I started all-around yard work this week. My primary task is picking up a lot of tree leaves from flower beds and in clumps around fences. The blower worked fine, blowing leaves onto the grass for a quick pickup with a mulching mower. The highest power of the blower did not get all of the leaves, especially those nestled together. So I tried the vacuum. For the most part, the vacuum did the job well. Leaves were sucked in and mulched. However, to get many of the leaves I had to put the vacuum head very close to them. I have a stone mulch around the house and at times stones (lava rocks) were sucked into the unit and I heard a grinding noise. When I dismantled the unit, all interior parts looked fine.\r\nIf this unit stands the test of time, if it works for a few years as it did for me on my first try, the unit at the price I paid for it is not only a GREAT BUY, but a STEAL! Time and repeated use on my yard will determine a final rating. \r\nWhy 4 stars? The instructions for hooking up all parts are poor. Fortunately I have a mechanical son, and between our two heads and trial and error, we got both the blower and vacuum together correctly. After doing so, the instructions still left a bit to be desired. An on-line video of setup would be preferred.

Since purchase in early December, I've used this blower/vac a few times and it's performed admirably. I replaces a Yardman over-and-under blower/vac and it has similar power. It vacuums leaves and small debris well, mulching them reasonably finely. It hasn't clogged. The blower has sufficient power to move leaves and small debris efficiently. The dual handles make it fairly easy to hold and manipulate. I've decided not to use the strap that's attached to the bag -- it's not as well placed or as useful as it should be for over-the-shoulder use, and the bag doesn't get overly heavy. The zippered bag is easy to dump into a receptacle. Swapping from blower to vacuum is sufficiently easy to not be taxing, With my earlier Yardman over-and-under, switching between vac and blower was a simple lever movement, so I just have to get acclimated to swapping out the blower and vac pieces with the B&D machine. But they're well made and swap with simple snap on-snap off. So far I'm pleased with this purchase.

The Black and Decker high performace "Leaf Hog" is a great way to get the most bang for your buck. You will be suprised by the power of both the blower and the vacuum in this fairly light weight, electric unit. Changing from one attachment to the other is very easy, with only one button to push. The vacuum/mulcher makes short order of large piles of leaves. If there is a down side to the unit, it is that the vacuum bag, which is slung over the shoulder, is a little small and needs to be emptied frequently. I have learned to live with this minor inconvience. Black and Decker does offer an optional extension tube that attaches to a much larger container for the mulched material, but I have never used one. I would be interested in reading a review from someone who has. I have used much more expensive gas powered blowers and vacuums, but none were any better, and several not as good. This is the second "Leaf Hog" I have purchased. The first one is running fine. We just wanted to make our yard work time shorter.

This does not hold a charge for very long. It also comes with only one battery so you have to share it both tools. I leave it constantly charging. If you unplug it, it loses charge. I edge my grass in my front yard. My yard is very small. I have to immediately place it back on the charger. I can then mow my yard but cannot use the blower just yet because it is still charging. So Im not too happy with it. They are both lightweight tools and when charged do work good but again, the battery doesn't stay charged long enough. I feel the tools are made cheaply. They could easily be broken if not stored. The weedeater also replenishes by itself so no need to "tap" it on the ground when more string is needed but I'm not sure how to replace it when needed. I wish atleast two batteries were supplied and I wish the charge would last longer. Otherwise, if you have a small yard these will do. But not a large yard. And I would not be able to complete my front and back yard on the same day because charging takes forever. I charged it the first time and it took over 4 hours to get a full charge. I used the blower once and then the battery had to be recharged again already.

I bought this product mostly to try the vacuum feature. I don't know what kind of leaves they used to make the 10 to 1 grind-ratio claim, but it's surely not Oak leaves.. from what I saw each time I emptied the bag, the leaves were mostly intact. After close to 45 minutes to set the machine up, fill and then empty the small vacuum bag 8 times, I had only filled 2, 30 gallon bags. The worst thing I noticed is that unless you are vacuuming soft leaves and not small branch pieces, mulch, or small stones, the plastic impeller takes a beating. I hope you are able to view the photo of the impeller that I'm including.. again, this is after filling only 2 bags.. On the positive side, the blower although very loud, works well. I'm glad Walmart has a good return policy, cause this purchase is going right back.

We live in windy area and I constantly am constantly trying to keep our patio clean, so I bought this blower-vac to both blow and suck up dust and those pesky bougainvillea petals. It does a good job and the impeller inside chops up those petals to a fine chop. It has helped me keep the patio clean...though it is a never-ending battle with the wind blowing. My only problem with the machine is the weight...I have a very bad shoulder and packing the blower-vac around really gets it hurting. But that could be a problem with any other blower-vac I bought, unless there is one that is a lot lighter.

I'm now working with my third (3rd) B&D blower\\vac\nTwo are not usable and this present one is just about\nto become inoperable, because the ballbearing's becme loose and fall out of the paper-thin retainer\nof the ballbearing's literally melts and fails to retain\nthe bearings in place, which effects the operation of\nthe unit.\nOther than that, the machine is everything B&D\nclaims it is and is more then satisfactory. Picks up\nleaves and pine needles where mowers and rakes\nwill not reach.\nI 'm thinking it can only be used continuously for\none ( 1 ) hour at a time otherwise the bearing's\nretainer will over heat and lose it's shape.\nI would still reccomend it, but cannot be run too\nlong continuously. Second unit do to handle failure on 1st after 6years, hard to keep vacuum switch engaged. Second unit was/is a "HOG" like the first... BUT THE REENGINEERED BAG is in a word GARBAGE compared to original cloth bag AND MUCH SMALLER.\r\nRepaired my old cloth bag at seam rip...PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD BAG!!\r\nSteel impeller is the way to go...chews up just obout everything.

I bought the power corded on the assumption that it would be more powerfull, I don't think I was wrong. It worked well picking leaves and the mulcher them into almost powder it also ground alot of the twigs. The bag can get fairly heavy when near fulled. I'm very happy with my purchase

Has a very unpleasant shrieking sound while operating. I was warned when I checked some of the 1, 2 and 3 star reviews before purchasing. Otherwise it works very well. I won't use the mulching attachment until next year. My previous B&D similar product lasted 10 years.

I really like the metal mulching "blade". I'm very happy with the power of the vac as it even picked up the fresh flowers from my oleander that my Toro used to spit back out and this saves me lots of time. It is good to be able to put the concentrater nozzle on or off the blower end without having to remove the entire tube. The black reusable bag is cheaper built than the canvas ones you used to get, but it was easy to empty; time will tell how long it lasts. Even the shoulder strap for the disposable bags is better than the one for the regular bag; it has a wider strap and a small shoulder pad. this thing sat outside frozen in a giant chunk of ice on and off again a million times the whole winter my dog beat it up and has done some serious damage to this thing and i am far from nice to things i dont leave feedback so this says a lot that no matter what stuff you drag it threw i used it last while it was thawing and water flying out of it dripping off of it but it kept sucking all the trash cotton pillow cases everything my dog has thrown in my yard this little train keeps sucking and blowing threw and curb side assistance lookout cause this is gonna take your job away frfr

The blower works great. The RPM are among the highest of the more inexpensive models. The others were not vac/mulcher either.\nThe vac works great but small sticks get inadvertantly sucked up & I'm worried it'll destory the fan blades of the mulch part. I saw no nicks on it though. One time it mulched fine & one time the leaves didn't seem so much, in all fairness, some leaves were a little damp & they were the small oak leaves, so not much to mulch.\nIt's electric, but I have only a small area around my coach & the deck & car area.\nI love & my daughter loves hers, too. This product is awsome...i got and used it the same day. For the size of my yard i have three mature trees in it and lots of fallen leafs every fall. I used to try and rake them and bag them what a waste of time. Now i just Blow them, Mulch them and burn them saves me alot of time. This product is very easy to transform from a blower to a vacum/mulcher. I would recommend this item to anyone who wants something for this purpuse but does not want to hassel with an exspensive gas model.

After checking what was available ,I determined what I wanted by what was offered. I then focused on price and found this machine to be the best value. I am very pleased with it.It is light and powerful. Though it is loud, but then most are. Also it was available for pickup right away at my local Wallmart store.I ordered on line and by the time I got to the store(about a mile away) it was ready. In and out! No time wasted!

I actually purchased it to clean up after edging the sidewalk. Works great for that and blows all of the excavated dirt across the yard where it doesn't show. Why sweep up good soil and trash it? It also works great for blowing off the deck, porch and the garage floor.\n\nI have had other inexpensive leaf blowers that weren't powerful enough to move anything. This one exceeded expectations.
