This is a hefty SACD player that plays discs without drama. It seems to be constructed with very high quality build based on the sheer weight. It is essentially silent. The musical output from its internal DAC sounds great, and I prefer the fixed aux output over using the digital signal directly.I found the network functionality redundant for my needs, which consists of the KEF LS60 speaker system, so I do not use it. Without networking needs, one could consider instead the Marantz CD60 since it does not have networking and is less expensive. However, I read a professional review concluding the CD playing quality to be better with the 30n so I never tried the CD60.

This turned out to be the worst electronics purchase I've ever made. First of all it doesn't sound better than any number of CD transports and DAC's you could buy for a fraction of the price. That really is the truth and I should have returned it for that reason. I was going through some interesting stuff at the time and felt like buying something extravagant I suppose. Then within the first year I started to notice some problems with the USB DAC like little clicks and stuttering here and there. I don't use it very often so I have been living with it I guess. I did contact Marantz about this issue but they offered very little help. Does it need service? Is it just a bug etc, etc? Now recently I found a great deal on the Model 30 amp and I was curious to see how the matching pair would sound so I bought it. The amp is not great to be honest. Overly granular treble, analytical and just plain dull. It sounds downright unnatural at times. I have an NAD C388 as my current amp. It drives my 6 ohm speakers much better and the NAD just sounds better in general. Then just two days after I bought the Model 30 amp the SACD30n started randomly jumping to a different track during playback both with CD's and SACD's. So I contacted Marantz and they were of no help at all even when they know that I just bought the amp and the SACD30N is just past the warranty period. Actually, they did give me permission to take my property to any electronics shop of my choice at my expense because the unit is out of warranty. To make a long story short the amp went back already and I will see what happens with the repair on the SACD30N. It will be fixed and sold or sold for parts/repair. It's time for me to move on to something else and I will personally never purchase another Marantz or Denon product. I can't stand the SACD30N and I hate the barely functional HEOS app as well. I honestly can't wait to delete it from my phone and be done with this thing.

I realize that the main function of this Marantz is as an SACD player, but I don't own SACDs so I spent a lot of time using it as regular CD player and music streamer. I streamed music using WiFi, Bluetooth, the built in Heos technology after I downloaded the app on my phone and iPad, and also used Apple Airplay just depending on which service I wanted to listen to such as Qobuz, Pandora, TuneIn. I happened to also have a Marantz home theater receiver, so the sound was fantastic. Using this player also prompted me to upgrade my speakers and speaker cables, and just listen to more music instead of always turning on the TV.

Bought this to replace my 8-year-old Rega Apollo CD player and the outboard Rega DAC. Both seemed to sound tired. After about a month of daily use, the Marantz SACD 30n is an amazing component. Build quality is first-rate. Bought for the single play CD capability and also have my 1993 Marantz CC65SE Carousel CD player connected to the 30n's DAC via the carousel's digital out. Can spin shiny discs all day on random play or listen to a single disc. Both options result in clear, beautiful music. Someone said in another review that the experience with moving to the 30n is like getting a new pair of glasses. You saw things before but now you see things (hear things) more clearly. Amazing. I have found a few internet radio stations that also sound amazing. Adagio classical radio in particular. I have not heard classical sound good on my system. The only nit to the 30n the remote control. It has serious heft to it and a quality feel, but you cannot easily read the tiny gold type against the black background and the buttons are recessed. If you're looking for a new CD player you will not regret this purchase.

it has a very quiet background , good scale & easy to listen for long . Has good choice of 2 filter ,one for little airy for instrumental music , other for a little close focus singer .The internal DAC does a fair job but my separate tube DAC which is just a little more alive in harmonic decay(perhaps little more distortion),little more resolving .Variable output is great directly connected to power amp opens up little more space.(the default remote setting is for amp use which cannot control vol.digitally . u Need to switch the remote to CD /SACD remote setting (press Enter +2 ).\nhas not try USB but the bluetooth 5.0 connection has much a lag (disappointment )don't match the lip sing on my SAm phone Fold2 .\nSound is subpar till I can get some equalizing from the app Will try headphone amp later. My Marantz SACD 30n was delivered a couple of weeks ago. The first thing I noticed was how solidly and beautifully it is constructed and how perfectly it matches the Model 30 integrated amplifier. As for the sound, SACDs and well-recorded CDs sound terrific: neutral, open, crystal clear, and highly enjoyable (with warmth that the 6007 unfortunately lacks). Credit for the spectacular sound also has to go to the Model 30 amp and the very impressive Monitor Audio Silver 500 7G speakers. I highly recommend the SACD 30n to anyone who can afford its lofty price. My only disappointment is that it doesn't play CD-R discs: It plays the first few tracks and then goes silent. These same discs play with no issues in my brand new 6007 and 12-year-old 5003. I also want to give a shout-out to Olsen's Hi Fi in Lynnwood, Wash., for carrying excellent brands like Marantz, Monitor Audio, and Prima Luna. The staff is knowledgeable and very accommodating. Excellent player. Replacing a Sony xa777es. I feel the marantz betters the Sony with a stronger musicality, more engaging, with slightly more detail. It sounds great with a amazon music subscription utilizing the heos app. The heos app is a little clumsy, but more than makes up for with sound quality. Highly recommended. Makes my kanta 3s sing! The only improvement IMO would have been to include balanced xlr outputs.

This is an amazing disc player. In my system it elevates most CDs to near SACD quality, and SACDs are magnificent. This replaced a Marantz SA8005 in the system, and it's an easily heard improvement. They both share the company's warm sound signature, but this restores detail I felt the older model masked. The best way I can describe the 30n's sound is smooth, organic, warmly enveloping without feeling like highs were rolled off. If you're looking for a hyper-detailed clinical presentation, you'll be disappointed. If you're after music, you'll love it.And to the reviewer who said it doesn't display disc info, that depends on the disc. I have SACDs that display artist name, album name and track name. Standard Redbook CDs may not.The 4 stars are the result of the hobbling of DSD data, forcing you to use the machine's DAC for SACD playback. Digital out only works for CDs and the Redbook layer of hybrid discs. This isn't anything new, but prospective purchasers should know about it.

i bought this 2 mounts ago have tried to use 3 different mac devices to play hires lossless audio. with the usb b connection. it works for 3 sek then stop. i can use airplay to play lossy music but wit the usb it stop every time.is there a problem with the marantz. all the devices a mac book pro + 2 different iPads.are all updated to new software.

This is a well-built classy product. On certain CD's that I have, I experience unbelievable transient response. Of course, your speakers and amp have to be up to the task. I have yet to hear a nasty sound from this product. There is dead silence in the background. The opening and closing of the cd tray is very quiet. I am very happy with the purchase.

This is a audiophile grade, industry leading disk player/SACD/network streamer that is competitive with players triple it's price. Everything, including basic CDs and even *low bitrate* streams and files sound better than ever before. We've connected our SACD 30n to the paired marantz series 30 hfi amp and the result is mesmerizing, beautiful audio playback from any source. This is what they call a very "musical" device! The only criticism we have right now is the lack of MQA. However Marantz confirms they are working on adding it.

Pluses: excellent aesthetics, apparent quality in manufacture, and critically, impressively clean CD outputs to amp and headphones, my primary reasons for an expensive purchase. Negatives: narrow angle of usefulness for both the minimal display and outdated remote. Crude operations for data entry through the latter are made worse by errors in the badly written and/or translated manual. Thank you to Crutchfield's excellent tech assistance even to get my network connected. Marantz should create a phone App for more convenient display of play status and function control.

I've had this unit for about 3 months now. It is an incredible unit that does so much with digital music sources, both local, networked and in cloud based. Music sources, both PCM and DSD in a USB / NAS, wi-fi streaming (casting), bluetooth as well as CD and SACD's. UPnP / DLNA protocols are also supported . In short, it is a Swiss Army Knife of all things Digital Audio. HEOS, the app, can be improved though as its search functions is so weak. This is one of the few devices that support Amazon Music HD natively, within the HEOS app so with an Amazon Music HD subscription, you can get the highest resolution music available from Amazon Music HD.

Between HEOS and the ability to play CDs, it's a wonderful source of music.

This player supports everything I need (and even more) - it plays music from the NAS, USB, CD/SACD, Tidal, Spotify etc.The sound is crystal clear and way better than my old player with Schiit Modi 3 DAC. The MMM DAC is very unique it works perfect but some audio players (like Linux-based Daphile) don't allow to use the direct DSD playback, but this is a problem of Linux drivers, there is no problem like this in Windows.I like how HEOS works. It is very convenient with one drawback - it does not allow to set up a sort order of music in the directory (uses alphabetical order).

This SACD & DAC is phenomenol. I was able to stream all my master recordings from Tidal to the Marantz in the Heos app. Setup was fairly simple as well I wanted to take advantage of the DAC in so ran the cabled from the fixed analog out and I was hearing instruments i hadnt heard in some these classic tracks. Only downside was I was not a fan of the HEOS app it was very clunky and constantly crashed on my iphone

I've just bought 30n but it is so frustrating that I can't find where I can download the USB dac driver! Please help!

I love this CD player I bought twice within 1 year.

I would say it is a great unit, but I do have difficulty to find where to download the USB DAC driver. Based on the manuel, there should be a download button on the website but I can't find it. I also see other people can't find it either. I hope Marantz can fix it soon.

I bought this to replace a temperamental Esoteric SA-10 that had many drawer issues although is sounded great. When it started not reading regular discs I had enough. I love this Marantz. The sound is beautiful; the internet radio is great. Best decision I ever made. The only minus is that the stylish remote is a little hard to read but I'll get used to it. Buy it. You'll love it

This was my choice of player for my first in-home experience with SACD, and it sounded amazing. It's really solidly built, and I love that it incorporates high-res streaming options. It acts as a kind of do-it-all digital source.

This is an excellent piece of equipment. It plays audio dvds and that is hard to find on a high end player. It also plays hd radio and the sound you get is top shelf. Very pleased with my purchase.
