The Harbor View Corner desk appears to be a quality product for the relatively low cost. The engineering of their products is amazing. Everything fit precisely and every hole was drilled exact, making assembly very easy. When looking at the measurements, this desk seems gigantic,,, in reality I wish it were a bit larger. (that was not one of my two "buts"). If you are looking for an attractive functional corner desk at a very reasonable price, and you have the ability to use such complicated tools as a screw-driver, I recommend this product. Though using a power driver will make it much less painful.\n\nNow for the "BUTS".\nBut # 1 - I am rather amazed that Sauder would have a product of such high quality and engineering and would supply such low quality instructions. The illustrations and wording leave a lot to be desired. This is the reason for 4 stars on "ease of set up". It seems Sauder went to great lengths in the engineering of their products and really skimped on the instruction booklet.\n\nBut # 2 - If purchasing the optional hutch, be ware of this. The way Sauder wants you to attach the hutch (after building it and the desk) is rather insane. After completing the desk, they want you to remove the top surface (s) an attach the hutch to the desk tops and then re-install. You may need two men and a boy to do this! With all the fantastic engineering they put into this product, they certainly fall short on this one. Sauder,,, a simple bracket system that attaches to the desk during the build process should be supplied. Sauder's current way seems to be nothing but an after-thought.\n\nKeep in mind that if this desk is going in a carpeted room, once it is built and in place, it is very difficult to move. My initial thought was to put some brackets on the back of the desk and attach (with screws) the desk to the hutch. Problem being that once it is in place (on carpet) you can't move it without the risk of damaging it.\n\nI painted two "L" brackets flat black and used them to attach desk top to hutch. Seems to work for me.\n\nSo, all in all, this is a really nice product. I am not upset (as some are) that the back panels of these products are made cardboard. That is common in all break-down products in this price range. I am not disappointed that the product is engineered particle board,, agian,, you can not get solid furniture grade wood for this price.\n\nOver all, I do recommend this product, so long as your expectations are realistic.\nPS... For your average person,, don't think you are going to get this box out of your car and carry it into your house by yoursel! Consider opening the box in the car (or truck) and taking it in - a piece at at time.

Your desk WILL come in 2 separate boxes.\n\n1st thing we did was separate and organize all the pieces and check off each one in the manual to make sure we had everything. (there were some extra pieces, so don't be alarmed)\n\nIt states to assemble the desk in the same room/area you are wanting to keep it. GREAT ADVICE!! \n\nI will start with the cons:\n\nIt took my husband and I about 4+ hours to put this desk together and he builds things for a living lol\n\nThe directions were pretty good (can be better) and we followed them precisely but still ended up with some pieces backwards or in the wrong spot. \n\nThe keyboard tray would fall off with the smallest amount of pressure besides the keyboard and mouse itself, so we made some additional support.\n\nThe sides where you can put the drawers and door gives you the option to "punch" out the backing so that the computer tower has more air flow...do this AFTER you've put it together. We ended up punching out both sides and our drawers face outward and you could see straight through. So, we taped the backing back onto the drawer side.\n\nIf you are putting this together in a carpeted room (area) make sure to move it as close as possible to the space you want to put it in; the desk is heavy! \nIf you move the desk against a wall make sure to use 2 people otherwise 1 side will move and the other won't which can cause the desk to snap at the "L".\n\nThe drawers don't open to its full potential giving you about a good 3 inches in the back that you can't reach very well. You can always pull the drawer out to reach it but it will start to come off the track and risk the drawer falling out.\n\nPros:\n\nThe desk is GREAT! \n\nI like the fact that it's reversible. I have the option to decide which end I want the door/drawers on. \n\nI love the color and size. I have room for my desktop and printer and still have a TON of room on the other side for whatever else. \n\nIt is easily cleaned and the surface is smooth.\n\nEach side of the desk lines up and there were no "lips" causing unevenness. \n\nThe drawers slide out smoothly and the shelf inside the door is easily adjustable.\n\nThe clip that holds the cords in place on the keyboard tray helps to keep your cords nice and straight.\n\nAll in all...regardless of the time it took to put together and the little quirks with things here and there, I LOVE IT!

Nice desk for the price. It came fast, in two very large, very heavy boxes. Both boxes were shrink-wrapped outside with thick plastic to help keep the items inside protected. There is very stiff cardboard edging inside to protect the pieces from damage as well. There are MANY pieces to this desk so block out a lot of time to put this big puzzle together. You may need two people for some parts such as lifting the desk up when you need to. It is particle board so please read instructions carefully-you don't want to make mistakes and try and take apart to reassemble as it will surely damage the desk. That being said, the instructions have really come a long way over the years and are SO much better explaining the steps and with much better illustrations. A real life/time saver is the million assembly nuts, bolts, etc., now come in one huge sheet of plastic in their own little compartments clearly labeled with the part number so you don't have to take that part out until you need it-no lost parts! Every part/piece I needed was included. Nice looking, heavy desk I hope to get much use out of as long as I don't abuse it. I got the cherry wood version, but it's actually more toward a dark brown color which is ok for my personal office. There is a lot of storage room on this desk which is great, and I am putting my printer on the far right of the desk surface and the CPU in the cabinet on bottom. It does come with a shelf to put in the CPU cabinet as well, but if you put your CPU unit in there the peg hole slots are too low to also install the shelf above the computer which is a con for the desk-wish the peg holes for the shelf went much further up. Had to adjust the cams a little to make the drawers line up and slide in and out smoothly but that was very easy as well with clear instructions on how to make the adjustments. I looked a long time to find a desk like this that checks almost all the boxes for me without breaking the bank.

As with all large pieces of furniture I have assembled, this one takes more time than originally anticipated. But, the results are worth it!\n\nAll pieces fit together as intended -- it just took a bit of time to review the directions. Although you are able to swap the drawer end with the cabinet end, the directions were only given for one installation and it took some thought to flip things. Not all large pieces are labeled, but the pictures are relatively explanatory. There was almost no extra hardware provided so do not lose anything!\n\nThis piece is very nice looking when assembled and it is both roomy and solidly built. I do have a couple of thoughts on things that could be done better, however. The drawers are a bit small. The top two drawers are only about 12"x12" (inside) and the bottom file drawer is about 12"x14.5". None of the drawers fully extend so it makes it a bit tight getting things out of the back or accessing files. I do not use the cabinet for my computer CPU, so it would be nice to have the option to place shelves inside for additional storage.\n\nAfter assembling my desk, we considered buying one for my husband. Unfortunately it is no longer available at Walmart.com. Apparently the manufacturer is now only selling it as a package, bundled with the hutch. Hopefully this will change in the future & Walmart will again carry this product.

I was a little concerned having read all the reviews about the labeling of the pieces and how hard this desk was to set up. I will admit, that it took me 3 1/2 hours for the first and 2 1/2 hours for the second (I bought two), but the pieces were labeled and if you follow the directions, it is not complicated. The rails for the drawers could certainly be better labeled.\n\nThe color is really off white, and not white, as expressed by others, but it is really pretty and is described as antique white, which it is.\n\nIt is a solid desk, but heed this warning, do not set up the desk far from where you want it. The top of the desk does not really attach to the base/side parts but for a few "locking cams" that lock into the base of the desk, but do not lock the top of the desk on to the base. Therefore, if you pick up the top of the desk, it will come off, and the base will collapse on itself. If you know to move the desk ONLY from the bottom, it will be fine. Once the top is one, it won't slide off, but it will come off if you lift it. I find this design to be a HUGE design flaw, but I would probably buy one again, even knowing this, as it is a nice looking desk for both my son and daughter and it is not flimsy once you put it together (even with the top part that can be removed).

I will call this an ""advanced"" DIY project, don't even think about building this thing yourself unless you have a fair amount of experience with ""assembly required"" furniture. That's not a complaint, just an observation. Overall, I'm quite impressed with the planning and quality of this, but with some exceptions: The Twist-Lock fasteners are weak and susceptible to pulling out after assembly. Then we have Step 20 in the instructions, which I STRONGLY disagree with. It says to turn the unit over, from resting on it's back to resting on the front, then requiring a precisely-sized support to hold up the top. THIS IS A BAD IDEA! When 3 of us worked together to turn it over as gently and carefully as possible, panels started popping off all over the place, and I had a major repair job to get all the twist-locks re-inserted and tightened. (Other people had this problem too, per the reviews. ) Much better idea to stand the unit up, then nail the backing boards into place, which I did with no problem. The instructions say that the unit should not be upright before the backing boards are on. I disagree, it held up fine, and that's MUCH lower risk than trying to flip it over 180 degrees per Step 20!

Was a little wary about buying something this expensive online but I had been looking for a new desk for some time and this one ticked all the boxes. Lots of storage, beautiful dark wood, CPU cabinet, etc. Was not too hard to put together...that being said it did take awhile. Approximately 5 hours including unboxing in garage and bringing into living room where it resides. My husband is very good at DIY so he did most of the actual putting together with me fetching the correct parts. It does help to get everything laid out so it's easy to find. There are a lot of parts! I have been using the desk 1 week and it is awesome. I am particularly fond of the CPU cabinet as my desktop is a rather noisy liquid cooled gaming rig...it cuts down the noise quite a bit. There were no damaged parts, just a couple of spots we nicked putting together. There were easily taken care of with a scratch cover pen. Also, got the desk at an amazing sale price. Very pleased with everything!

I wanted a slim, white desk with large drawers for storage. This desk is just that! Some bad reviews online for this desk worried me to buy this desk. But the set up was fairly easy, just long. It took us about 90 min to put it together. But every piece matched & every screw/nail was used. It went very smoothly. The finish on this desk is very pretty! It has a faux antique look, and it matches the natural tones in our home decor. The only thing I dislike about this desk is the bottoms of the drawer are a pretty thin panel that slide into the bottom. We have had other drawers like this and they are easily bent. These don't seem like they will hold up long, even though the instructions say it will hold 25 lbs. I would definitely recommend this desk for anyone looking for an adorable desk that doesn't take up a lot of room.

We bought this desk and hutch to replace our old Sauder desk that we'd had for years. We love the look of it, and the bleached oak color. My husband put it together. It was alot of work, but the directions were very detailed and all the parts were very well packaged and organized. Like other Sauder pieces, not sure how well this will hold up. There were a couple of very small marks on the top of the desk when we received it, where the finish was worn off. Also, after assembling it and putting our computer hard drive in the shutter door compartment, the bottom of the opening got gouged up. The same thing happend to the side of the desk. Desk is VERY heavy, it's not something you ever want to try and move once assembled. Overall very happy with the desk, just wish Sauder made them to be more durable.

Sauder is my go-to for office furniture...this is my third Sauder desk in 47 years. This one replaced a 20-year-old Sauder desk! Instructions are clear with plenty of photos. Arrived quick, but packaging was a mess...FedEx mutilated it! LUCKY nothing was damaged though'! Took 6 hours to assemble, but we did take our time with it. There were a few holes that would not match up as they should have but we managed to get it together. It's VERY heavy so make sure to have plenty of strong arms available to assist you and assemble it where you plan on using it! Shelves and Drawers are very sturdy. Did buy the matching Hutch and plan to purchase the other matching pieces... Overall I love the desk.

I'm pleased with desk now that I have it put together, but I had to go through the process twice! The first time it took almost 7 hours. Some of the parts weren't labeled which was frustrating, but the diagrams in the book are excellent. When I started putting together the larger drawer, one of the pieces wasn't cut out properly which ended up causing major problems. I ended up disassembling the desk and returned it to Walmart and ordered another one. The second time the assembly only took 2 1/2 hours and the parts fit perfectly. The instructions tell you not to use an electric drill, but after getting blisters turning all those screws, I used mine very carefully the second attempt. The desk is perfect for my needs and I'm now glad I got it.

At 5 1/2' x 5 1/2' a large piece---make sure you have the room and assemble where you want it; it will not be easy to move. Took us about 3 hrs to put it together, but not difficult, just bulky plus had to get it upstairs (which we did before assembling). Look is great. Lots of storage. Disappointments: one section of the desk surface is slightly cracked but not in my way so made no attempt to get it replaced. Also would like to have seen shelving options in the CPU cabinet for those of us who use All-in-Ones and no longer have to deal with a CPU; will have to rig something there. Overall, excellent buy for a large desk---price (thru WalMart) is fabulous. Saw the identical thing on 3-4 other sites for anywhere from $250-$500 more $$$.

I really like the desk, but there are some issues with its quality. First off there were some damage during shipping. A few of the pieces were damaged and scratched, I ordered replacement parts for some that were most important (I noticed other pieces damaged after assembly which will be more of a pain to replace so I am trying to deal with them). Second the desk top is very easily scratch-able. Other than the few damaged pieces I really like the desk and the Salt Oak Finish. I was skeptical with the finish before ordering. The pictures online show it as a bit lighter than it actually is, it is actually a perfect brownish color. I am looking at purchasing more pieces to match the desk.

First of all, the wood on top is darker than in the photo, which I think is good, it looks a lot better than the photo. It took my husband about 4 hours to put together by himself, with a good drill, apparently this is the new record. It looks great, the wood seems really nice. So far it is sturdy, although I have only had it for a week. I do wish the cabinet had a shelf in it, since I have a Mac and don't need the space for a PCU. But we'll probably just end up building one in there. Overall, it's just what I wanted, not too huge, but big enough for me to spread out my work. It looks great in my house and I love "going" to work everyday!

This is a typical Sauder product. I've used this brand for desk for over 20 years. The instructions were easy to follow. Some of the pieces are that typical particle board, where you can't make any assembly mistakes. Two pieces came damaged, but that's were I feel Sauder shined bright. They sent me out replacement pieces readily, twice. I paid someone to put this together and they botched it. I took it apart and put it together in 4 hours or so. The desk top and the hutch top are real wood. This is a beautiful desk, but please follow the instructions completely!! Unit looks just like pics but bigger to me in person.

Purchased two of these desks. They are very sturdy and look great. Took 2 people about 6 hours to put both together. Some pieces for the desk were in the hutch box and since we were only using 1 hutch had to go thru all hutch pieces to find desk pieces. Where the printer sits on the desk no cutout for cords. Had to cut one out. The dividers are not adjustable. The keyboard tray seems to be a little high. Drawers open and close very smoothly. The cubby that holds the computer is very convenient. Pleased with this purchase and would recommend.

My wife and I were looking at desks as she recently went remote in her work position. We wanted something that had a stylish design and plenty of workspace. This desk checked off both of those things! We also appreciate the deep drawers and the large cabinet. She has a lot of writing tools and stationary, so this was great for storage. If you like some personalization, your able to position the pullout keyboard tray in multiple positions on the desk, especially if you have a preferred angle to work on the desk. We definitely recommend this desk.

The instructions were great to assemble this product. Pretty much everything was marked. Best yet, the nails, screws and bit parts were labeled so I didn't have to guess which screws went where. I like this desk very much. The color is nice, I can fit my large monitor and my laptop, and I have enough space for my inbox and miscellaneous business files, envelopes, etc. I assembled it myself within 7 hours. Rather proud of the work. It would have been easier with two people, as they recommend, but I only had me that day as it was Superbowl Sunday.

First I would like to say the other reviews on the color are right. It is more an aged white... slightly yellowed and does have streaks of a darker ivory throughout... I personally think it looks great especially if you enjoy a country look.\n\nOn assembly as long as you separate all the screws and hardware, follow the directions precisely and pay attention to the way you have the pieces faced (the instructions do show this) it took me about an hour. If there are pieces that are not labeled the look on the unfinished sides the letters are stamped in.

Bought this to replace a more standard desk that did not have a keyboard drawer. Very sturdy, everything fit and aligned properly. Instructions leave a bit to be desired and not all pieces are marked. The hardest part was figuring out which drawer slide went where. Need to improve that part of the instructions especially but with patience and logic, otherwise everything went together very well. I have bought other Sauder products and this is a solid product. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a durable desk for a low price. Color is more off white with beige streaks so it looks aged

Aside from the pieces being divided into the 2 HEAVY boxes in such a way that both had to be opened (you need a large open area for this), it is beautiful. My only issue was putting the drawer slides on. For some reason I put ALL of them on either upside down or on the wrong sides. The pictures could be just a bit more detailed for this. Other than that, the pieces are almost all labeled and easy to follow. As others have said, a second person to help hold & hoist is definitly needed. Love the finished product, and have already cluttered it up with my mess :)

For the cost value, this was an excellent choice when we needed to downsize from our huge oak desk. The directions were outstanding and even w/a little humor. No parts (there were many!) were missing, clearly labeled, and screws in cute identifiable "pouches" You need some type of desk surface cover as it can scratch easily. All the drawers fit and slide smoothly. We left out one vertical shelf upright as we wanted legal size paper to fit. Hubby is 80 and I'm 76...definitely a 2-person job. It is VERY heavy!

Like the design, would have preferred close-able cubbies but all-in-all a good value for the money once I finished with assembly. The bottom file drawer did not have enough of an adjustment left after I moved the adjustable rail as high as it would go it was still out of kilter with the other side. Considering I didn't have a choice as to where the fixed rail got installed on the desk itself all I was left to adjust with was the rail on the drawer itself, and it just wasn't enough to square the drawer in the desk opening as you can see in the picture.

this desk is perfect for what i needed, space for monitor, printer, keyboard. also has a spot to hide your computer and some drawers for files and things. additional space for books. great quality wood for the price and the instructions for assembly were super simple. my office has that fresh new wood smell and the dark cherry is more beautiful in person than it was in the pictures. this is my first time using hayneedle but it wont be my last. im actually about to look for a matching bookcase to complete my office.

This is a great desk! The great reviews were spot on. It's very good quality and the instructions were impressive and easy to follow. All the parts were even labeled. I think in total it took us about 5 hours to put together. It would've been way less time without my sweet little helpers (3&5 yrs old) that are learning about tools and helping. So far the desk is working great for my fourth grader. It's a fantastic upgrade from his old one, and it's a desk he'll be able to use it until he graduates. And he loves it!

I've been using the desk for a few weeks now, I like it! It is made out of particle board as to be expected at this price range, but the vinyl applied seems to be high quality, I don't see it pealing off any time soon, which is great! The storage is great to have, but the drawers don't come out all the way which is very annoying and makes using them a real pain. Assembling wasn't hard, but it was very time consuming and took about 6 hours with short breaks and with two people. The instructions provided is very detailed and was easy to understand!

The desk looks great. Nice variation in the grain and color. Thoughtful design with an adjustable shelf inside the CPU area and a shelf in the knee space. This desk kept a bunch of stuff off the floor. Good cable management for those who aren't wireless. Easy to assemble but two people are needed as the desk is heavy. Sadly the rear panel of the file drawer was damaged during shipping. Went online and Sauder sent a replacement. No charge and arrived within a week. No fuss. Made in America and nice quality.

Desk is nice looking. It matches the rest of the collection we already have. Its very soilid and functional. When i started assembling the desk, one of the last pieces you need is the desk top, which was in the bottom of the package. When I pulled it out, it ws damaged. It appears that the end of the box was bent during shipping, and it cracked the desk top. I ordered another desk, opened the box updside down so i could acces the desk top first. It was fine. I put it on my desk, and put the damaged part back in the box and returend it to the store.

I read plenty of reviews before making this purchase. Most of the reviews complained about the difficult, time-consuming set up. I'm a 32 year old teacher, not a carpenter, and this set-up was exactly what I imagined. Many parts, clearly labeled pieces, and user-friendly directions. True, it takes a long time (roughly 3 hours), but it's worth it! The quality of this desk is great, and the size is perfect! The desk is sturdy enough for my husband too. I've already recommended this desk to friends and family.
