I have had this GE refrigerator now for about a week. My first GE refrigerator.\n\nCan't comment on long term reliability, but wanted to share my initial thoughts. \n\n1. Took a few days to settle in. On first days, seemed like it was constantly running and on the noisier side. As we slowly added food to both the refrigerator and the freezer, and gave time to cool down, it ran a lot less and seemed to be quieter So don't panic on day 1 or 2.\n\n2. Upper door mechanism on the left side makes a spring "twang" sound when opening. A little annoying and hope it goes away. Does not impact operation.\n\n3. When using the in door water dispenser, be sure to keep glass under spout for about 1 second after releasing the button, so as not to drip water. The yellow instruction card included mentions this as well, so it is to be expected. I believe the inside reservoir for water smaller than my prior refrigerator and as such not as much cool water available at any one time. Not a big deal.\n\n4. I really like the lighting and appreciate having additional lights on either side of the crispers. \n\n5. We have thermometers in both freezer and refrigerator and it is able to get to and maintain temperatures.\n\n6. Ice makes makes lots of ice quickly. I wish the ice container was smaller to allow more utilization space of the freezer. No way we need that much ice at any time. \n\n7. Outside very attractive. Liked that everything was taped up and protected during delivery.\n\nI like that this unit does not have a bunch of extra stuff like wifi, tv screens, overly complicated ice delivery systems etc.

Just installed the Model GYE22GENKDS. Pretty much as expected, though still working through some small issues. The green plastic protective film doesn't completely come off. Having a hard time getting it out of the crevices. Two of the circle stickers on the shelves left adhesive on the glass. The white sticker on the freezer handle is not coming off easily. There are white particles on the inside left-hand door. Not sure what they are. The strapping tape at the back on top of the bins is very hard to pull off and leaves adhesive. I put the freezer on turbo freeze, but the freezer hasn't cooled off in the last two hours. The front control pad has no backlighting, so it is really hard to see the areas to touch for water/crushed/cube control and the fridge and freezer controls. The top bin on the left side door scrapes the right side door when closing. The refrigerator top side quickly came to temperature. The fridge is nice and quiet. No ice yet.

We needed to replace a Slate 'GE Profile' fridge. Rest of kitchen is Slate "Profile". We get so many compliments on the Slate finish in the kitchen. It's a bit more sophisticated than basic stainless. \n\nBut, pooh, our Profile fridge died, and GE no longer makes the GE Profile in Slate. Deciding that matching the rest of the kitchen was more important than function, we bought the non-"Profile" slate. It's an OK fridge, but not nearly as nice as 'Profile' upgrade. It cools the food, and Slate looks incredible with our espresso color cabinets, blue grey counter, white floor and grey crackle glass backsplash. \n\nUnfortunately, this model does not include the features we became accustomed to. The split shelf for tall items is not included. The door butter dish shelf is not included. The little hanging drawer on the inside of freezer door is not included. The non-skid liners are not included. The water dispenser does not have 'auto fill'. The overflow shelf under the water dispenser is not included. Because the carcass of the appliance is the same as profile, we kept the shelves and door baskets from our dead 'Profile'. They fit perfectly. \n\nI wish GE still made the Slate for "Profile" or "Cafe". We would have upgraded to "Cafe" if it came in slate.

The style of this fridge is okay for storing some larger items and having them more accessible. One of the issues is some larger items (gallon of milk, larger coffee creamer, juices, etc.) do not fit on the fridge shelves and only fit on the door. This also causes the door to be heavier and tend to slowly shut instead of stay open. The shelves on the fridge are not adjustable to make the space larger, only smaller. The shelves on the left door are smaller and only a few smaller condiment bottles are able to fit.\nThe freezer is a good size with multiple compartments and it is easy to keep organized and reachable. The sliding dividers in the freezer are extremely handy.\nThe ice maker does not dispense much ice and takes a while to build back up a supply of ice.\nThis fridge claims to be fingerprint resistant and that is accurate.

The cools everything appropriately and the capacity is great. Note that as some others have said, it took a full ~30-hours from the time we turned it on for the cooling temp to be reached and stop running the compressor. It is relatively quiet but does run a bit more often than our last fridge. The plastic drawers rattle a bit, but this seems a standard reality in most fridges of comparable price. Only minor flaw is the design of ice bucket area and switch in the freezer. We don't use the ice maker so turn it off, but then if you try to put other things in the ice bucket area, it can sometimes flip a 'paddle' in the ice maker mechanism that effectively stars to put the ice maker switch halfway back into the on position.

I am very happy with this counter depth refrigerator. It suits my needs perfectly, Roomy with the adjustable shelves. Although the existing GE refrigerator in the house when I bought it was only 5 years old, it was a side by side and it didn't function for me. I again purchased the slate to match the rest of appliances, but I wish there was a touch up kit because it was only 2 weeks old when the new quartz was installed and the refrigerator has a small scrape. It also is the noisiest refrigerator I have ever owned with a constant rattling sound. I like how well lit the interior is and the location of the filter. I highly recommend this product if one needs to have a counter depth refrigerator.

It is very similar to my 2009 Samsung French Door fridge, but I don't like it quite as much. Although it is about 2 cuft larger, it doesn't hold as much.\npros- Water dispenser is inside the fridge wall, so it doesn't take up a lot of space\nIt makes ice fairly quickly\nThe interior trays don't feel as flimsy as some in some other brands we considered\n\ncons-Didn't come with an ice scoop\nWeird gaps in the freezer=lost space\nThe water doesn't get very cold and you have to use 2 hands to get it\nLouder than previous\nThe tray heights are off by about 1/4 in, so tall items like milk don't quite fit under\nIt is harder to close and open the doors

Great look, holds way more than I thought it could, quiet, refrigerator temperature consistent, freezer temperature also perfect. Just one thing, you have to open both top doors to pull out the deli drawer on the bottom. I think dividing the drawer into 2, one on each side would be more convenient for us, i.e. we keep cheese on one side, meats on other and at times need to access only one. Two drawers for deli would be more convenient.

Attractive design with proper dimensions for counter depth. The size and capacity is ideal. the shelves are very well laid out with ample space in the door shelves for bottles and gallon containers. The refrigerator operation is quiet while the set temperature stays constant. The door handles are well proportioned and attractive. The unit controls are well lit and easy to use. The only negative is the freezer, deli drawer and ice maker doors are stiff and somewhat difficult to open. The price was economical and fair.

This a is nice refrigerator plenty of space, my only issue is the shelf spacing. I put the milk on bottom shelf above veggie bins. I know it can go in the door. But The refrigerator door is the hottest part of the fridge. Milk is supposed to be stored in the back and bottom of fridge, the the coldest part. I have dead spae above my milk. I wish I could move the shelf above the milk down a notch. Food preservation and maximum custimization are not taken into consideration. To worried about convenience.

We've had the frig a couple weeks and its working fine. I have two small criticisms - the bottom shelves on the doors are narrow and difficult to access if you need room for tall containers on the second shelves and the is no "dairy bin" with a lid which I think keeps butter from picking up an odors. Otherwise it's a nice roomy unit with a large ice bin that fills up pretty quickly. The salesman at the store was great and delivery was almost within the five hour window we were given.

I like the layout and features. \nIt would be nice if the cold water dispenser put out more cold water before going to room temperature. \nAlso it would be nice it it came with a water filter bypass, I have a reverse osmosis system for the water supply and do not need additional filtration. If anyone at GE reads these reviews let me know if a bypass plug is available and how I can get one, Thanks!

Minimal complaints so far. The counter depth worked better for the kitchen layout but it narrows the left side fridge door some. Few items fit in those shelves. The finger resistant is helpful and is less smudged than it would be if it was regular stainless steel. Both front and sides are magnetic which I wasnt expecting. Overall good purchase. The plastic to cover the fridge is impossible to get off and I'm still trying to peel tiny pieces out of the crevices.

I like the style and color. The ice comes out the refrigerator and hit the floor with each use. Keep a towel near by to clean up the mess. I don't like that when you open the freezer door both compartment open at the same time. The lightening inside the refrigerator is excellent. A nice feature is a light for outside where the ice come out. Lastly, we really like the filter water.

Seemed like forever before the refrigertor was delivered but well worth the wait.It is quiet, cools quickly and well lit. I've turned off the automatic ice maker as we don't need it. It is smaller that our older refrigerator but are learning not to purchase the extra large condiments which tend to last months anyway. It looks good and the stainless does not show prints. So far so good!

I wish GE would make more smaller fridges to accommodate smaller 1950's houses. Not too many choices for older homes. I do love the water on the inside, and the space in the fridge is well thought out.

I replaced my GE profile after 16 years that finally broke down. After several tries with an LG model, I decided to go back to this GE model. I am very pleased with the storage, shelving and capacity. I have limited space so I did not have many options to choose from. I paid extra for the ice maker kit to be installed in the freezer. After 5 days, the door is making crushed ice and ice cubes, but the freezer is not making ice. I have scheduled a service call so I will see what happens. I was hesitant to purchase this model since the ice maker was not factory installed. It appears I was right to have doubts. I hope it is an easy fix and we will see what PC Richards offers if it is not. Clearly appliances are not made the way they were. I am really hoping GE doesn't let me down.

Fridge has been great so far. Plenty of space in both the fridge and freezer. Only downfall was the delivery process, ended up taking way longer than expected and delivery was delayed two separate times on the day of. So ended up calling off work 3 different days for this to be delivered. Both the water dispenser and ice maker have been great, no complaints.

Love the fridge! It’s sleek and amazingly has more room than my old refrigerator which stuck out from my counters. The only thing is that the water dispenser is rather slow. I like the fact that it’s inside the fridge though it is less convenient. And agree with other reviewers that the water comes out at room temperature but ice solves that problem.

First time purchasing fridge with bottom drawer freezer. I think it will work out great. Looks like the fridge interior allows for better organization. Large door bins/shelves allow for even better storage and quick access to food products used often. Interior cold-water dispenser and ice dispenser bin in freezer allow for a clean sleek exterior.

The Refrigerator works very well. Stays cold, freezer also keeps items frozen until needed. \nNot happy with the way the drawers in the fridge don't seem to move with ease, have to jiggle the drawers to open and close. Same thing with the freezer, the pull out freezer is fine, but sliding the drawer back into place sounds like a squeaky wheel.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After 4 months it still works great! Love the counter depth style, the retractable shelf, drawers, door shelves, and fingerprint free doors. A few things to be aware of: water cannot be dispensed by pushing with a cup (must use finger to push a button); freezer feels wobbly when opening.

So far so good! We do miss having an egg shelf and there isn't quite enough condiment shelving space on the left side door, but nothing we can't figure out with some organizational supplies! If it weren't for those 2 things, this would be a 5 star fridge for sure. Now here is hoping it LASTS, because that's the true test. 😉

So far there are only 2 things I don't like. First, the blue wrapping is too tight in the edges to get it all off/out.\nSecond, one of the trays attached to the ice door (inside left door) sticks out too far. I have to open the right door before I can open the left door, otherwise it scratches the inside of the right door.

Great fridge. We love how nice it is to have the fridge on top. You can fit so much in the freezer. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the ice maker is alittle loud when the ice dumps down into the reserve part. Other than that we love it. Also, the delivery guys were very nice and we had no issues with delivery.

The refirigerator size is fine but the left door the left door shelves, especially the middle one, is too narrow to be useful. The refrigerator door ice cube dispenser is problematic. The ice cubes shoot out of the dispenser like a rocket and land on the floor. They come out with such force that it broke a glass.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a nice fridge. Seems to cool well. Compressor a little louder than my last GE fridge. Negative Differences b/t my last, very nice, GE fridge and this one. Both are french door, with freezer at the bottom. New fridge: freezer top drawer slides out when opening door; have to push back in if you want something from bottom. Also, when you pull it out, it does not have a solid feeling. Internal drawers also light weight and don't fit tight; sway when pulling out. Right door only has 3 storage bins. My last had 4. Everything feels cheaply made. My previous GE lasted 12 years. I don't think this one will make it 5 years without parts breaking and needing replacement.
