Great camera. Wrongly maligned by reviewers who just do not get what this camera is, and who it is intended for. Think about how a camera works: You adjust aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to obtain a proper exposure. You can do this manually or you can selectively automate one or more of these functions. Occasionally you need to adjust overall exposure and flash output levels. Sometimes you want a burst of several shots at once. Sometimes you use auxiliary flash strobes to add a little more light. You want to select one more focus and exposure points, among several choices. Yep - this camera does it all, and pretty much every camera does all of this - plus more, but think whether you really need all those other features the camera manufacturers push as essential these days - they are rarely used and really do not affect the basic functions setting aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. This camera provides "enough" flexibility - in these basic functions, as well as burst shooting, flash manipulation, and so forth. This camera does as much as nearly all high cost "professional" cameras sold in the near to distant past, and a lot of guys built their business on those older "pro" grade cameras - so what's not to like? This camera works, well, and easily and just makes sense. I own multiple "pro" level full frame and APS-C bodies that cost far more than this little gem, and this keeps up admirably. After all, it does pretty much everything older, pro level cameras do - I do not always want or need all the newer, extra high-tech features to capture good images. Those features sound cool, but I rarely need them. I am a semi-pro, advanced consumer hobbyist who often shoots for commercial clients - more of a retirement avocation than a daily business, but I do make money on commercial shoots - and this little gem has performed well - because it does what all cameras do, just not all the frilly techno extra features touted as necessary on other cameras. Just enough to do the job - it fills its role as an entry level camera for general, and occasional commercial, projects. Very pleased with this basic bargain camera. Ask yourself if you REALLY need all those other fancy features before you finalize your purchase decision. I am pleased to add this to my larger arsenal of camera bodies. Of course, this is just MY take - your mileage may vary. TT

Canon Rebel T7 is a great little camera this my third one. As an advanced photographer I use this camera when I travel for work (no I don’t travel as a photographer for work) I can put it my truck and not worry about it. I started out in photography with a T7 and my first one broke (completely my fault) the second one was traded in for a Nikon Z8 and now my 3rd is my truck camera. The Z8 is for when I’m home and the T7 is for traveling. This is a great beginner camera or a get back to basics camera without all the functionality of a high end camera I bought this with only the 18-55mm lens not as a two lens kit. The 18-55mm and 75-300 seem cheap while they are good to learn on I find the 18-135mm USM lens is a combination for this little camera I also use Tiffen filters with it as well . This camera for it is isn’t a bad camera at all I have several pictures were out performed my Z8 so don’t think a $500 camera is no good because it is it’s all in how you use it

In 2022 about halfway through the season my trusty old Sony A7 classic finally gave out, so I went to my backup camera the Canon Rebel T7. All these years later and I'm going through all the photos from my trip, and every once in a while I would open up a photo and think to myself "oh this one must be from the Sony A7", but actually turned out to be the Canon Rebel T7 with the cheapo 18-55mm kit lens. The photos had excellent color, detail, & depth. The camera is light, compact, reliable, easy to navigate, & produces very decent photos for the amount of money invested. At it's price point it makes a great first camera for beginners who want to photograph for a while to see how they like it before making a larger financial investment. Honestly can't think of any negatives. To bad Canon doesn't make a Rebel sized full frame camera for outdoor traveller's.

I still use my "big" Canon cameras - my faithful older models - for situations where I may need a specific feature. But I purchased the complete two lens R100 kit for easier, faster packing and quick use during my travels. I have to say, this little go-to wonder excels at that. Best of all, it was priced at a really great value! I leave the camera out all the time: on a desktop or counter, for quick-grab shooting around the house. When I'm not using the kit lenses, I often adapt my Canon EF, EF-S, optics and my various film era lenses as well for fun and slower-paced "contemplative" photography. I am thankful Canon understands that the "right" camera can mean many things to many people. My R100 has all the built-in features I need and more for my purposes. After all, it's not the size of the camera in the shoot; it's the size of the shoot in the camera.

I know absolutely nothing about cameras (ISO, Aperture, etc) however I needed a camera to film my self tapes and my vlogs for my youtube channel "Janel Yarber" because I have been using my phone.\nThe sales associate advised this was a very good camera it was between this and the Canon M50 which is a mirrorless camera. I heard dslr cameras are hard to learn and are for the more experienced, however he told me this particular dslr is easy to learn. \nI am not going to lie it is taking me some time to get the hang of it and I am still learning everyday (I actually got mad at the camera but it was just me not knowing how to use it) BUT I've noticed the more I figure out what I am doing the better the photos and videos become. I like this camera a lot and can't wait until I'm a pro with using it.

Fantastic camera for getting into photography with. I'm not a professional by any means — for stills, I use it mainly to document the things happening around me. I primarily use it as a video source for recording my church's Sunday services though, and it does that job well.\n\n\nI do wish I could connect video, and/or power it through the USB-C port, and occasionally miss having a flip-out screen, but did not have room in the budget for those extras. If not having those is an issue, I would recommend the EOS R50, RP, or R10.\n\n\nThese pictures are some of what I've captured in the 8 months since purchasing this camera. The video... isn't a meaningful moment of any sort, simply a demonstration of the camera's quality.

The first issue (as noted by others) is the 70-300mm lens is actually a 75-300mm lens. Not an issue for me, but others have complained. From a practical point, the LCD is fixed and cannot be tilted etc., but can be overcome by using a cell phone or tablet with app to view from other angles. I use an old android cell phone without a sim card as a dedicated control/LCD unit. I also added 24mm and 50mm prime lenses and a better (larger) camera bag. I find the general feel to be clumsy in my old hands, and the lens release button awkward, both issues overcome with a tripod and my android control. This is a good camera for learning real photography techniques (as compared to tiny format cellphone point and shoot pictures) and I would recommend it for beginners to advanced photography.

Too many great features to list, but it rivals the higher priced professional models. Great for someone who wants quality photos and video but is not a professional photog. I'm still discovering things it can do and it's user friendly. It came with a lens that I didn't already have. The screen is large and has multiple display options, plus it has a through the lens viewfinder also. Price was excellent and I had it 2 days after I ordered it. Very happy.

Wanted to start taking my photography more seriously and hadn't picked up a real camera in maybe a decade, and I couldn't be happier with the EOS R100. Easy to use and hands-on with the controls, the connectivity with my phone to share photos is great, and the essentials kit is aptly named -- so hassle-free having an SD card and carrying case arrive with the camera so I can pack up and start taking photos. Great for someone just starting in photography or someone who just wants a compact, professional-feeling camera to bring around.

Newbie photographer here so take this with a grain of salt: this thing is great!!! I started a small online business and I needed good product photos. I was using an iPhone and the results weren’t what I wanted. Took the plunge to buy an actual camera and… WOW! Like, holy cow the difference is stunning. Dropping the photos into post-production on iPhone vs this thing, the difference is staggering. The camera takes amazing pictures, as long as you do your part. If your story is similar to mine, don’t hesitate, buy it!

It's lighter weight is the #1 factor in purchase and I love that the eye piece automatically goes on when you put your eye on the viewfinder. It has a lot of features and settings that I'll never use but others may like. It took a lot of searching and research but I'm happy with what I found and happy I bought through B&H rather than that online monster store.

I bought this camera late 2025 when i wanted to start getting more into photography. I’d say this is one of the best cameras to start with, you can play with the settings, figure out if you’d want to upgrade, overall you can play with photography. The only problem I’ve had with this camera was the slow autofocus, it tends to really annoy me when I’m trying to take photos of fast moving objects or just a quick little photo. I’ve taken quite a few good photos with this camera, I’d definitely recommend it to beginners.

For the price range you can complain. Definately not an indoor lens (with low light). Great for sunny, outdoor shooting. Park, zoo, great lens. I normally run manual mode when I shoot. Slow shooting in auto mode (not so slow that you will miss the shot). Pros:
-Inexpensive
-Good sharpness
-Good Color
-Awesome Zoom
-Decent Focus (In Auto Mode) Cons:
-No Image Stability (IS)
-Not the greatest in lowlight (Not many zoom lenses are)
-Cheap Build I do recommend if you want the extra zoom and are shooting outdoors.

I love this camera! It lets a beginner like me take nice pictures. The reason I am only giving it 4 stars is that I am having a hard time learning how to share my pictures. I couldn’t find instructions in the manual. I found a video, downloaded the app, & followed the instructions until it stopped & I can’t get past that step. I am hopeful that when I try to call Canon support tomorrow they can help me. However if you are tech savvy you probably won’t have any trouble.
