WOW! Wish I'd bought this a long time ago--but live and learn. I'm 72, so not a whiz at electronics/audio set-ups, but I figured it out. Now, I'm sitting here listening to CDs I haven't heard in YEARS. It's great, and allowed me to finally dump my old stereo component system that took up way too much space and really just gathered dust. The sound from this CD player is stellar--I couldn't ask for better. Set-up was relatively easy once I decided to just get rid of the old stereo and connect the player to some new speakers. Until I did that, my eyes were crossing trying to figure out how to make the CD player work with that old system. Took quite a bit of research to conclude it was just much simpler to go ahead and update instead of trying to make vintage components work with new ones. Operation of the player is very simple. I've operated a multi disc player before, so it was easy to get right back into it. Even if you're new at it, you'll be using it like a pro in no time! Buy this player. You won't be sorry, and these multi-disc players are getting harder and harder to come by!--Especially ones like this offering options like random play between so many different discs.

I've now purchased 2 of these Onkyo CD changers. It's getting harder to find a good CD player for a reasonable price. I'm not a streamer of music, and I've got an extensive cache of CDs collected over the last 3 decades. I've got to say up front that this Onkyo player really works well and plays all my CDs beautifully. But I also have to say that the user interface with this machine isn't nearly as advanced as the Sony CD carousels I grew up with. You don't get much information on the display, other than disc number, track, and time. You don't know how many tracks have already been played on the current disc when in shuffle mode like you do with the old Sonys. And you can't choose to shuffle just one disc; it automatically shuffles all discs that are plugged into the tray. And the button to change the time mode on the display from elapsed to remaining isn't on the remote. But aside from those few minor quibbles, this CD player rocks the house.

<p>I have had the Onkyo DX-C390 2 channel 6-disc CD player for a few weeks now and I am very happy with it. It does what I want with my rather large collection of CDs so there are no complaints at all. I am old school and CDs work just fine for me. I play drums for fun and relaxation so when I play along with the music I am in my happy place.<\/p><p><br><\/p><p>I am most happy that I stumbled on to the Sweetwater site because they are first class when it comes to customer service (I said I was old school). I bought a new bass drum head from Sweetwater and you would have thought I spent a very large sum of money with the customer service I received, ($). Their follow up on the drum head was why I turned to them when buying the CD player.<\/p>

The 6-CD changer by Onyx is working flawlessly. I love the multi-function remote and the sound is decent. This replaces my 5-CD changer by Technics which lasted over 40 years. By necessity, this changer is very large. It is so deep it may not work on some shelves, so closely check its dimensions for your situation. I had to drill several extra holes in the back of my cabinet so the player would not stick out in the front so much. The only other thing I did not care for is the song shuffle capability. It works, but the front panel flashes too much information as it randomly selects the next track. It takes too long for each random shuffle and is very distracting if you are watching it.

When figuring the required depth of cabinet, take into account the added length of the analog connections. I had to cut an oblong hole through back plate of cabinet. The very back of the analog connections and wires protrude through. No big problem since it's in the back. There are pauses in different operations (starting play, disc selection, etc.) but nothing that causes concern. My old disc player had some. Maybe not quite so many or long. These are not noticeable enough to cause concern or disturb what is playing. Disc player cabinet could use lights on more controls/buttons but a small flashlight works if needed.

The Onkyo DX-C390 CD player is a solid, well made CD player. The appearance has modern styling with a low gloss black finish and green display, but still looks good with my vintage Sansui stereo receiver. It does have analog out with two RCA cable connections, so it can be used with older receivers. The controls offer a wide variety of playing options. I appreciate that most or all of the play options can be accessed on the front control panel, and not just the remote. The only critique I have is the player is physically large because it is a six disc turntable. My stereo rack was just large enough for it.

My 1998 Sony 5-Dics CD Changer finally reached its service end. I thought I wanted to replace it with another Sony, but I saw this CD Changer for a good price and with good customer reviews, so I took the plunge. <br \/>\r\nSo far it has performed excellently and produces a broader tonal range than did the older Sony, which is a good thing! <br \/>\r\nNice to get back to listening to my collection of CD's and best of all this unit is backed by good folks there at Sweetwater! That's hard to beat!

Great product, I wanted at least a 5 disc CD player and this one offers 6. Easy to operate although kind of hard to see the buttons with black on black face, but love the green light, matches my Denon amplifier all green light. Very pleased, as my Sony CD player was 17 years old that they still make them. The random select seems a little slower in between discs than my Sony shuffle had, but it now has 6 discs to select from giving me more selection and listening pleasure. Give it a 5 star!

I bought this unit to replace a failed CD player and it works great! However this is the second one since the first one I got wouldn't play CD's. A return authorization and replacement by Sweetwater was done quickly and the replacement works great! Not many good multi-CD players in this price range in the market so this one fits my budget too! I've had other Onkyo products and all were good and lasted a long time

I have been an Onkyo fan ever since I purchased my first Onkyo stereo set in 1988, and I still have it. Most of it is no longer in great working order, but 28 years is not bad for a stereo's life. I saw the excellent reviews for this player, and had no choice but to buy it. I have installed it, it is working just fine, even though, I just installed it. Hopefully, it will live up to it's predecessor.

These types of devices are pretty rare these days, and this Onkyo unit it great. It’s quiet, and the ability to swap out discs while one is playing makes it fabulous for background music while entertaining. Sound quality is excellent. Two issues I’ve encountered - the first unit we got was dead-on-arrival. Fortunately, B&H displayed Stirling customer support with free return shipping and a replacement unit on the way in a heartbeat. The other issue is just a clumsy interface for navigating CD-ROMs full of mp3 files. It works, but it’s a touch clunky.

I don't know anything about sterio equipment and hooking up,,, this is super simple! Comes with a red and white wire that plugs into the back and then plugs into the back of radio power ,,, if that's what it's called. Had 6 CD slots, with a remote. Very simple front, play, change disk, skip, ect. Green display that looks cool. Better than the 5 disk Sony I had!

This was used to replace a pioneer cd changer in a rack system purchased in Japan, in 1989 (Air Force vet) that stopped working. This was a open box (but, still pricy). Shipped in the original box. The item looked brand new. no dents, scratches etc. All buttons worked including the remote. It seems CD players for the home intertainment centers are being phased out , thus the pricy sale tag. A better product than the item it replaced.. I have never purchased an open box item however, I am very pleased with my purchase

I bought the Onkyo to replace my aging Magnavox (38 y.o.) Slight problem is the Onkyo, on certain live recordings or soundtrack albums, will interrupt playback with a brief pause before playing the next track. Called Onkyo they say that's the way it is. Otherwise, lovely to have a good DAC, six discs in the hopper, handy remote and silky smooth carrier. I have stacked the two so I can still play the troubled discs. I thought about returning it but the $300 I paid equates to $118 when I bought my old one.

Have dozens of CDs which I much prefer over streaming. Prefer sound quality of CD over streaming. Like to listen to my selection mix over streaming mix. This CD changer holds 6 CDs so no need to change CD after each CD has played. Very easy to use ...to stop, pause, skip discs or tracks on changer or with a remote. Very happy with this product.

This machine is so good. I love how fast you can switch between cd disc. The old cd player we had at church was so slow reading and would kill the spirit, taking so long. But not this one. I purchase an Onkyo system back in 1997 and it has been very good for many years. The 5 disc CD Player became non-functional so i was in search of a replacement. This is a replacement for an aging CD player. I use it in my studio so I don't have to keep running to change discs. BUT. This model does not support LOSSLESS PLAYBACK which means if you have a live album or movie soundtrack it will pause in between titled tracks. Annoying. Now I have two cd players, the old (1989) for the lossless playback and the new Onkyo. There is 37 years difference in build date, why does the Onkyo not support lossless play?

I like it better than my Yamaha 5-disc changer (the previous model). The Onkyo has optical and coax digital outputs, Yamaha only has an optical digital output and one less disc capacity. The Onkyo is solid for my system as I run the Onkyo into a DAC.

The item I purchased is the item I wanted. However, shortly after making the purchase I received a note saying the same item was available for $98.00 less. I tried to make a second purchase to take advantage of the cheaper price. I tried multiple times to select the item for the cheaper price. I never was successful. Ii seems appropriate for the company to offer us a rebate or refund for the difference.

It works well. It was easy to set up. We got it to replace a 17 year old Sony cd player. We wish it didn't have an always on red light for the standby mode. All the lights are not necessary especially when you can't turn them off.
