I think the best way to review this new Shark cordless vac is by stating what it is, and what it does well, and what it’s not. It has Shark’s typical excellent build quality and ease of use. It's well enough packaged to survive even rough shipping, and it’s simple to assemble. Snap-in the wand and connect the beater head for upright use, or just snap on an attachment for handheld use. All the parts snap in place with locking connectors, so pieces aren’t going to fall off. The only other part is the charger since the battery is built-in. It’s also amazingly light and easy to use. With the beater head, there are two settings on the power switch … bare floors and carpet. The only other control is the “turbo” trigger for increased power (and short battery life). The low profile head is good for getting under furniture and low items. It’s also bagless and easy to empty, but do that over a large wastebasket or such to control dust and spill. As a handheld, without the long upright tube, it’s exceptionally light and easy to use. I found this great for stairs, and it would be pretty decent as a car vac. As with all Shark vacuums, it has LED headlights on the beater assembly which are actually a great help in cleaning. What it’s not, in my opinion, is a whole-house upright vacuum. The run time is listed as up to 40 minutes, but that’s without the powered beater head. Battery time drops to 20 minutes in that mode, and down to 10 minutes with the turbo switch activated. The battery is built-in, so there’s no swapping in another if you run out of juice. There’s just the slow, plug-in charger and a few hours wait time. It doesn’t have Shark’s excellent no hair clogging head, and it just doesn’t have the power and suction of a corded upright. A strange omission in my mind is that there is no way or provision to hang it up for storage and charging. It cannot stand upright on its own, but it can be leaned against a wall. With that said, keep in mind that it’s about half the price of that famous English brand. In conclusion, it’s a quick, easy and very lightweight stand up vacuum for spot jobs, and for those in-between times when you don’t want to haul out the big, corded vac. It would be easy for kids to operate to clean up spills and such. Being very lightweight also makes it a great hand vac for cars, stairs and such. If you live in a small house or apartment, it could be the only vacuum you need.

I got this vacuum as a Christmas gift. It was to replace my well used Swedish vacuum that was falling apart well before its time. I thought I'd see if the Shark was sturdier. \nThis vacuum had good reviews so I was excited to try it. \nIt was awkward to assemble the base because there really aren't any instructions. I had to look up multiple pictures people had posted online to find out where to put the attachment holders. And where they go is very odd and in the way. It makes the footprint of the base much larger than it needs to be. And because the one mount for the tool that hooks under the side of the base doesn't attach to the base, any time you want to move the base, that mount comes off and you have to pick it up and put it back together. \nThe vacuum mounts on a stand on the base where it sort of hangs. The base is plugged in so you have to keep it where you have power. This charges the battery. But when you mount it on the base, it does this suction thing where it sucks the debris out of the canister and into a holder on the base. There is a scent disk, which is pricey to replace, to keep odors from vacuumed up debris down. It actually works well. I have it in my closet and it doesn't smell after a month. I'm kind of scared to open it.\nThere is a section of the debris holder on the vacuum that has a lot of debris stuck in it. I've tried cleaning it out but it keeps getting stuff stuck in there. \nSuction wise, the vacuum picks up pretty well. It definitely is a vacuum for hard surfaces. It has a double roller system which helps to keep the sandy dirt my dogs track in from flinging back out. There are lights to light the area you are vacuuming so you can see what needs to be picked up. There is a second set of lights on the back that come on when the vacuum switches to higher power. \nIt does have a really great edge suction. \nIt is difficult to get under low furniture. You have to release the mechanism on the stick and bend way down. The head is large and flat and does not swivel so it is not very flexible and it is difficult to get into tight spaces. My Swedish vacuum has it beat hands down on flexibility and maneuverability. \nThe marketing states that the battery time is 70 minutes. However, the fine print will tell you that that is when you are using just the head with one of the non powered attachments. I have an 1800 sq ft house and I struggle to vacuum the master bath, master bedroom, dining room and maybe part of the kitchen before it quits. That means the living room, 3 bedrooms and entryway didn't get vacuumed.\nAfter using a few times, I noticed some dog hairs poking out from the underside in the front. I went to clean them out and found that the front roller was encased in a half moon tube of dog hair. This is interesting since the vacuum is supposed to be tangle free and has combs in that area to prevent this. I have short haired hound dogs.\nAlso, the debris canister has fallen off several times despite being put on securely and not knocked off. \nIt is difficult to get the vacuum to stand when you need to stop using it for a moment. It is also heavy.\nAll in all, I was not impressed and will be returning my gift to the store.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried out this Shark Cordless Pet Vacuum in exchange for my honest review and there are several things I really like about it.\nAs someone with a lot of back pain, bending over repeatedly while vacuuming to adjust the settings for different floor types can be hard. One thing I liked immediately about this vacuum was when I noticed that it auto detects the floor type and adjusts the suction to match. And that means no more repeated bending when I move from laminate to heavy carpet! The handheld functionality is very nice as well. I like that I can now get high corner cobwebs or dust in low corners without lugging a huge and heavy vacuum all around the house. Additional bonus: the slender and compact design also makes storage much easier than my traditional vacuum.\nThat said, there’s a couple things I would love to see improved in future iterations as well. The battery lasts about 30-45mins of continuous use. That works well for single vacuum sessions, but as someone who vacuums almost daily in multiple rooms, it would be nice to see a battery that can last 3-5 sessions or approx 3 hours so that I don’t have to charge it as often. I also noticed the vacuum is pretty loud when the “heavy suction” strength is activated. It’s not a problem for me as an individual, but I do wonder if the downstairs neighbors think I’m running a rug cleaner sometimes and my pups are not vacuum fans so quieter machines are always preferred if possible.\nOverall, I really like this vacuum and have been relieved to have a more lightweight machine with handheld capabilities. I think the next major improvement I would love to see is just a longer battery life and quieter machine if another version is rolled out in the future.

The pros of this vacuum:\r\nMotor comes off to sweep stairs, with the push of a button to use one of the attachments. One attachment is a straight edge for getting up against the walls and tight spots you can't get with the base. \r\nIt comes with a straight edge attachment and a brush attachments for cleaning furniture. \r\nIt's compact and easy to store and charge the motor when not in use.\r\nIt has 2 settings, run with roller on rugs and for hard surfaces. \r\nRoller shuts off when it gets something stuck in it so it doesn't burn the belt and roller won't turn on unless the handle is bent down.\r\nComes apart to find clogs and easy cleaning.\r\nHas 3 big screws to remove roller cover to clean the roller or replace the belt.\r\n3 lights to show the charge level.\r\nHas a pull button for higher suction power when needed. I use it to get all of the pet hair swept up.\r\nHas cleanable filters to keep the dust and allergens down. \r\nLays almost flat to get under furniture and tables. \r\n\r\n\r\nAt first, the suction was great and picked everything up. Now it doesn't have the power to get everything sucked up in one path. It does the job but takes a little longer. Still quicker than standing vacuum cleaners.\r\nMotor is getting noisy.\r\nThere is no where to store the attachments on the vacuum. \r\nAll in all, this is a good vacuum that I would recommend. It outperforms stand up vacuums. I've already trashed my old stand up vacuum. It gets the job done easier and it gets all the pet hair off the rugs and furniture. I am completely satisfied with this vacuum cleaner and plan to use it for a few years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Shark Cordless Pet Vacuum is handy to have on hand for quick and simple clean up jobs. I found that it can clean my floors of most particles and pet hair but there were times that it just wouldn't get all the hair even on the boost mode when using it on carpet. I tested it out in my car as a handheld and had to use the boost mode most of the time to actually get it to such everything up. In my opinion I felt that it lacked the power on regular mode to really get the floors clean. The battery seems to stay charged for a decent amount of time, I believe around 40 minutes is what the box advertised and that feels about right for the run time that I got out of it before I had to charge it again. Storing the vacuum is very easy and convenient. You just detach the handheld vacuum from the straight wand and then reattach the handheld down at the base of the straight wand via a clip on the back. It takes up very little space when storing or charging. Emptying the dust cup is very easy and just one button. I also found that the vacuum loves to go forward but gives resistance when trying to back up. It's a nice, light cleaning vacuum for small areas and small jobs.

You can feel the power that this has as the vacum head seizes down and pulls against the carpeting.\nBut, from the beginning with the assembly, this was so simple to snap together. And the clips that attach the pieces are large and don't require too much pressure to work. The handle is a perfect size to make gripping very comfortable. The head on this swivels which makes getting around furniture, edges, and corners much easier. As well it being low profile, it goes under many things that large head vacuums definitely will not. I love that I don't have to adjust the head for the surface I'm cleaning. You can actually tell it's self adjusting when you move to a different height or pile of carpeting. The normal power mode on this works very well getting almost everything swept up in one pass. I do use the boost mode on areas where we have obvious heavier dirt or the usually chips crumbs. This mode is incredibly strong and gets pretty much everything in one pass! The handheld vacuum is convenient with his attachments, and it not heavy to carry around for multiple areas of use. The bristles attachment is fantastic for removing stubborn pet hair off my furniture. I couldn't believe how much was in the dust cup when I finished my cats favorite chair. It looks so clean now! \nI was truly shocked at the amount in the dust cup the first time I vacuumed frankly. The cup was full within a small area, which made me wonder if that was left behind from before using this Shark vacuum. The cup is simple to open for emptying with the slide of a release lever.\nThe only improvement I would make here has nothing to do with the performance or design of the vacuum. It would be to add some more details to the charging instructions. It does show how and where to plug it in. But, no details about the blinking lights when it changes or otherwise. The charge lasts longer when the boost most is used less, but it stay charged more than long enough to vacuum multiple rooms.\nI love this and have to say it's definitely the best vacuum I've owned to date! I would 100% recommend this!

There are a lot of reasons to love this cordless vacuum along with several reasons to question. \r\nMy loves...it's suction is excellent. As long as you are using this on newer carpet or short pile/hardwood and tile you will love! I have older pile carpet and immediately noticed the difference in suction on the worn carpet versus the higher pile areas that are not as used. It performs a lot better on newer carpet.\r\nHardwoods are a breeze. Easily cleans hardwood and tile without "throwing " the \r\nparticles.\r\nManeuverability is second to none I have used. The slim width and ability to rotate the head of the unit is simply awesome. I can reach and maneuver areas impossible with a traditional sized vacuum. This is sinply my favorite attribute. Low profile head height enables getting under dressers and beds! I can reach areas I simply coukd not with a traditional vacuum. \r\nWeight? Not my favorite as it's obviously top heavy. Don't expect to stop and prop. The unit will tip over. The unit is equipped at the top with the main collection unit. It is definitely heavy and will fall over. However it will make you question your cleaning as the collection cup is always full of dust/debris.\r\nSuction is awesome on hardwood and tile. Carpet will depend on age of pile length. \r\nHow long will the battery last? Well it obviously depends on the speed at which you are vacuuming but I find I can clean my entire home in 40 minutes. The 3 lights will i indicate the remaining battery life. I love the cordless feature and the ability to move from one room/hallway to the next.\r\nOk, my number one caveat to a 5 star rating. Why is the highest suction power inable to lock in? There is a "booster trigger" that increases the power/suction. I use it the entire time. Think filling your gas tank without lock on feature. My thumb is done by the time I'm done vacuuming. There should be a "high" feature that doesn't need the depression of a trigger.\r\nOverall I still love this vac.

The cordless design allows me to quickly clean up pet hair, dust, and debris without having to deal with a cord or drag out a larger vacuum.\n\nThe LED headlights are a nice feature and help spot dirt under furniture and in darker areas. I also love the removable handheld vacuum and crevice tool for cleaning stairs, furniture, and hard-to-reach places. The XL dust cup holds more than I expected and is easy to empty.\n\nThe only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the battery life could be a little longer when cleaning larger areas. However, the suction is strong, it picks up pet hair very well, and it's become my go-to vacuum for everyday use. I would definitely recommend it to other pet owners.

Bought this cause i needed something that would pick up dirt and dog hair from my hard wood floors. I have 4 German shepherds and they shed A LOT! Sweeping 4 times a day just was not working for me. The only reason i did not give it 5 stars is that the battery does not last as long as i would like. It says 40 min, but its more like 25-30 min. Also the bagless canister does not hold very much. I have to empty it 3-4 times per time i use it, in the defenseof the product, i have German shepherds. Those were the cons, now for the pros... it picks up hair and dirt great. Has great suction. I love the swivel head and how easy it converts to a hand held. The attachments are easy to put on and off. Would i recommend this, yes, yes, yes! It is saving the back aches from sweeping.

I have three large dogs that shed a lot, and this vacuum takes care of all the unwanted hair scattered throughout the house. Some of my favorite features of this vacuum are that it is lightweight, easy to maneuver, easy to charge, and effectively picks up most of the dog hair. I even use it to vacuum out my truck!\nMy one complaint is that I wish the suction were a little stronger. However, it still picks up 95% of the dog hair on rugs and 100% on hardwood floors.

Great, with a few learning curves. Changing the vacuum power settings wasn\u2019t immediately obvious, and it won\u2019t charge without the power head attached which I don\u2019t love, but can work with. So far it\u2019s tackled everything I need it to, and with two major shed dogs, and a minor shed dog, the dock hasn\u2019t needed emptying yet after almost a month. So it\u2019s working out fairly well!

I upgraded from another Clean and Empty shark to this. This is so much better. The suction is wonderful and cleaned up my carpet and rugs that I had just cleaned with my other shark. I love the power detect system and the clean and empty because I hate cleaning the canisters. I also love that it goes in reverse as well . I'm glad I got this instead of other brands.

I like this little vaccume. It's light weight. Maneuvers well. The price was decent. \nDislikes would be the storage of vacuum. \nI wish there was a stand for it... I don't like that i have to lay it down when vacuuming if i need to move something. I didn't like that you have to separate the canister from the base for storage.\nI can always use more power.

Very good suction and convenience with the LED light. This vacuum has picked up dust in the apartment previously unknown to (this) man. It’s quite very light with good battery life. It’s nice that the motor/handle can be detached and stored on the main attachment. Just wish it came with something that also clipped the other accessory heads onto that as well.

I bought this yesterday and it works well. I like everything about it but the battery life is incredibly short. My house is about 2700 square feet and it is going to take me 4 charges (5 hours a charge) to get the whole thing done. It would be fine to do a zone each day, but I prefer cleaning all in one day.

cordless is nice and the filter is great. the size is perfect. the section is satisfactory and picks up pet hair well. it seems to work better on carpet than tile. the release mechanism is a little clunky and the brush roll can not be fully removed. but overall a great vacuum for my little house.

I love this vacuum anad it compares to the dyson vacuum for sure but it did start malfunctioning after about 6 mos and lost suction. I will be contacting shark/wayfair to see about how replacement works because otherwise this is a GREAT vacuum if you have a pet.

Wish it was more powerful when its on the floor. It doesn’t always pick stuff up. I usually have to hold the button for it to get stuff and that doesn’t always work because the vacuum is close to the floor, so items like cereal will have to be swept up

Having used my Shark for about 10 months now, I have opinions. I’m going to start with the good. I absolutely love the bin emptying process. It is the easiest I have ever experienced with any vacuum in my life. 5 stars for that. I oddly love the headlight. So weird. I never would have thought I would need that, but I love it. It is lightweight…almost too lightweight sometimes if that could be a thing. It almost seems like sometimes I’m lifting it off the floor when I shouldn’t be. \n\nNow for the things I don’t love. The suction is not as great as I had hoped it would be. It is not sucking up kitty litter from a tile floor which I would think would be one of the easiest things in the world to do. It does not suck dirt from the sides as it claims to do. I have made sure there are no clogs. If I use it for more than 20 minutes, it seems to overheat and die. Sometimes a quick reset on the base fixes it, other times I just have to give up. \n\nOverall, I would not purchase again, nor would I recommend it to a friend. I would give it 4 stars, but considering how expensive it is, I give it 3. I always go back to my first Shark navigator to compare my other Shark vacuums, and as much as I llove the cordless feature, I’m not sure it’s worth the price.
