Bought new this in a sealed manufacturers box at a great discount. I had been looking to upgrade my highly rated Audio Technica budget cartridge by fitting an expensive micro line stylus. Bought this instead. The Ortofon Blue has a nude diamond stylus. Set up was easy using a cheap cartridge protractor and a stylus tracking weight scale. Fitted to the straight carbon tonearm on my AT upper budget turntable the sound is wonderful. Bass is taut and high frequencies clear and sharp without being strident. My hi FI is a budget system using the excellent Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers. This is a cartridge that seems to fly under the radar of most reviewers, which is a shame because it is excellent. after reviewing other cartridges in magazines and online and looking to replace/upgrade my old cartridges ( over 35 years old!), this one fit the bill perfectly, sounds great on my technics turntable and was reasonably priced. Just a great high quality cost effective modern solution for older turntables as well.
I have many cartridges and these just sound great with loads of detail and plenty of punch too...
Easy to upgrade to the Blue stylus if you must.

Anyone reading this who is currently listening to LPs on a Pro-Ject Carbon TT with the Ortofon RED cartridge will want to upgrade to the Ortofon BLUE 2M cartridge. Immediately. No Delay.\n\nThe difference between the two cartridges is great enough so that there should be no hesitation in making the upgrade.\n\nThe most noticeable benefit (to me, anyway) is the fact that the BLUE cartridge has a much lower "noise floor" - i.e., the "surface noise" and pops and clicks that the RED cartridge reproduces are greatly decreased with this upgraded cartridge.\n\nJust do it. Your ears will thank you.

I've been an audio enthusiast since my early teens and I have never before heard ANY playback component give as much perfection and pure dynamic excellence than this cartridge,
For my money this is the single most important and perfect instrumentation that is such pure ear-candy to me.

There are a number of YouTube-videos of people, with too much money, who has bought the full range from Silver all the way up to Black, and compared them all to each other. And guess what? They all say this is the best one compared to cost. Several of them even say out right that this it is the best you can get. So i bought it. And i'm glad i did. Together with the Schiit Maani i have better audio with my records than via HD data stream. I was quite baffled at this, but hey, i'm not complaining.\n\nIf you are looking for a superior cartridge you have come to the end. Here it is.

Upgraded from a rega carbon on the planner 2, huge improvement in sound stage being wider, and placing of sounds, detail has greatly improved through all sounds. Looks very modern and 2M blue also fits on this cartridge. Just fitted the 2M Red to my SME 3009 tone arm. I have a Thorens TD 160b MkII turntable and all work well together. The cartridge was easy to install and the following setup was straight forward. Using on a Rega Planar 2 Turntable (replaced stock carbon cartridge also required a 2mm spacer on the tone arm as cartridge is a little higher than the stock). I was recommend to purchase the Blue instead of the red, I am glad I did! The low end is amazing on this, very clear and refined lows and high, not frizzy or thumps. Get it you won't be sorry! My only complaint is the stupid needle protector, if you are not careful you'll damage your needle. No need for screws, the cart is threaded which is a great thing, no messing around with screws!

I have gone the usual route with ortofon needles. Basic needles and cartridges, moving to the 2m red and now the blue. All the talk in my listening opinion is correct so far. The separation and overall better listening experience is here. I swapped out the cartridge and went straight to my faves, Pink Floyd, ELO and Metallica. It is an improved soundstage. Worth the money.

This cartridge has completely changed the way my records sound. It has taken the sound quality to a new high. I have coupled this with my ART DJ PRE 2 phono preamp, and wow! This cartridge has reduced the inner groove distortion that's inherited with this technology, and thus has reduced listening fatigue. It's not cheap, but it's not expensive either. Definitely recommend.

Fits great on my Denon DP-35f. The sound is very nice considering that I'm using an old Radio Shack phono pre-amp going directly through the input jacks on my computer. Recording and editing using Nero 8 Platinum software. I'm sure an upgrade to a different pre-amp would give this cartridge a chance to really breathe!! Tracking has been fantastic!!!

The installation/alignment setup took less than half the time it normally does with other 1/2 inch standard mount carts (using nuts & bolts). The elliptcal stylus fits perfectly into the cartridge body, is very well made and produces audio better than my other new cartridge (another manufacturer) which has a Microline stylus! A+++ product!

Upgraded from an Ortofon 2M Blue and was amazed at the difference in presence and clarity with the Bronze picking up info on the records that was never noticed before. It was the biggest single improvement made to my system in years and worth every penny. Enjoying LPs like never before.

I have recently installed an Ortofone red cartridge in a Linn Sondek turntable system. Previously I had an Ortofone turbo m/c cartridge. This one in my opinion is better. There are certain records that had parts of distortion which have now gone! I can recommend this pickup.

I find this to be a satisfying cartridge with a good balance. I prefer it to my ortofon vms20e which is already pretty good. Seems a bit more focused, but maybe the vms is past it's best. \nNice to be able to upgrade to the blue stylus,but I've not tried that.

I finally upgraded from my Grado Prestige Blue1 -- what a difference! Even after just a few hours of break-in, the 2M Blue is revealing so much more detail and depth than my old Grado. It's like rediscovering my collection all over again.
