I initially got attracted to the Panasonic Lumix G7 because of the 4K video capabilities. After about 3 months of using it, I really love the video quality and ease of use. I can extract pictures from the 4K videos or I can just record HD videos with excellent resolution. For taking pictures, in addition to the standard features, it has many filters and special effects that make it a fun camera to use. It does have an iA(+) setup that will automate all the settings and give you a very good picture. The main pro's are... very light, (camera and lenses) great video recorder, (4K is fabulous) and it is a great mirrorless camera for the value. In addition, the view finder is awesome! it works like a small screen where you can see all your setup while showing the video in real colors. The cons are... The 4K video is not as smooth as the standard HD video when playing it. Also, when you record and pan the camera, if you are also zooming in or out, the recording will not show smoothly. That said, I have shelved my Nikon D90 and I have been using exclusively the G7 and I love it.

I am a wedding videographer. I purchased the G7 3 months ago and use the 12 to 32mm pancake lens entirely. I use the G7 on a 3-axis gimbal 50 % of the time during my wedding day. It is extremely light, compared to my regular sized DSLR. It has so many options, yet I have it set on manual everything, except for auto focus single. I use the 4K option very little. I almost always use the HD 1920X1080 59fps. format, so I can slow the motion down. The quality of the video is as good as my Canon 80D(my 2nd wedding video camera). I love the articulating touch screen. It makes adjusting ISO, shutter speed, aperture, white balance extremely intuitive. Plus, the touch the screen where I want focused is so easy while recording. In addition, It auto focuses on my selected point when I press record. Even the battery lasts alot longer than expected. While I rarely use it for taking pictures, it is bar far the quietest and fastest camera I have ever used in picture mode. This is a Grand Slam of a home run!

After doing a fair amount of research (both by camera enthusiasts at BestBuy and from youtube bloggers) I decided it was time to trade in my Nikon 1 J5 towards the G7. I am quite happy with the transition. The camera has a little bit of a learning curve (many functions and customization). Once you nail down what buttons are what, setting up the shot through the electronic viewfinder is a dream. The touchscreen is super fast and responsive. My primary use is videography and night time photography where my previous camera struggled. The G7 does super well in various conditions and I really enjoy its size - just small enough for basic portability, and big enough to do force you to frame your shots. I did get a mic attachment and several magnifier attachments to do macro nature photography. While the body is mostly plastic, the form factor is lightweight yet durable that it strikes a good balance in quality confidence. I've attached a couple of test shots I took.

Pros: Long zoom, weather resistant, sharp viewfinder.\n\nCons: Small sensor, numerous menu options\n\nOther thoughts: I've only had this camera for a few weeks so haven't had it long enough to give an extensive review. I own a Canon DSLR and Canon Powershot but wanted something for my upcoming trip to Costa Rica. This fits the bill perfectly. I didn't want to constantly change (and carry around) a lot of lenses but wanted the super zoom that my Powershot lacked. The fact that it is weather resistant, especially in the rain forest, is an added bonus. The menu is a bit of a learning curve as others have mentioned but I think it will be worthwhile once I have mastered how to navigate it. I did a lot of research and was debating between the fz300 and fz1000 but just couldn't justify the price (on the fz1000). I'd rather save and put my money toward upgrading my DSLR someday. For now, however, I think this camera will prove to be a worthwhile investment.

I bought this to move on from my DSLR and am very happy with all of the features. The controls are relatively easy to use coming from the incredible Nikon UI. I have taken it on vacation and the battery lasted all day of shooting in an airport and on the plane. The low light performance is also very good and it surprised me with the RAW quality it gave when shooting at night. I have done some wildlife work with it and the autofocus is more than good enough for small mammals and ok for birds. The one thing I don’t love is the programmable features. There are enough Fn buttons but the options that the camera gives you are limited to certain areas of the camera. The kit lens is great for a beginner like myself and works fine for portraits and has nice bokeh when zoomed out. Overall it is a great budget mirrorless camera for anyone looking to get into digital photography.

Affordable price with most essentials you'll need for great photography and videography with a great camera. I am very pleased with the quality of this camera and the accessories that come with it. Everything fits in both camera bags perfectly and I chose to use the Ape Case bag because it's so compact, lightweight and comes with a weather cover and I have found that to be very useful. I'm still looking at the programs that come with the package to see if they're useful for my needs or not, I'll probably stick with my normal programs. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. But, I would recommend looking at other bundles that come with another lens because the kit lens is pretty good, but I would have bought a bundle that comes with another lens so I could have saved a few bucks.

As a Panny shooter, I had anticipated this would be an incremental bump from my last camera. BOY was I wrong. Even at its current age the G7 seems able to hold its own. Image quality is impressive out of the box, and improves with better lenses. Shooting modes, color profiles and customizations make this a tiny powerhouse. Add 4K video capability and still or video you have a winner. \r\n \r\nThe kit lenses punch measurably above their weight, although they do whet one's appetite for more. The 45-150 is especially travel-friendly - one reason I picked up the kit - and the 14-42 is more than adequate for everyday shooting or street photography. \r\n \r\nI'm giving four stars here strictly for the lack of IBIS in the G7 body. But at this price you can't have everything, and the body is light enough, especially with the kit lenses both of which have OIS, to make in-body a lesser consideration. \r\n \r\n \r\nAll in all a well-rounded package at a fairly decent price point, especially if you can catch it on sale.

It's A Lightweight Workhorse That Never Disappoints. I Use It For Street Photography, Landscape And Cityscape. My other camera is a Canon 6d with a 24-105mm L lens, so I have a goos basis for comparison. The image quality is truly outstanding, given the size of the sensor. The things you can do with this camera are amazing. Video is, of course, excellent. It is kind of a perfect grab-n-go alternative to my Canon. Also, it is very easy to use alternative lenses. Very satisfied. By the way, I returned a Sony A6000 because I could never warm up to it. I think that the Sony cameras are very overpriced given the quality and features they offer. \r\nTrendy, for sure, but way overrated and over priced.

I've been in desperate need for a decent camera to practice filmmaking on, and I was pretty nervous about which one to pick initially, but I can honestly say I'm very glad I chose this camera. For it's price, this camera is very sturdy, and takes incredible pictures/ video. I love everything about it so far, except for the battery life. Wonderful image quality, extremely customizable. Been using Nikons for DECADES, and this is the camera that made me completely switch over to Panasonic. What a delight to carry such a light camera! The 14-140 lens is exceptionally sharp for a superzoom. At a wedding last Saturday, I shot the whole cake-cutting ceremony as a 4K video clip and pulled stills out of it later. Was able to advance frame-by-frame to get precisely the moment I wanted to capture as a still photo.

I absolutely love this camera, it is compact, is upgradable with a lot of lenses to choose from, but just the base product is exactly what I need. It is a great video camera and daily photo camera. Why did I buy an older G7 in 2023? Great value in a light and small package with a great kit lens. I already have a full Sony set up for still photography, but needed a video set up. And for the price of 1 new Sony video body, I could get TWO G7's with lenses. Seemed like easy math to me. And after using these cameras for a few weeks now I KNOW I made the right choice. I'm really impressed with the quality video I get from the Lumix.

This was my first real camera, which I've had throughout most of high school. Though I'm now finding myself to be outgrowing it in more ways than one, the G7 was an excellent first camera, and it's served me loyally. (Been through a few repairs, but Panasonic's customer service/warranty program is really great.) The 14-42 kit lens is quite bad, though, so you'll want to immediately look for something else.

I've had the camera for about 7 months now and have been extremely happy with it! I purchased a 25mm f1.4 prime and a 45-150 telephoto lens and everything works wonderfully. My only gripe is that external monitors cannot be used properly since display shuts off while filming but everything else has been fantastic! The Panasonic app allows me to connect an iPad or my phone to use as an external monitor, and external mics can be connected using the microphone input. I've used both DJI mic minis and Rode shotgun mics with great success. A great camera for the price, and I highly recommend!
