Once assembled, it's a good piece of furniture. During assembly, I had to chisel out some wood in 2 spots so the bolts could reach the receiving threads. They were inset too far. It does have a strong odor from the stain or varnish. It will take some time for that to dissipate. I'm hesitant to put blankets/pillows in it, as I don't want them to smell. I would put baking soda in it, but our kids (8,5,2) like to play in/on the coffee table & I don't want baking soda everywhere.\nThose things aside, it will serve it's purpose eventually & it looks nice. The lids are slow closing & have to be pushed shut, so fingers are safe. It is larger than I expected now that it's in the room, so be sure to measure your space. I couldn't find any similar pieces online, so if I had to, I would buy it again.
