Home Again by Kristin Hannah This book is about Madelaine and now that she's grown up with a 16 year old daughter the time has come. The father had walked away from her and their baby but she survived with help from his religious brother, Francis. Angel is now on his deathbed because of his heart history and drinking, smoking, drugs, etc. Maddy is a transplant doctor-the top of the field and it's up to her to let him attempt to have a heart transplant. Her daughter wants to know who her father is...she starts acting out by stealing and getting caught from a local store. Many recipients are not good enough or a match til one day a priest is leaving a family session and he gets in trouble on the road... After the surgery she knows she will never tell him whose heart he has.. Maddie and her daughter Lina for Angelina must stay together and overcome the grief of losing Francis, Angel also. After his hospital release the women take him to a new place where nobody knows of him. Lina makes new friends and she tells them who her father is and they all think it's a joke. Maddie is faced with telling Angel the truth about the donor=before the press release the name he has to be told... Love how the story also follows Angel's story and everything he is faced with..

Madeleine Hilliard is a brilliant cardiologist and is a single parent to her daughter, Lina. They have managed thru the years thanks to the help of her best friend, Father Frances. The problem is Lina is at that stage where she is rebellious and although Madeleine tries to do everything in her power to give her a normal life it has been a struggle as she was sixteen when her now famous boyfriend walked away. All Lina wans is to know who her dad is. Father Francesca’s urged her not to tell Lina as he will only break her heart like he did to her mother. Angel DeMarco is a famous movie star who never looked back when he left Oregon. Now after suffering another serious heart attack doctors tell him his only change of living more then a few weeks is a heart transplant. Now Angel is going to return home and see Madeleine a cardiologist who specializes in heart transplants. He is reluctant but that is his only chance of survival. How will Madeleine react to his u expected return? Can she forget about the past. Tell him about Lina? This story is very emotional and will give the readers a chance to read what I think might be Ms. Hannah’s best book yet. A very moving and enjoyable story.

The events in this story were very emotional but the unfolding had so many snipets of the past when it was obvious what happened and I skimmed some. The characters had years of wrongs that I didn't believe were resolved in a few days. Movie star Angel has a heart attack and ends up in cardiologist Madelaine's hospital.

If you're new to Kristin Hannah's books, I can highly recommend them all - this one especially. Ms. Hannah's characters are wonderful - not the usual "perfect" romance characters, but have their flaws, problems and troubles - just like real people! I think this is one of my all time favorite books. The author writes with such feeling and depth that I felt as though I were there and living the characters. The characters were very human and had flaws, but in the end, it gave hope that people really can grow and change. It is a tear jerker, but had a wonderful, wonderful story. I had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. I highly recommend it.

I must admit I was not very impressed with Home Again. Kristin Hannah is the queen of real-life, emotional narratives and convincing characters, but she let me down with this story. For the first time ever I didn't need a single tissue. Lina, your typical troubled teen, struggles to discover where she fits while vying for the attention of her neurotic mom, Madeline. Madeline is a cardiologist who raised Lina on her own while putting herself through medical school. Being a single mother myself I found it difficult, if not impossible, to believe that anyone can "study and do homework for hours every night with a toddler on your knee", especially when you're talking med school. Fortunately this was not my first Kristin Hannah novel and I know she is capable of so much more.

Everytime I pick up one of her books, I am reminded why I enjoy them. Fantastic characters and storyline. I laugh and cry theou them.Home Again was no different! My heart ached reading about the mother/daughter struggles and the struggles of the heart.

I adore the Kristin Hannah books and this book did not let me down. I loved it although somewhat sad at times but such is life. I couldn't put it down.
