided page. Installation went without a hiccup considering I chose to install from a 10-year old processing system. Easy to follow directions and no problems with registration (even though this product was obviously targeted for the Canadian market). Would highly recommend.

setup instructions were unclear about using the paper tray or the single sheet feed. I had it on single sheet and it said there was no paper even though the tray was full??? After I figured out my mistake and set it to print from the tray, all is good. The WiFi printing is great. Works with Linux.

So far, Brother hasn't let me down. I had a Brother word processor my mom bought me in 1991 that last all the way through from high school to finishing my PhD. I have a trusty, reliable Brother sewing machine machine and so far the printer is so much better than any overpriced pos HP printer.

Have had it for about 3 weeks and love this printer so far. It replaces a cranky Canon wireless laser printer that had trouble staying connected to my wireless network and was a PITA to set up. ( The Canon also REFUSED for some unknown reason to print some of my financial statements, just hanging up my Mac indefinitely until I had to restart both the printer and computer.). I ruled out buying an HP laser because there's no reason for my printer to connect to HP in order to work; what and how much I print is just none of their business.\nSetup and connection to my wifi network took about 10 minutes, and the connection hasn't dropped once, even though the printer is on the other side of the house from the wifi router. Printing is fast and looks good, and the duplex feature printed the insurance cards for my vehicles perfectly. Added bonus, it prints directly from my iPhone without having to save and send it to my Mac first. \nOverall, very happy so far.

I have a small business and bought this printer based on other reviews. As far as printing letters and scanning letter size documents, it's fine. However, I run into difficulty when trying to print a single check or addresses on envelopes. Better instructions on how to load checks and envelopes( up, down, direction etc) for proper printing would be helpful. Instructions are not very clear, particularly about printing checks. A YouTube video explaining this would be most helpful.

It isn't compatible with chrome books as far as I could tell.... I didn't know that when I bought it.... I must not have read the description well enough. In any case, I was greatly disappointed. However, it does work with some mobile devices.

First, Brother products--especially laser printers--are outstanding, and this printer performs as well as it promises. The print is clear and clean. Its duplex function is fantastic with front/back page printing. The app is easy to use. It prints quickly. It ably prints envelopes. It connects to a home network with minimal pain. Toner is affordable and long lasting. And, it is a bargain for the price.

Excellent Product. It's the basics monochrome, and no scanner.\nYay- no more high cost ink cartridges. Comes with Black Toner and should last for 2500 copies. Replacement Toner is under $55. Toner does not dry out like ink. I had to order a cable, which didn't come with it. But you might have one already. My needs now are simple so colored toner, scanner, etc. are not necessary for me. My cost from Walmart was only $120 (toner included). I had a professional computer person help me pick this out.

Brother makes great products, and this printer is consistent in quality and value with other Brother products I have used. The display is small in terms of the amount of text it shows, but efficiently presented. Setting up the WiFi was a little laborious, but it worked on the first try for me. Print quality on laser printers is generally fantastic, and this is no exception. \nI'm very pleased with this printer and recommend it.
