I'm holding back a couple stars, and I'll explain why. My wife and I picked this up from HD and had an employee help us lift it into the truck vertically. I know not to lay a refrigerator over if you plan to use it soon. So we were deliberately careful, and strapped it safely in that vertical position against my truck bed tool box. We hauled it to our place and removed carefully, and found the unit in perfect condition with great packaging. There were no dents, dings or any marks on the (fake) stainless finish. All good. \n\nSo we moved it into is new home, powered it on and let it do its thing. I also have always kept a pair of remote temp sensors in my old fridge/ freezer, so I installed those into this unit. Upon initial start up, we used the freezer dial at the mid point setting, and the fridge digital pad at level 3 of 5. The freezer got cold pretty quickly, like in a couple hours it was getting ice crystals on the walls. The fridge section was proving to be very slow to cool down. I even ran out to my shed fridge and grabbed a bunch of bottled water and beer to put in, in an attempt to help the unit. A day later it seemed to struggle to get under the mud 40's in the fridge, while the freezer easily hit sub zero tennis that first night. Hmm. Odd. So, I knocked the control to level 4 inside the fridge and gave it another day. Now we were hanging around 40 -42 degrees, still no good per the CDC for food storage. CDC recommends 38 degrees at the highest, 35 would sure feel more safe. So we left for a week and came back to no changes. I bumped it to the maximum cooling #5 setting that next weekend, I have floated 38-39 degrees per my digital sensors i have installed. Drinking bottled water out of it, it's not that crisp cold you expect, rather it's.... cool. I'm leaning on it as hard as I can with cooling level 5 and really seeing the highest edge of what's considered safe for human food storage. I'm not overly impressed with that, I would expect the digital adjustments to allow me to get to the edge of freezing and find a comfortable setting around 34-36 degrees. I'm not sure how to handle this issue, but... I did pay HD $139 for the add on 5 year All State warranty. \n\nThe looks, and the layout of the unit are great. The 2 crisper drawers have simple to use slide bars to adjust humidity, the glass shelving is easy to clean, easy to see through and let's the LED lighting really get to all areas. The size is perfect for our needs, and in sale for just under $600 makes it a great bargain. Assuming it can keep food cool enough to not kill us. The shelving is also adjustable for height in the fridge, so it's design allows you some flexibility. \n\nSo while we love the stainless look, the size, the value and the ability to modify the shelving positions, there is animosity over is lack of cooling ability even in this fall weather. What will it be like in 95 degree summer weather?
