Camera's housing is cheap feeling, and the mount does not secure tightly, falls off it if bumped. Camera is nice and small, and surprisingly the small screen is easy to see. Quality of recording is minimal, grainy, and hard to make out details, even after enlarging on a screen. Records 1080 resolution, but hard to see details due to the grains and distortion in video (see screen of recording that I uploaded with review). Audio quality of video is to be distorted, and deep. Picks up the A/C blowing well over anything else, including the stereo, loud mufflers, and other noises. All and all for a $30 camera, it is more than adequate to help in difficult or unwanted situations. Would recommend as a daily use, especially with the more than adequate provided 8gb MicroSD card. Can easily be upgraded to a 32gb MicroSD for more storage. Don't use the picture mode, but tried, and not much better than video quality. Infrared is useless in low light, don't waste the power by turning it on, lol.\n\nOverall a great camera and would definitely buy again. Just make sure if you need a license plate to be almost bumper to bumper in order to clearly see the numbers. Great overall quality for price, and I am definitely impressed.

Works great and the screen goes off while driving so you won't get distracted. Came in helpful when someone crashed into us. It records up to about one hour which was the only down side to it. I did end up being a 16gb card and that recorded about 3 in a half hours.

For most of the days it works properly. It doesn't charge and therefore i have had to leave it connected, which is annoying. the image/video gets ruin and distorted often and I have to turn it off. sometimes while driving. when it does record properly, you can see video good but if you have it setup to continuously record it will delete ur videos starting from the last one. it is tiny which i like but constantly falls off the attachment and sometimes the suction loosens and everything comes down.

I've been wanting to pick up a dash-cam for some time now. While at my local Walmart six days ago I noticed that they carried two different models on the shelf: the Uniden iWitness DC1 for $39.99, and the clear Dash HD X-1000 for $20.99. Thinking, “How can I go wrong for either twenty or forty bucks, I bought one of each.\n\nMy final intention was to use the Uniden facing forward, and the clear Dash facing back; but, first I wanted a side-by-side comparison of both of them facing forward at the same time.\n\nBefore mounting them in my truck, I read both instruction manuals cover to cover, and then did a full system setup for both units in my living room. First thing I noticed was that the Uniden had a wider angle of view. Score 1 for Uniden.\n\nI also noticed, while reading the Uniden manual, that there was prominent mention of the "Reset" button on the Uniden… not “in case of,” but for “when” the Uniden crashed or stopped working... This was a big Red Flag.\n\nAs it turns out, that Reset button is an important and necessary feature of the Uniden. My Uniden stopped working on Day 1... Twice! The Uniden's screen locked up in Record Mode, and it stopped recording. I couldn't change any setting or even power it off. The only fix was the Reset button, which requires a straightened paperclip. I reset the Uniden, turned it back on, and a few hours later it was locked up again… That was Day 1.\n\nDay 2… More of the same. It wouldn't function properly for more than fifteen minutes at a time. I tried resetting the system settings. I tried reseating the memory card, which I have since read is a common issue. \n\nDays 3-5 were no different; so, I decided to take it back to Walmart for a trade-in. Walmart refunded my money without question; but, unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, they ran out of Uniden DC1s.\n\nIn the meantime, my twenty-dollar clear Dash HD X-1000 is performing like a champ so far. It doesn't have as wide a view as the Uniden, but it does have a larger, flip-down screen, and it has an AV-Out Port that I plan to utilize as a backup camera… once I find another one of these on the shelf somewhere.\n\nBottom Line: Don't waste your time with the Uniden iWitness DC1; or, if you do, tape your receipt to your refrigerator door so that you can easily find it again in a week when you need to return or replace it.

You get what you pay for. I was dumb enough to purchase 3 of these inexpensive cameras over the last 2 years and every one of them has never lasted more than 2 months. Don't waste your money. Garbage.

Great price and worked well when it worked. Then I got the "please insert sd card" error and that was the end of it despite reformatting SD cards, new SD card, etc... The Uniden website has no firmware updates, nothing at all for this camera, their sign up for account page doesn't work, and there is no phone number to contact them. Avoid Uniden products unless you are looking for a cheap product with a correspondingly short life...

The video quality is adequate for what it is. It provides a video record of any incidents that may occur. That's about it. Want better video spend more than $10 for an old dashcam. I used this specifically for mounting with 3M Dual Lock on a motorcycle dash behind a windshield as it has a flat surface with no controls on bottom. If something happens to it you haven't lost much. The controls and menu are perfectly fine. Anyone with reasonable intelligence can figure this out. May i suggest if there is some difficulty encountered in operating the buttons and the menu, it's probably not the camera that is the problem. The video quality is adequate for what it is. Initially, the camera was easy to use, out of the box plug and play. Worked fine for about a week then the screen turned purple. Then the screen started flickering. I decided to return it when it started randomly turning on and off - about a week post-purchase. Has a battery but it never charged despite it being plugged in for several hours at one point - not an issue if you use the cord but might be for some. Supposed to be "HD" but on playback the videos look like they came from a 10 year old flip phone; they're kind of fuzzy and you can't make out license plates unless the other car is right in front of you. Also, the codecs for the video aren't widely supported. You're supposed to be able to to connect the camera directly to a computer and watch or download the videos but my Chromebook and my PC wouldn't recognize the videos. I had to transfer the memory card to an android tablet and then connect the tablet to my work PC to even view the videos. Overall I was fairly disappointed with this product with all the issues that popped up right after purchase.

You can't beat this dash cam for the price. Video quality is great. It's easy to install and use. I do use a 16 GB SD card (not included) Rather than the standard 8GB that is included.

I’ve used this camera for over a year, and I know a few things.\n\nThe interface isn’t intuitive. The buttons don’t match the software prompts, and something as simple as setting the time can be frustrating as you try to guess the button you should be pressing.\n\nAnd you’ll be setting the time/date often, as the battery is small and, if you don’t drive your car often, will expire and require a resetting of the camera options.

On a picture perfect day I had to tailgate the car in front of me to make out the license plate. I'd hate to see the videos if it was cloudy outside.

Obviously not new, but for the low price, it’s still a good deal. Resolution claimed to be 1080p. Also not true, but good enough for the price. I liked it well enough to buy a second one.

Image quality is great. Also auto shuts off the display while keeps recording so as to not distract you when driving.\n\nOn some GM cars the power outlet is always on. I had to rewire one of my power outlets so it turns on and off with the ignition switch. I did this to accommodate the install, and it has nothing to do with the camera itself.

Sent with manual in a foreign language. Also, was just places in the box with out any protection.

won't hold a charge, otherwise works great if can plug in 24/7.

Glad I bought the camera got into accident and it prove that I was not at fault. The price are reasonable and video are not bad either watching in pc. I would highly recommened the way people driviing these day.

Poor video quality at night even with street lights. Constant software malfunctions and freezes. Had a driver hit me at night and absolutely zero video. Just black. Also, doesnt start auto writeover on SD card frequently. So if you dont check it wont record. Just totally disappointing. Its my third and worst dash cam. It went in the trash.

This unit will not hold a charge so it needs to be plugged in all the time. The picture freezes and sometimes goes black when it is fully charged or plugged in. The only Pro about this unit is that it recordes night time video really good.\nI am going to call Walmart tomorrow to see if I can return it. Horrible product!

I've taken it through all of the resolutions all work well depending on what you want. Functions work only haven't figured out how to change the time stamp but I do recommend it for the price.

The video quality is very good on this camera, simple to operate. The only drawback is the wide- very wide - angle lens.
