We’ve had this GE Unitized Washer/Dryer for just over a week, and so far, so good! It’s very easy to use, which is a big improvement compared to our previous Electrolux HE front-load stackable set. That one had too many buttons and options, plus we constantly struggled with mold around the washer drum gasket. After only five years, the washer bearings started failing, and since they were a stacked pair, we had to replace both.\n\nThis GE unit feels refreshingly straightforward—simple controls and no gasket issues to worry about. I’m hopeful it will be easier to maintain and much less prone to mold buildup. The only downside so far is that the machine makes a bit of loud, clunky noise during the first few minutes of the wash cycle. It’s a little annoying, but not a dealbreaker for us.\n\nOverall, very happy with the purchase so far and looking forward to seeing how it holds up long-term.

My 8 year old Roper died. I decided to replace the side by side Roper washer and dryer with this space saving unitized model. My wife recently passed so there is less weekly laundry now. The stainless steel washer basket has plenty of capacity and more for my needs and would have done nicely if there were still the two of us. The Roper had a white enameled basket. Over time, the enamel became chipped (it was my fault!) but this allowed for rust to set in. I don't think corrosion will ever be an issue with this stainless steel basket. Cycle choices allow for delicates to bulky items, water levels and temperatures. The larger capacity dryer actually allows quicker drying for bulky sheets, blankets and towels. Surprisingly, my white T-shirts seem to come out cleaner/brighter, too. The washer's agitator I think does a better job than the Roper ever did. Choices of water levels and temps are just what I needed, too. Both units were surprisingly and pleasantly quieter, the washer especially - less vibration. than either old Roper units. A great bonus - and an obvious one - is how much larger the laundry room seems to be with the unitized spacemaker washer/dryer combo! This model is an excellent choice for me, or even a family of 3 or 4. The only thing I would change: I need larger print on the machine. I mean, I wear readers, but who wears readers doing laundry? Me. I wear readers to do the laundry. But seriously, I am so happy I pulled the trigger and bought this model!

I would've given 3.5 stars if I could. The cons, in my opinion, are strange sounds when washing. Dryer lint trap is the worst. My old Frigidaire lint trap was cleaned with a single swipe of an index finger. The lint trap with this unit is anything but easy to clean. Awful. I was scraping with my thumb nail on both surfaces, to eventually remove the lint. My wife suggested using a new toothbrush on it. I did and it's a better. Not great, but passable. Would've got a replacement Frigidaire, but orders for it were backed up causing a considerable wait. We couldn't wait, and settled. Installation, cycles, and capacity all fine.

Altho I love the unit overall, I do wish I'd paid attention to a couple of things. I can't simply soak then rinse things. The lights for the washer flash in different sequences, so you can't tell by a glance, how close it is to being done. The washer d-o-e-s spin things practically dry, so that's nice. However, it seems to have a tough time balancing loads. I've tried washing the same items on different settings, to help it out, all to no avail. The dryer's pretty straightforward. All in all, it's a decent product - wish I'd either paid more attention to cycle details and/or had a bigger budget at the time of purchase.

So far I am very satisfied with my purchase of the unitized washer and dryer. I like the ease in loading and unloading the unit, how the washer spin cycle wrings the clothes out so dry, and how fluffy the clothes are after the drying cycle. \nThe wash cycle is a bit noisy, but I have gotten used to it and it doesn't bother me at all now. \nThe installation went very smoothly and the installers were very helpful in removing both of the old washer and dryer. \nI especially like the fact that the unit takes up a smaller space in my laundry room yet the capacity is as a full-size washer and dryer.

Now that we have a unit that works, I really like it. It looks nice, has good capacity, a nice variety of cycles, is quieter than what we had before and seems to do well with a variety of load sizes and weights. I gave it a 4 because it took 3 tries to finally get one that worked. The first one leaked all over, the second one had a bad noise in the dryer. Both were returned at, or immediately after delivery. The 3rd one looks great and works well, like I expect from a GE appliance. It was just unfortunate that we had the significant inconvenience of having 2 "lemons" first.

I got this to replace my old GE stackable washer dryer that departed this world at the age of 26 years old. This new one has a lot more useful control settings, and the lack of an agitator, which took a little getting used to, is great for washing larger bulkier items. The spin cycle is extremely powerful and although a bit loud and high-pitched (during my first use I thought a GE 747 Turbofan jet engine was spooling up for takeoff in my utility closet), it does a fantastic job of extracting ne...

I am hoping that I will not run into the same issues with the knobs on the front wearing down, not turning to the correct selection and eventual breaking. it was expensive to replace them, and while I could turn them, they still didn't line up correctly - we had to guess. Finally the agitator quit, which is why I have a new one.

As part of my aging-in-place program, I had to move my w/d upstairs from 'the dungeon'. I am still doing the stairs, but who's to say 'how long'? This unit met my specs for space-saving and I installed it close to directly above basement plumbing and electrical (required extra 1st floor clearance - photo). Overall - satisfactory and surprisingly roomy. But reviews about operation noise…whoa, is it! And I have concerns about the lint filter - no way is everything being captured that should be.

The unit gets the job done well. The washing machine is incredibly noisy for a brand new model. It shakes and wobbles it makes sounds that alarm me to the point where I think something is breaking and have to check the load several times. This is a brand new machine. I would expect it to run silently and to not give me any trouble. But the overwhelming noise and movement that it makes while in progress of washing is something very concerning. I have no problems with the dryer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The washer and dryer work great. The only downside is that the interior of the dryer knob, which is made of plastic, cracked constantly resulting in the knob not being able to grip the timer to turn on the dryer. I have went through at least ten dryer knobs and I'm not exaggerating. Finally, a friend put a wire washer nut inside the around the hole on the interior of the knob to prevent it from cracking. So far it has worked.

I then started to put the soap in & let it begin agitating before I opened it up & added the clothes. This takes time away from me. I would also like it to add more water to wash the clothes. Is there a way that more water can fill up before starting to wash the clothes?

I agree with other comments about the apparent balance issue with the dryer door not staying open far enough. I may rate again after I figure out how well the auto features work and see if the longer run times increase my electric bill. Those unknowns are why I am giving a 4 rating for now.
