After installation, it has been great. Very convenient, especially after one of us has locked the door from the inside and another family member arrives home without a key - no more having to get up to let them in. But installation was an absolutely horrendous experience. I almost gave it 2 stars because of it. On the mounting plate (which is thivk metal), there are 2 so-called 'tab's that have to be snapped off! Why oh why are they even on there?? They are ever so slightly scored, but that doesn't help to snap off metal! I had to use 2 different sets of pliers, and after extending/flexing at the scored general area for over 20 minutes, I ended up twisting the metal to get the tabs off. My hands were raw after close to an hour of doing this. But I had no choice, it wouldn't fit in the 1 1/2" hold in my door frame if the "tabs" were left on, so I kept going... Dangerous as well - small bits and pieces of metal came off, could have flown in someone's eye under the safety glasses, or elsewhere (I'm a physician). Someone steps on it later... A lawsuit waiting to happen. Seems like such a simple product fix - don't they pilot-test these things? I thought perhaps mine was faulty, but BOTH 'tabs' were like this.

I've had a serious issue with my tween daughter who likes to break into my room and remove my things that she has no business with. Tried several standard locks to no avail, and as I'm scatterbrained it led to me losing the key or putting it where she would find it and the cycle would continue. \r\nGood luck now little girl! I hate that I have to do this but I'm so GRATEFUL for this! It was so easy to install I didn't even need my hubby so I'm super impressed with that as well! I wasn't sure what rip expect from this but I don't know how I ever lived without it now. \r\nI didn't know it required batteries, so if you're thinking of getting it make sure you have AAs. I keep them at all times so it wasn't an issue here. \r\nIt's SO easy to use this, seriously. I love that it auto locks, because like I said, scatterbrained. \r\nComes with a traditional key just in case you forget your code or need it. I literally can't find a single bad thing to say about this product. We will be getting more for our house doors, customer for life. \r\nOh yeah, and IT LOOKS NICE TOO!

So I like the lock and it works really well. I had a little trouble trying to input the first user code. After a bit of frustration I figured out that I had to turn the lock all the way around one time while it was disassembled. And then when I put it back together everything worked. What was happening for me that was causing the issue was that I would input the first time user code and no matter what I did it would extend the lock and retract the lock and then beep 3 times red. Once I disassembled it and turned the dial on the battery side one whole time and then reassembled it it worked. I hope my discovery helps someone else. Once I figured this out everything else worked fine.

It's a good product. Simple and easy to install. I was able to easily rekey the lock to my home key so I don't have to have so many keys. For the price, this is a good deal but I would have loved a polished chrome "color". \n\nA few things to point out:\n- this does not come with batteries so you will need to buy your own\n- this does not have wifi capabilities

Do not buy this lock! My son purchased and installed it for me. The comments from previous customers is spot on. I haven’t used it for a month and the programming of the key pad does not hold the code. Whether trying to unlock it with the code or set it to leave home, it’s a coin toss of what you will get. Truly the ONLY saving grace is the actual key that fits the door look to manually open or close the lock. It did work for about a week and then it just stopped accepting the code. Go figure! I am buying a replacement today!

I'm not always confident with my DIY abilities, but with his guidance, installation was quite simple. I installed the lock on my garage-to-house door and truly enjoy being able to have my house secured when I leave, without having to hunt for a key every time I leave/enter. I feel safe knowing that when I close my door I'm now also automatically keeping it locked until I return. The keypad is easy to use and also allows family members to enter without me having to go down a flight of stairs to let them in. Also like the ability to issue temporary codes, should the need arise. Wish I had installed this years ago!

I love the lock however I have a 32 inch steel door with a window and the lock set will not fit in the available space . I ended up installing on another door that I didn’t intend to but the lock was very easy to install and looks terrific!

happy with lock. VERY UNHAPPY WITH INSTALL. 1) 1.5” bore hole doesn't work with significant enlargement. 2) after mechanical install done, many different problems. couldn't get key out unless locked, with key out, couldn't turn interior to unlock. called 800 number. they took me through diagnostics and concluded that the lock was faulty and set up a return. WRONG!!! Disassembled, rotated shaft 180 degrees and reassembled. everything worked fine.

My 3 year old Kwikset keypad lock conked out so I replaced it with this one. Lower price than the one I replaced but it feels like an upgrade. The keypad is more solid, brighter and responsive. The motor is still noisy but engages and disengages quickly and precisely. The programming is the same but I like having a program button that I can use or overide with a code. The auto-lock feature is nice. I don't think my old one had that. It's nice to know that the door will lock if anyone forgets to lock it. Will see about batteries. Batteries lasted about a year with my last unit. Everything else was easily replaceable. A++++

Got a new lock. It can be straight outside or in but not both. installed it, looked good on outside. but was crooked on inside. fixed it straight on outside. made it crooked inside. hoping it is better than the schlage that just quit working when it fell apart on the inside. but this is not giving me hope that the quality is any better.

The power bolt works as expected. It replaced an earlier version that had a mechanical failure/issue. This unit is easy to code and a quick install if you have the hole already present. The older version had a symbol for a lock that was more intuitive; this one has only the Quickset logo on white plastic; it is not obvious to some what to do with it. Overall, a good replacement for a lock that lasted for 8 years.

This Kwikset Powerbolt 250 keypad was easily installed to replace an existing Kwikset keypad that ceased working after almost 20 years. The instructions were very clear and helpful. The design is classic and beautiful and the\noperation is exceptional. The only drawback was that I couldn’t use all the existing holes in the door. However with a little wood putty and touch up paint, the problem has been resolved.

I bought this July 2025 and it worked well for a while. Then the lock started to jam.In the locked position the gears would have some resistance and it could not unlock itself. Therefore, I would be locked outside a lot of times. I registered the product for warranty, but I haven't heard back yet. Calling on the phone is not convenient because of the hours and having to be home to look at the product. I want this lock to work. I tried reinstalling in 3 times per the instrction guide to see if I was doing something wrong. It works after reinstallation for 4-5 lock cycles, then it finds another gear jam and doesnt work.

We have had this Powerbolt 250 for a year. Easy to install, and easy to use. We just love it. We never use the key, only the pushbuttons to enter and exit. It has never failed us. I don't know how there could be any negative reviews unless it is user error. I have 8 rental properties, and I only use Quikset locks. They all work great.

You must follow the directions step by step. The first lock I installed I just kind of looked at the pictures. It didn't work. Had to take it all apart and redo. I have three now and I love them. It even has the little tool so you can rekey the lock to your old house lock if you want. Reasonable in price.

I purchased this lock for my garage. It doesn’t require a thumb print when my hands are dirty. It doesn’t require me to always have a key with me. I can easily access the walk door. This lock was simple to install. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. I recommend this lock!
