So first off it's a nice compact machine even with the milk frother by its side it doesn't take up a lot of bench space. I watched a video on how to use and it's really easy to use. I've explained it in the video. It's not too noisy when grinding the beans. My only little juggle is when you make a lungo it does spit out a bit excess grounds (maybe a bit too powerful of a dispense )onto the machine. I need to check if the settings can be changed and that's the reason I haven't given it 5 stars. The espresso dispense is spot on no issues with that. The milk frother easy to use it has a fill line and does hot and cold foam. For a small machine it's spot on for me. I would definitely recommend if you lack space but want a nice looking coffee machine.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This coffee machine has minimal features but it's really good at doing the job it's intended. The espressos and lungos are made really quickly and takes away the need to grind beans as it's all done in the machine. It takes around a minute max from start to finish. The heat is great. The milk frother that comes with makes really good foam again in no time at all. We typically drink lattes and mochas so having a quick shot of espresso helps us to create barista style drinks in no time. I can't wait to keep using the product and would definitely recommend to my coffee lovers.

As for ease of use, I dont feel that you get enough to help you start up or how to get the most put of the product. I scanned the QR code and it didn't work. I ended up on YouTube. Also the leads are too short, the machine and milk foamer need to be right near a plug which isn't always possible in every home. Once I knew how to use it, it was very easy and the coffee tasted great. Freshly brewed like a barista prepared it in my kitchen.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The machine looks very smart, it's elegant and simple. It's very easy to set up, minimal parts and only 3 buttons so pretty straight forward. It's clear which parts can be washed by hand and by dishwasher. It's tricky to change the beans over (I drink decaf and my other half doesn't) so that part is a bit tricky for us. It makes a beautiful coffee though, nice and rich. The aroma is gorgeous. It's quite loud, but worth it for a lovely cup of coffee! So far so good, it seems to be reliable and durable. The machine won't get super heavy use, I only drink one cup a day.

The Baristina is a tiny but mighty espresso machine that meets my needs for everyday coffee. However there are some shortfalls to this machine. The machine does not dispense enough coffee for a doppio on either setting. Half full tamper produces weak espresso and I am having to fill it once cut the machine off then fill it again to then let it run. Second complaint is the tamper color options. Please release more varieties! They are super cute. Other than this one complaint, it's a great machine and I'd buy it again if they change the espresso load.

Like it's very hard to push in and to the side to turn it on and how you can ONLY use whole beans that ARENT flavored. Like it's not a problem, just inconvenient. I still am gonna use my other coffee machine since this is just espresso, so the flavored ones can go in there. Just for the price it is, you would think it would be more advanced?

We have a coffee pod machine at home and it rarely gets used due to it costing a fortune for pods and it always has a weak watered down taste and it's sat in the corner since and went back to my instant coffee of a morning. I treat my self a couple of times a week to a proper coffee out the house but it does add up in cost. I'm so happy to of been given the opportunity to try this. I'm completely transformed. The taste is unmatched. The machine itself is automatic, easy to use and surprisingly silent. Just place the beans in the top, add the water and turn the handle and it does everything for you. It really looks the part on my counter and is compact and doesn't take up loads of room. The milk foam machine is the perfect added bonus to top it. I'm enjoying experimenting with different beans and flavours. The machine grinds the beans and dispenses automatically. Then the remaining pulp I've been putting in my wife's roses to feed. Added bonus it will save me fortune having coffees out. Now my friends come to us instead of the coffee shop. I look forward to a fresh coffee of a morning. Instant no more

The Philips Barastina Espresso Machine is a really impressive product that brings very good, fully-automatic espresso to a price point that I wouldn't have believed until a tried it. While I'm far from a snob (and I don't think real snobs would even consider me a connoiseur), I enjoy a cup of espresso much more than regular coffee, and definitely enjoy being able to bring the full cafe latte experience home. Previously I've used a few different types of espresso makers but have never been able to afford a fully automatic machine. The Barastina makes the whole process simple provided you have a way to steam (or worst case froth) your milk. \n\n#Unboxing, first impressions#\nUnboxing and setting up the Barastina was pretty simple. The unit comes fully assembled in the box, minus a separate smaller package inside for the Portafilter (which is sold with several different colors for the handle). I took the machine out, cleaned the portafilter and water tank, and then dug around trying to find a manual. This was the only real negative from the experience - there isn't a proper manual in the box. There is a small pamphlet that says Instructions but is really just a bunch of warranty information for different countries. There IS a QR code inside the packaging to get the manual online, but I don't feel like it was called out especially well. Still, the obvious thing when I couldn't find a printed manual was to find a QR code, and that worked well enough. That said, there are only 3 buttons on the machine, so it's not like it's terribly complicated to use. The main thing I was concerned about was the initial setup and running the first clean water through it, which the manual covered.\n\nJust to call it out more clearly:\n*If you're purchasing for an older or less tech savvy person you may want to prep them for the QR code*\n\n#Making a cup, and taste tests#\nThe Barastina has only 3 buttons - Espresso, "Intensity boost", and Lungo. The process for making a cup of delightful espresso is SUPER EASY with this machine. Make sure the Portafilter is clean, fill the hopper with whole beans, press the button(s) for your preferred beverage, and slide the portafilter over to start the grinding process. It grinds the beans and tamps them in the Portafilter for you, then it pops back to the left and the pressurized hot water starts flowing through. I noticed immediately that it produces a wonderful crema with every pour. The fact that it does this without any hassle and at a very affordable price is remarkable to me. \n\nAnother nice thing I found is that the Portafilter is designed to not let you re-lock it to the right (for the grinding phase) until you've remove it from the machine. This stops you from forgetting to clean out the filter between uses. If you're making a double espresso, you are forced to pull out the Portafilter and clean it in the sink before you make another shot. That can come in handy on a busy morning where you lose track of what you're doing in the kitchen. It certainly helped this morning when I was trying to make my wife a Latte while we were bustling about getting the kids ready for school. I went to boop it back to the right for the second shot and it wouldn't lock, reminding me that I had to clean it first. Very handy. \n\n#Final thoughts#\nI'm really impressed with the Barastina. It takes almost all of the hassle out of making a decent espresso. I fortunately have a separate steamer available for milk based drinks, but I've also experimented with an inexpensive frother and gotten decent results for an uncultured swine like myself. Since the steamer is the part that usually gets gross faster on an expensive machine, it may not be too bad that this doesn't have one built in. \n\nAs stated in my unboxing impressions, the only negative I have for this was the lack of a printed manual + the lack of a giant sticker or something to call attention to the QR code for the online manual. I don't think this is a big deal for the average person but if you're buying it as a gift for someone less tech savvy, you might want to pre-download it and email it to them :)

Literally take it out of the box plug it in pour your coffee beans in choose your strength of the coffee there are three buttons on the top espresso one for your beans and one for regular coffee. The coffee beans compartment is a nice clear one and is on the top the Water is of ours at the back of the machine would've been better if this was at the side the machine is lightweight made plastic so it's easy to wipe down every now and then once the coffee machine has been used the arm move over to the left and then high Preto your drink is done lift it out and add the coffee beans pulp to your garden waste paragraph I would like to have received the cups for this machine and maybe a small packet of beans this machine did not come with the milk frother which I think I would've definitely gone for overall I like the machine it comes with two years warranty this machine looks awesome on the kitchen side. I think price wise is just a considerable purchase but a great entry point to which to enter the whole coffee bean experience.

I've been using this coffee machine and milk frother for a few weeks now and I really like it. Firstly, it looks gorgeous in my kitchen! It's a really nice in-between where it's nicer than a pod machine, but so much simpler, quicker and easier to use than a full espresso machine. It takes whole beans and has 3 settings depending on the size and strength of coffee you want. Easy to clean as well thanks to the button to get rid of used grounds easily! It also came with a milk frother which is a really nice addition, also very easy to use and can be used to create hot, frothy milk or just to heat milk. This is a little less easy to clean because the hot milk sticks to the inside, however the parts are magnetic which makes it easier and feels premium. No issues using either of them so far, would recommend!

I absolutely love that it has a built in grinder, a stroke of genius is that the tamper has a button to eject used coffee. The bane of my existence is slamming tampers against my kitchen worktop to get the stuck coffee out of them. I loved that you slid the tamper to grind the coffee into it and then it started pouring your drink! I thought the milk frother was handy and stylish. \n\nBut as time went on, I experienced problems. A major one being coffee spilling out from the machine after grinding. My once sleek new machine now has tiny coffee grounds stuck in it. The middle button doesn't seem to do anything at all, instead of making a super large coffee. The instructions are not clear at times either. Pictures only is not helpful. \n\nThe milk frother was great until I see I can barely put any milk in it before it will overflow. It's quite a large device to give so little milk. \n\nMy drink often has some coffee grounds in it due to the grinder issue. I will be contacting Philips but it's not a glowing review for such an expensive machine.

This machine is the most perfect addition to my home. \n\nAs a mum I love my morning coffee and I feel like my mornings are not happy till I have my daily coffee . I was very excited to give this machine a try and totally loved how quick , effortless was my coffee. The only regret , why did I not discover it sooner. It requires beans and when they are freshly brewed the taste and the aroma was unbelievable. I am not a tech savvy person and I still found the setup really quick and simple , I will highly recommend it and will continue using it. I love that I can use whatever beans I want, and they are freshly ground on demand. This makes my coffee so fresh, and I like that I can make both espresso and lungo shots. I also like that I have the ability to brew decaf coffee that has been ground already, while keeping my caffeinated beans in the machine. The only things that make it harder to use are the short opening under the espresso spout- you will need a short mug or espresso cup. The drip tray isn't very useful since the space is so short anyway. The ground espresso “pods” created after brewing can be messy, and sometimes leaks while brewing. However, these are the only minor issues I had using the machine. Overall it does a great job of brewing high quality espresso, and it takes up less space than a traditional machine. Highly recommend!

Firstly you have to fill the water tank with fresh cold water which is at the back of the machine, you then insert the drip tray and cup platform into place, you then power up the machine and it will start heating up. Takes approximately 40 seconds to heat up. \n\nAt the top is a compartment for where you put the coffee beans, you add 2 tsp of the beans and close the lid. Lastly, put a small cup under the spout and press the brew button. Coffee will be ready to drink!

Machine was durable, easy to use, aesthetically pleasing, you are able to personalise volume based on preference and it has differing strength settings. The coffee grind (puck) was easy to discard too, you simply pull it out of the machine and press the ejector button. The only slight negative is that the base of the machine gets a bit dirty due to dripping. A brilliant starter machine for a coffee connoisseur who wants to go from pods to bean to cup.

The water container holds a good amount of water to make roughly 8-10 Espresso's. The only downside is this doesn't come with a milk frother so you have you buy separately. It's overall a perfect coffee machine which is quick and easy to use.
