The Dirt Devil Scorpion Plus has the strongest suction by far of any handheld vacuum I have used. It is corded so perhaps that is the reason. However, I am very impressed with it. If loose grout or tile is near, it WILL remove it so beware of that. The Dirt Devil Scorpion Plus has a crevice tool located on the top of the vacuum. It flips down and locks into place. It is an incredibly handy tool. It reaches under furniture and appliances. There is another tool that plugs into the suction part of the vacuum. It is a miniature vacuum with a rotating brush. Perfect for rugs and furniture, the brush removes pet hair. I will say that the suction does NOT seem as powerful when this tool is in use. With this power, may come noise. It seems louder than uncorded handhelds. The cord is longer than most stick vacuums that I have used. However, if it is a large room, it is possible that two plug-ins may be needed to cover the area. It is very convenient having the cord versus charging a battery. Those vacuums are not as powerful and the battery life is limiting. That being said, I think there is a limit to how long this Dirt Devil can be used during each use due to overheating. It has an easy to empty, bagless canister. The filter is washable which helps with longevity. Hair does stick to the foam filter, and it needs to be manually removed. Overall, this has been one of the handiest tools I have ever had in my household.

I have a dog that sheds a lot. I live alone and she sleeps on the bed. This vacuum is great but the problem I have is the filter system. It has a paper cone filer which has a foam cover. After each time I use it I use my fingers and a old toothbrush to gently clean the filter, but the foam filter has 2 small tears. After I remove the hair I hand wash the filter then carefully it lay It on an old towel, fold the towel over & use a glass jar to press the excess water then let it air dry. My problem is I can't find a replacement filter in Dirt Devils web site. I will have to go back to Home Depot & see if they carry the foam filter, then with today being Saturday I will have to wait until Monday to call Dirt Devil Support.

I have been really impressed with the amount of power and suction in this little buster. The cord is really long, I haven't had any problems with it reaching or having to switch to a different plug to finish an area. I also really like the little green flip down for tight spaces, has a lot more suction than I expected. The only drawback of this machine is how much air it pushes out the sides (with intense force!) when it's going. It blows my curtains all over the place when I am vacuuming near them and even blew a spec of dust into my eye the first time I used it! Otherwise, this machine is great for picking up everything!

This hand vacuum is meant for efficient vacuuming of small areas, like chairs, sofa, workstation, etc. It's heavier than the hand vacuum I had for the car, but more portable/convenient than a regular upright/central vac. Those are better for cleaning larger areas. The quick-flip crevice tool is handy for vacuuming tight spaces. The vacuum has good suction power. It's also easy to empty out the dirt. But, you can't vacuum for a long time because it gradually heats up and also emits a smell similar to tires when it's on.

This handheld vacuum is as powerful as my stand-up full vacuum. It picks up cat hair easily, is very easy to handle, glides smoothly over carpet, and makes even the most minute dust particles disappear from furniture/stairs.\nThe only issue I have with it is that my extending hose was missing from the box, and Walmart doesn't provide a means by which I can contact the seller to request the missing part.\nAlthough I can use the vacuum devoid of the hose, I would still like to have all the parts that I paid for.

I was skeptical since it's fairly priced but WOW what a great little vacuum! I originally got it for picking up cat litter, which it does fairly well. But then I was disgusted by all the dirt %26 cat hair it cleaned off my furniture. I had been using my Dyson, but apparently it wasn't working as well as I thought. I gave four stars only because the attachment slips out easily while I'm vacuuming the furniture, but I still recommend it. The photo is from cleaning just the chair, which didn't even look dirty.

I've only used it a few times yet but so far works really well, quite powerful, and the flip nozzle is handy. I have a messy bird leaving crumbs everywhere and a rabbit to clean up after constantly, and needed something small to finish up after sweeping rather than pulling out a large vacuum all the time. I didn't want anything battery powered though so happy to be able to still find a small corded vacuum. Best price here after checking out other vendors.\nIt is A LOT louder than I expected though..

For the price, you cannot beat this power. 5 A at 120 V = 600 W. The cord is fairly long, long enough for me to easily clean the cab of my truck but some people may need an extension cord. Given that the more powerful of the battery-powered options are still underpowered, will cost you $100 , and last no more than 10-12 minutes this was an easy choice.\n\nThe main drawbacks are typical of the handheld vac class--small container size and a frequent need to clean the filter.

It's fine. There was a cover over the filter which I thought was supposed to stay on, but it's not present in the pictures, and, until I removed it, the suction was not very good. I took it off, and now the suction is great, but it's very difficult to get the dirt out of the filter when you empty the vacuum. Maybe the cover was supposed to stay on the filter for this reason? I wish I knew, but I threw the cover away.

I have had a cordless handheld vacuum for years but it died so I thought I would try this one and I'm happy I did. It's powerful and works great. It doesn't seem to be as well made as my other one the plastic isn't as sturdy and the attachments are cheaply made. I wish they would have included an extra filter, I'm having trouble finding them. All in all very powerful and I'm happy with it! Hope it holds up!

This hand vacuum is exactly what I was looking for, to vacuum my carpeted stairs. But the cord is way too short. I only cleaned about a third of the stairs before running out of cord. I added an extension cord. Still couldn't finish the job. In order to vacuum all the steps, it is necessary to use and extension cord, AND move the plug from the upstairs outlet to the downstairs outlet.

This small vacuum has good sucking power. The crevice tool flip design is flimsy because it does not lock in use and wobbles. A separate crevice tool that could be fitted to the nozzle would have been preferable. Also the flap gate inside the unit to stop dirt from falling out does not have any spring so it gets blocked open by bigger pieces causing dirt to fall out of the unit.

This is my third attempt at finding the perfect vacuum cleaner for my stairs (18 steps total). The crevice tool was missing and per booklet, there should be a hose for that tool. Not there!!! Takes a lot of elbow strength to run this vac back and forth. Old age catching with me!!! Bottom line: I will keep it simply because I refuse to return another one. Does the job.

I had an older model that we used only in the house.Decided to purchase another one for the vehicles.Pleased with the the amount of suction it has. But it has a very noticeable shorter cord that are old one.We are not pleased with the shorter cord not as user friendly.I bought a corded vac for that reason not to be cut short literally.

Used primarily for beautiful black-patterned carpeted staircase (have 2 long hair cats) to replace handheld Eureka vacuum with motrized brush which is no longer made. This one is close to the performance of it but has a little less suction power. Overall, it's the best of 3 handheld vacuums I've tried to replace the Eureka.

Use this to clean up scattered litter around the cat litter box. Has so much more power than the old one I was using. Haven't cleaned it out yet so can't judge the ease of doing that. The corded model is less convenient than the one without one but if it provides better suction that it's OK.

Product features and AC power make this unit actually perform the tasks it was meant to do. Good suction at the flip out nozzle doesn't miss much and the add on extension hose adapter gets into places the main unit can not go. Down graded one star because the unit exhaust gets hot.

I am super impressed with this little handheld vacuum! I logged on here to write the review and am actually amazed at the fact that it was under $30. I can't believe it! This is a well-built and great-quality item. I love how the spot-clean attachment nozzle is attached to the unit, it just folds out and clicks into place! The staircase attachment is awesome, also. It has a brush guard that you can slide up or down, and that allows you to not only vacuum the part of the stair your foot touches— but it also allows you to clean the vertical part of the stair that mostly gets forgotten about! I've tried nearly every hand vacuum on the market, and only one has enough power and suction to do every job, the Dirt Devil Scorpion. That expensive cordless one made by that British designer who popularized the bagless vacuum and cyclone technology can't hold a candle to the Scorpion. I bought one of those British ones six years ago, and it broke in five days. I returned it for another, and that one broke in five hours. That says a lot about the lack of quality. The Scorpion I had before this one lasted me 15 years without a single problem. It has a very long cord, several attachments, is dirt simple to clean (all puns intended), is handsome, and works nearly forever. What more could you possibly want?

I mean that in the most positive way. This little vacuum has powerful suction a cordless vacuum can't touch. For many years, I lugged my full size vacuum to the driveway to vacuum the cars and I was tired of it. I thought I'd try this corded handheld to take care of all the stuff your shoes track into the car. It worked great. It's lightweight and maneuverable. The easy on/off extension hose can double as a crevice tool and all the hard to reach places every car has. The big disadvantage to this handheld is the cord but that is also it's advantage. This thing has power precisely because it has a cord and, in my opinion, that suction is well worth being tethered by a cord.

As my teenage daughter is asked to straighten her bathroom after using, the Scorpion has been an asset. Every morning before school she vacuums the hair around the sink area and/or floor. We purchased a cordless vacuum, but the Scorpion, because it is corded, is MUCH MORE POWERFUL!!! It has made cleaning up much easier and more efficient. She no longer dreads vacuuming. When she is done her bathroom looks more inviting.\n\nI HIGHLY recommend the Scorpion!!! I needed something to vacuum pet hair off my couch. There are plenty of options out there but they are pretty pricey. when i saw this one for $33 I figured I'd give it a try. So far it seems to work well getting pet hair off my micro fabric couch. The major downside, though, is the cord is maybe ten feet long. If I plug it in right in the middle of my couch, it barely reaches both ends (it's a sectional). I'm better off plugging and unplugging halfway through, which is a bit of a pain. I was originally planning to use it for the stairs too, but that's going to be an issue with this cord length. But for the price I'm going to make it work for the couch.

I've owned several corded vacs and rechargeable hand vacuum cleaners. The rechargeables are convenient but they did not compare well with the corded vacs . Because my last one needed to be replaced I thought I probably might as well try another brand. The ratings for this red Dirt Devil were good enough for me so I bought it. Sure enough I'm contented/satisfied with its performance even if I've owned it just a week only. I'm a clean freak and this Devil gets used everyday. The most important feature, for me, of a handheld vac is its suction power. And it's name says it well--it can sure suck the devil! I will give another review or follow-up if warranted.

I have two cats, one of whom sheds quite a bit. I got this product this morning and have vacuumed up cat litter, did an air purifier filter, and two cat beds. I only stopped because I thought I should give it a rest. It light, but it is really powerful. I had ordered another hand vacuum and returned it almost immediately because it was so cheaply made and the directions were almost non-existent. The Dirt Devil is well made and a lot of thought was given to its design. Who would have thought of a flip out crevice tool. Genius! The directions are well-written and there are lots of graphics to explain everything. So glad I found this product.

I wanted to get this to do my stairs and was delighted at the power that it has. Has great suction. I did find it a little heavy to hold onto to do all 16 stairs but much better than using my other vacuum. The cord is also nice and long which I was kind of worried if I would have to unplug and plug in someplace else half way through. Lots of air comes out the back - you could almost use it as a blower I think if you needed to. The attachments are great but do wish the brush had a little bit stiffer bristles to get into my Berber carpet better but all in all I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a small hand held vacuum.
