This is a solid economical entry level printer. It connected seamlessly with our home network. Prints are crisp, clear, and quick. I am mildly disappointed with the clarity of online information and instructions. The machine claimed to be duplex capable (print both sides) which is true but you must manually turn over the document and feed to print the 2nd side. Similarly, a firmware update's instructions are vague and apparently only work if the machine is hardwired to your computer during the update.

This laser printer produces high quality b&w prints and connects to my home network so I can print with ease from my company and iPhone. I recommend for high quality and if you're on a budget. Problems I've had are it's a real headache trying to do firmware updates to the printer using the Brother mobile app and also the web interface. It doesn't impede my ability to print but it doesn't work and I get continuous reminders.

Great Printer. Have used/prefer Brother printers for years. \nPros: 1.relatively easy to set up, 2. good print quality and speed. 3. Consider it good value purchase price. \nCons: 1. Issues with updates and need to update Firmware almost every other week. 2. Constant 'ding' to sign up for automatic ink/cartridge subscription. Will not do. Might be advantage for a high volume usage - we do not have a high volume usage.

I was initially pleased with my printer. However, it now goes on Deep Sleep mode and your solutions don't help. I have several topics in cue but printer does not recognize command. I installed app and follow that, have had a geek try to resolve it and might work for 1 hour but goes into Deep Sleep mode and have to start over. I am considering junking it and buying a HP printer that works. Frustrated and annoyed.

I really like brother printers. This one setup easily to the home network. It's a fine printer. The only issue is the automatic updates wants a password which is on a sticker in the back making it inconvenient to read. To make matters worse the update software will not accept it so no updates can be installed.

Works well but once in a while I have to reconnect it to my EEM network. Saw the (very surprising) note in the online documents. IMHO I should be able to disable Sleep and Deep sleep. Both can be just a big pain to deal with. No value. Both reflect attitudes similar of other printer vendors.

I'm sold on laser printers. This is my first one and it's much better than any ink jet. The toner doesn't dry out and there are never any alignment or smearing issues. However, I wish this printer would stay connected to WiFi when the power goes out. The reconnect process is not easy.

We got this printer for someone older who is not very tech savvy. So far it's been a great decision. It was extremely easy for a young teen to install and get running. It prints great, and the ink is solid and consistent. It is only black and white, but for the quality I love this type of printer due to the crispness of the printing. \nIt does require a few things like hitting ok after putting the paper in - which isn't a big deal at all for people accustomed to basic tech stuff, but it is something to learn if you're someone that's not the type to embrace tech, so to speak. \nOverall, it's a super simple install, simple to run, works well, and haven't had any issues so far. Holds a decent amount of paper, great for a small home office.

Be sure you carefully read product descriptions. I didn’t see that this model doesn’t duplex. Had I noticed I would have purchased next higher priced model. As far as this printer - it works just fine.

I like everything about the printer... I am having one issue with it recognizing my phone, but it connected to my laptop without any issues at all... Other than that,bits a great printer...

Works well when not deep asleep.I still haven't figured out to wake the printer. All in all , I have been happy with my new printer.

Works as it should but same printer years ago could print both sides of the paper...this one cannot.

How do I get HL-2405W to print on both sides of the paper? Otherwise it isa doing great.

Just call B&H and they will walk you through the setup. It doesn't seem to be as easy as it used to. \n I'm glad I finally bought a laser printer, no messing with that ink. I just needed black and white/ monochrome printer. The toner goes a lot farther, and doesn't dry out like ink. This is a single function printer, with no scanner or copier, just like I wanted.\n I don't recommend messing with Wi-Fi ,unless you want added headaches. \n So just call B&H. \n I have it right next to my gaming computer that I also bought from b&h. \n I always shop B&H !!!

Great little printer. Replaced a color multifunction printer.

Easy to use, easy to connect to WIFI, and that's not all! I recently slipped on an errant dog toy. The printer was on the island near the offending toy. Going down, I grabbed for the island, missed, and sent the printer flying. Upon hitting the floor it exploded into a few parts. Dusting myself off and picking up the pieces and quietly cursing I figured the printer was finished. Wrong! After reassembly, I sent a file from my iPhone and unbelievably, this Brother printer worked. No streaks, fuzziness, or weird noises. Color me uber impressed!

I have done a bunch of research and this seems like one of the best printers for monochrome printing at home. \nThis $120 laser printer, is way better than cheaper inkjet printers, and the cartridge refills are reasonably priced. Unlike inkjet, the cartridges don't dry out over time. \n\nThe software could be better. Its annoying how on every step its trying to sign you up for their ink subscription. It must have been over 10 times that i was asked to sign up for it while setting up my printer, but once its set up, it just keeps working

This printer was a recent purchase for me replacing the exact model that I had originally purchased back in 2012. Since I had the same model printer previously, and that one worked great for many years, I went ahead and bought the updated version. I don't do a lot of printing, but this is a quality built product with printed pages that look great. A plus for me was that the cable from my previous Brother printer still fit my updated one since I don't use the wireless function when printing documents.

I found setting this printer up…horrible. That said, I finally figured out I had obtained “connection”. Also learning, I needed to have the APP to make function which happened by mistake, as I certainly in my 80th year has been unknown to me. My other printer is at least eleven years old and requires a cable connection for some printings. The Brothers is a dream to me in printing wirelessly. I do not print very often and I still fumble into the process; but am very thankful for the results to date.

I do not believe that Brother has made a device I have not “liked.” Now, I like some more than others, but Brother has to be one of the most reliable printer manufacturers out there. In my experience, their products have worked for many years and usually work very well. The HL-L2405W laser printer is no exception. When properly set up, it works very well. Prints are clean, dark, and fast. I personally had some issues with the set up of this printer, but once it was working, I really liked the print quality. Setup: Following the printer instructions, I set the printer up with an Android phone. In theory, you can connect the printer to your wi-fi network using the thin, tiny, arrow only control display. But practically, that was a bit of a nightmare. Thankfully, phone set up was pretty simple and I was online in no time. Experience: I originally thought set up would be easy. My Windows 11 PC detected the printer in no time and a driver was installed and running pretty quickly. However, trying to update the firmware on my Windows 11 PC resulted in timeout problems. I was only able to update the firmware after I used my smartphone to perform the procedure. Also, while technically functional, the stock drivers that come with Windows 11 are not particularly good for this printer. I had random artifacts during prints. One artifact resulted in what looked like a hole punch in the top right of every other page. I never had these problems when printing with my phone or an iPad via Airprint. Eventually, after some headaches, I installed the updated driver from Brother’s website. That improved the feature set and print quality immensely. So, if you are having problems with your prints on Windows 11, make sure you have the latest driver. Installing the driver-only installation was a bit tricky as I had to add the device and search for driver download and it was a bit finicky. Save yourself the headache, install the full printer feature package before you set the printer up. Outside of a rocky start, the print quality has been exceptionally good. The 1200DPIHQ setting looks great. Prints on MACs look good. The printer is fast. Compared to some other laser printers, the HL-L2405W produced a much darker print on the same paper. I thought the gradient range was good, but the printer was darker than other laser printers I had used in the past. I noticed few lines or defects in the print. After printing close to 100 pages, I found I had used ten percent of my toner. Brother advertises up to 1200pages on the non-XL toner and I am getting close to that. Brother also has a subscription service to replenish toner. I like the idea in theory, but I am not a fan of extra subscriptions at the moment. But the printer came with a few free months of the service. I also like the fact that there is a separate tray for envelopes and smaller print jobs. My only other con is that I wish this had automatic duplex printing. I feel like that should be a standard feature for a printer used in a small office setting, but that is just me. Conclusion: This is a quick laser printer. Prints look dark and crisp. My only complaint is that Windows 11 driver setup seemed a bit more difficult than it should have been. Purchased this after researching printers on Consumers Report. Fed up with price of ink and reliability of ink jet printers. Chose this model over Brother model which is a little cheaper and can print two sides thinking simpler is better and have never needed to print two sided documents. Haven't used it a lot but so far so good. Have a good feeling about this one. Returned my last printer (HP inkjet) at Costco shortly after purchase after hassles setting it up.

It was l wireless printing compatible with my Mac, easy to set up and use, and easy to update the firmware. It hasn’t jammed or streaked even once. Just chugs along reliably day after day.
