The instructions on how to use the various features were minimal & I couldn't get the power feature to work. I had to call the store to see if I was missing something or if it was a lemon. It turns out you have to put the power in by percentage, ie. 70 for what we used to put in as just 7. Nowhere in the instructions was that mentioned. Now that I know how to do it, everything seems to work fine except that power option doesn't always come up. The same button is used for "cook time" AND "power." You just press the key a 2nd time to enter the power...but it doesn't always register. So I think that is not a good design.

This microwave oven has fewer basic features than any microwave I've ever owned. It works well and heats more efficiently than the previous microwave oven, but we miss pushing a button to open the door, rather than just pulling the door open. You can't heat food in the microwave and use the timer on the microwave simultaneously, as I could with my previous microwave oven. Otherwise, it's okay.\r\nAgain, I did not appreciate the hard sell of the extended warranty when I called to register for the standard warranty. I felt as though Whirlpool was trying to take advantage of me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Whirlpool microwave was recommended by a trusted local appliance dealer. I was shown an older model and purchased this one sight unseen. It works beautifully, of course, but certain design elements are just annoying. First and foremost, the interior is dark charcoal gray. What were they thinking?? To make matters worse, there is one low-wattage bulb on the interior. So it is impossible to watch the item you're heating. I like that there is a mute button to avoid the beep every time a button is pushed. But at the end of each use, you must press "Cancel" to turn off the word "End" and return to the clock. Who thought that was a good idea? And finally, the clock. This probably wouldn’t bother most users, but my preference for precision demands that each of my kitchen clocks be in sync. But the auto-locking clock, five seconds after the time is entered, makes syncing unnecessarily tricky. Bottom line, I can't recommend this particular Whirlpool model.

It's brand new, so I could change my mind in a few months if it breaks down. But, so far this is an excellent microwave. I was also pleasantly surprised about how easy it was to install - my son did it for me and it took less than an hour with me helping him. It's definitely a two-person job. It's an over-the-range, and I was worried about venting because I don't have a vent to the outside and it's hard to tell from the description how the vent works. The vent came already set up for recirculating and venting out the top front which was exactly what I needed (and probably what most people need for an over-the-range microwave). Once installed, don't forget to remove the little plastic vent covers. The first photo is looking from the top down, so you can see where the vent is. I'm putting a 4 for quality because it's not a high-end microwave but seems good so far. 5 for value because it was a good price for a Whirlpool (which never seems to go on sale!) Super easy to use.

You have to slam the door to get it to close and the door feels as if it could break. The buttons are not the same as the old version--you have to push more buttons to do the same work. To me this is not time effective and seems like a step backwards as far as a new machine goes. It's odd that the interior is dark gray-you can hardly see in it at all. The light is very dim. All in all the microwave has a cheep feel to it and I wish I had chosen something else.

I was remodeling my kitchen and the old Microwave was purchased in 69!! It was way past time for an upgrade. The white looks great with the Whirlpool gas range. I like the Whirlpool name because I'm getting quality merchandise. It's a challenge to learn how to run it , the cheat sheet enclosed is invaluable help. I am learning. purchased in Feb, installed in March. It is a powerful machine. I would like to know if there is a pause feature, the stove lamp would be more helpful at the front of the stove. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The instructions for use are scanty at best. I find the microwave unintuitive and the controls are confusing to use. The microwave is also a lot noisier than the one it replaced. It also collects moisture inside when in use. Maybe I notice this because it's my first oven that is dark colored inside? One big problem for me is that I use the clock on the unit a lot. It is very dimly lit unless you've pushed a button when it brightens up tremendously. It is so dim it is hard to see the time as I'm walking out the kitchen door to leave.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this 2 months ago. No manual on how to use features. Just a simple start guide. Doesn't allow you to use actual buttons for power level. Instead of pressing power level 3 etc. you need to actually input 30 or 80 % etc etc. took me a week to realize this. Very frustrating. I've had microwaves for over 40 years and this is 1st time ever having to do this. Also have had experience with new microwaves at different homes and very intuitive. \r\nAlso- can no longer set 2 steps of power levels. For instance I want to cook something for 2 mins and power levels 80 and a second step of 1 min at power levels 50. \r\nAlthough this microwaves dimensions are same as standard it seems to have a large profile - the large black glass does not allow you see food while cooking. And the dark interior doesn't allow you to see how dirty microwave is.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this fridge because it fit next to a perpenticular wall on the left side in our new kitchen. Many other models would not allow the door to open all the way up against the wall. Therefore blocking not only the view and access inside, but the ability to fully extend any drawers inside. With this particular model the top compartment has no drawers. The middle drawer compartment replaces the need for the usual "crisper drawers," inside. It pulls straight out so no interference, again, with the wall. So convenient! Besides the fit we are very pleased with this unit. Everything works, it looks nice, water dispenser and ice maker work great. Surface is smudge free. When both doors are open, cleaning is easy and you can readily see and reach everything. Great model, well thought out.

When I went to the store, I talked to other shoppers and everyone suggested the Whirlpool model so I purchased it and had it installed. I like it, but I've only used it for the basics. I wish there had been a WRITTEN sheet(s) describing the steps that I needed to take for the various procedures. I'm trying to figure it out on my own...hence, the 4 stars.

Only improvement for me would be the keypad being backlit so I wouldn’t have to turn on a light to see the numbers, etc. not a big negative but the older you get the harder it is to see. Only other improvement would be to move the cavity light underneath the microwave to the front to better illuminate the stovetop. Current location lights up the kitchen wall but not the cooktop very well. Pleased with the function and appearance of the microwave.

Very easy to use. It's relatively quiet and I like having the +30 second button instead of one minute. The only thing I didn't like was the template to drill the holes in the top was a little challenging. They put the template on the box so you have to cut the cardboard for the template. Since you can't exactly use scissors, you have to use a box cutter to cut it. If you don't cut it exact, your template isn't going to be right, which was the case for me. Old unit had two incandescent lights and two vent fans underneath. New one has one of each and light is halogen type. Replaced fridge 3 years ago and it has 10 or more LED lights in it. Would like to see 4 or 5 LEDs under microwave. Nice inside finish. Not painted, but metallic type. Would also like to see panel buttons lit up. Can't read in dim light.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to replace a nearly 20 year old Jenn Aire microwave over the counter unit and purchased a Whirlpool unit. It is much lighter and was easier to install because of that. However, two things in particular I am not so thrilled about. First the turntable cannot be stopped from rotation and second the visibility thru the front door is too dark. Other than that, it works great and I like the 1,2,3 feature of instant minutes when pressed.

My wife likes the door handle because we had trouble with out previous one breaking and I had to replace it. The dark inside is nice because, but the light is terrible. It is so dim, you can barely see what is in the microwave when you open the door or when its running. Love everything, but the inside light. I'm going to see if I can replace the bulb with something brighter.

I like that is has a built in light feature as well as a fan to use above our oven / range. The light is not as bright and does offer a low and high medium setting. The filter for the fan is thin but is easy to remove and clean. It has great timing features! I would highly recommend this product if you are in need of an over the range microwave.

If I want to stir a dish, I have to either cancel or open the door while it's working. I'm a little afraid of doing that, and would prefer to be able to pause the cooking process, then open the door. Otherwise, my wife and I are very satisfied with the function of this device.

When it came time to replace we shopped around, but couldn't find anything that we thought would be better. So our original choice was good! We are equally pleased with this new model, our only criticism would be that it's a bit smaller than our previous one -- 1.9 cu. ft. vs. 2.1 cu. ft. We like the appearance, all the features, and the convenience of use.

Our prior Kenmore used to beep until you turn it off. This model gives 4 loud beeps and then repeats the beep like every minute. If your cooking needs an immediate reaction to the end of the cycle, it's not very convenient. It's all we found so far, but we've used it only a week.

Heating coffee for a minute and 10 seconds rather than a minute isn't a big deal. Just use it to heat, not cook. I have gone through 2 microwaves due to the door locks failing. I hope this one does better. Repair people tell me this is common and that most are not built well so you have to buy a new one.

Love the product and the Brand. My 5th Whirlpool appliance( washer, dryer, 2 fridges, and now this microwave). Had it for about a month now and it’s great! It had more space than I need but I love the size. The only thing I will say is just for over the oven microwaves in general. Please some how come up with a universal mounting system so this process is seamless. That was the hardest part going from a GE to Whirlpool.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this microwave a month ago it works perfect, however that blue light which displays the time I don't like it, it's not clear the green would have been better, also it does have the finger print resistant feature on there like how it boast, but those are minor complaints, product works great, Whirlpool is a great brand whom i have grown to love.
