I had the homePod for a couple months and unfortunately it wasn't for me. I feel that for the price it simply does not compare to a amazon alexa or google home. It really does way less than what any of those two can do and on top of that they are both cheaper. Before this I had a google home mini that I received for free and it did much more than what the homepod could do. After I gave away my homePod I got an alexa and to this day have it and I can say the same. My biggest issue with the homepod was the fact that it really felt incapable of doing things a assistant usually should be able to do without the requirement of using your iphone. Whenever I would try to ask it a fairly simple question that it could pull from the web easily like an alexa or google home could it would always say something like "I found some results, would you like me to send them to your phone?" And yeah that is a great feature to have if I wanted to see the results on my phone but If I wanted that I really would've just picked up my phone and asked siri on there. It may just be my personal preference but I like it when the assistant can read out loud results for the question you ask them. Not force me to grab my phone to see them. I don't know if apple designed it like this on purpose or if there are people out there who prefer it to function like that but I don't really like it. It was the main reason I got rid of it. It really felt like it couldn't do anything I wanted it to. I know some people have a apple eco system that this device probably works very well to sync everything up together but if you plan on buying this thinking it's apple's version of the alexa I would suggest you take a good look at it or try it out first. It did not meet my expectations very well. I don't want to totally bash this thing, I do believe it is a good device for certain things and that there are probably good reasons to buy this device apple probably would've discontinued it if there wasn't. Since then I've gotten myself into ring security which was bought by amazon so I got kinda forced into the amazon eco system which Is why I bought an alexa. Overall the device has it's pros and cons like every other device but this one in particular has room for improvement. I would buy an alexa over this. (I gave it to my brother and I'm not sure what he thinks of it but I'll add some pictures of it.)

I had my smart home running with Google assistant before. I switch to Home pod mini looking for the security features that comes with Apple OS and the integration with my others apple devices. I have to say that in that purpose works very well. I really enjoy how you can extend you iPhone messages, calls, etc to the home minis. I like how the music sounds on it, but, I miss some features that I had when I used Google assistant such as: Siri stop to hearing you after your request, then you have to repeat Hey Siri many times. When you have your hands busy and ask Siri something, the answers are sent to your iPhone, instead to be told to you as you was expecting. You can only use Apple Music with them, no Spotify or Youtube, or other app. I really hope Apple continues improving the software and add this capabilities.

It's an Apple product! Need I say anymore? Well, ok. It's set up was quick and easy. Like all Apple products. It tells my devices to work perfectly fine with no…\n\n“Sorry, (that other talking device made by that mail order shopping conglomerate) can't find your device, try checking your network connection.” No! She just doesn't know how to stay connected to devices every time she has an update.\n\nNo problems like that with this Apple HomePod mini. Connects to devices and plays like a charm!

I currently have the 2nd gen full size HomePods at home and love them but the Miinis were for work. Basing my decision on cost and limited space on my desk, I didn’t have high expectations but they’re pretty great! I bought 2 so I could have a stereo pair so I don’t know how just one sounds but as a pair they’re awesome for their size. I was really surprised by the amount of base these things had! Great purchase!

Apple products sync together with no effort needed. I just plugged it in and went to my iphone settings and they paired. Has too much bass so my sound settings on my iphone remote control has a reduced bass option.

Siri is not a very smart assistant, the audio quality is ok, but I primarily use this as a white noise machine and a home hub for my smart devices and it works well for those tasks!
