After Crutchfield got these to me in 2 days, I hooked them up right away and truly feel like I was hearing music how its supposed to sound for the first time in my life. Truly blown away by the sound stage, warmth, and power they have. I can't believe how much music "moves" and the small details I have never heard in my favorite songs. For anyone seeking a warm sound or have treble-sensitive ears, these are perfect. The highs are just high enough to be clear without getting to a harsh/shrill/tinny level. The lows are very present and powerful and I see no need for a subwoofer with them in my 12'x20' room. I'm running 2 amps and they're at about 25% volume before it would be too loud. Denon PMA-600NE and a Pioneer SX-990 ran into a 100w imported tube amp both sound amazing with these speakers. I'll name drop the type of music I like in case you're digging through reviews like I was, and hopefully it helps. Lofi hiphop (Madlib, Dilla, etc.) sounds perfect on these. Their drums are soft but punchy and these speakers were made for them. Harder rock music also sounds great. I instantly threw on records by Murder by Death and Mars Volta and got goosebumps with the dynamic, detailed sounds I was hearing. Albums I've listened to for almost 20 years and I was hearing them for the first time, seeing the dynamic sound stage. Finally, they are beautiful and made by true craftsmen. The real walnut veneer wraps the speakers and they both match perfectly. No regrets here!

I can, and do, listen to these ALL day. For my space (about 500 sqft) these feel right sized for the volumes we prefer. I like to pop, grunge (is that still a genre?), experimental, techno, synth, folk, and some hip-hop: Gunship to TSwift to Smashing Pumpkins, so far it has all sounded great. Sometimes the low freq response catches me, pleasantly, by surprise (e.g. Tycho's Glider, Aesop Rock's Mindful Solutionism (and the whole album really)). I fully admit their aesthetic was the initial drawn and is important to me, but these sound excellent. The red Mahogony almost matches perfectly w/ the Music Hall Classic turntable. Bought scratch/dent and no idea what the flaw is [Running through a Denon X1800].

Very agreeable sound, can listen to these all day with no fatigue. Lacking in top end resolving power, and sound stage and imaging are solid. Midrange is smooth, and I enjoyed listening to various genres with these speakers. Easy to setup, didn't require a lot of fussing around like my Focal Vestia No 1s.

I've been wanting the Denton 85 for a while now I'm not disappointed what so ever love the look and the the sound. The mids are excellent and the highs are perfect for me as for the bass they have enough but I have a sub and wow they sound huge. Love them!

Wonderful speakers beautiful to look at, with a warm rich sound and an outstanding mid range. Male and female voices and acoustic instruments are exceptionally good. Lows go plenty deep for me, no sub is needed. Highs are crystal clear and detailed. Imaging is spot on and soundstage is wide and tall. When set up correctly the speakers disappear into the soundstage. On certain recordings there is a 3D effect surrounding the listener. I replaced a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 225s and the Denton 85s are a major step up in all categories. I have them paired with a Cambridge Audio CXA81 and the CXN streamer and the sound that they produce is magical.

I am thoroughly amazed by these speakers. I decided to assemble a budget system for my office. I decided that the system would have medium budget bookshelf speaker as the foundation. I have always believed that speakers make the system. I cannot believe the frequency range on these speakers. I paid less for these speakers than I did for one ML Aerius i back in the year 2000. I am impressed by how speaker design has improved while allowing the consumer to get more value ( and fidelity). Kudos to Wharfedale!

So far, so good. Got these a few weeks ago and put them on 24" stands full of ball bearings toes in a bit and only about a foot from the wall. Feeding them with SVS Soundbase Pro. Good center image (Nora Jones - Little Room, Pet Sounds - Mono), and decent 'spacial separation' (Pink Floyd - Money, various orchestral works). Only use for music.I do hear what some say about the piercing high end and ear fatigue. There seems to be a noticeable difference between the good stuff from Apple Music versus Spotify, with Spotify being worse (makes sense). For me it is not a big issue because I listen mostly at low to moderate volume while working or reading. I did get a pair of Jamo 808 just to fill in the low end at very low volume. Dialed the crossover down to ~60Hz and set the volumes a little less than half. The room is open floor plan typical townhouse where kitchen, dining and living are all in one space. Sound fills it well, but really shines when sitting in the meticulously dialed in 'sweet spot'. I still need to make the room more sound friendly with art, panels, book cases, etc. But the speakers are great!

I replaced a pair of Wharfedale diamond 225s (moved to HT set up) I purchased these to go with my CXA81 (high current integrated) when I took my first listen I noticed the CXA81 became more powerful (4 ohm load from the Dentons) I was missing part of my mid freq range. These Dentons are very smooth yet dynamic. They go very low don't need a sub.but my sub gives more depth. For the price these are a must have! They nearly doubled my amps power. I really love that. I purchased many different speakers over the past 10 years but now I am Wharfedale for life! I purchase all my gear from Crutchfield ..very helpful and know their gear .if you are not sure ask them questions they will help match your gear to get the absolute best value for each dollar! The Denton 85's are really good speakers. They are very well built, look tremendous and sound as good as they look. I like the crossover network with the 85's it brings mids and highs alive. However, the bass is good but nothing to get super excited about. I would of preferred if Wharfedale would of used a paper cone woofer instead of the fiber cone they used. If you use a subwoofer during playback you shouldn't even notice the lack of bass. This is a speaker that I will enjoy for years.

Better & heavier than expected. Great finish, color, grill and binding posts. Full and neutral sounding on their own but when paired with two subwoofers they sound even bigger. Almost as big as the Linton by Wharfedale. Praise to Crutchfield, after a discussion with a representative about the speakers and my Cambridge CXA-81, I placed the order around 3:30 pm on a friday and listened to them Monday afternoon. Most deliveries from from Crutchfield have arrived early. Chris S.
