(Sep/2025)\n\nFirst, delivery was prompt and courteous. \nRight off the bat, I hope these new Whirlpool appliances last as long as our previous Whirlpool appliances.\nInitially bought in 1999. That's 26 years old.\n\nNo complaints about the dryer. Actually really quite impressed with the heat produced, even drying on "low" heat.\nInstruction manual good but very short on operational and setting documentation, ie. what each cycle actually means/duration etc.\nAgain, very short on paper documentation. Not much for specific operational instructions, ie. specific cycle meanings. \nMore googling.\n\nThe washer. This one is harder to figure out, specifically the amount of water used to wash the clothes.\nComing from a 1999 (26 year old) Whirlpool washer where it fills up with water to a designated amount (load size) \nto this HE type top-load washer is getting hard to know what to expect.\nAgain, just one flimsy sheet of operational documentation (Quick Start Guide) which didn't explain further what each cycle/option means \nalthough I did eventually find on the Whirlpool site, a condensed version of the Washer Cycle Guide. \n\nSo, our very first wash was a Quick Wash, on warm wash, with a little bit of clothes. We were amazed how little water was used in the wash.\nDidn't even cover the clothes. Some of the clothes stayed on top and didn't even look wet. How can the clothes get clean?? \nSo, coming from our 1999 Whirlpool washer water levels to this was surprising. Did some more reading/googling. \nMaybe Deep Water option is the answer. Maybe the option senses better and then adds just enough water. \nOh, it definitely adds more water. Way more water that we thought would occur.\nWith the Deep Water option on, it fills the tub to two inches below the agitator top no matter what size of load. \nFrustrated that it didn't work as we expected. More reading/googling. Back to this later.\n\nThe spin cycles are fantastic. On high spin, it spins, it seems, as fast as an airplane turbine.\nThe selection of Warm water seems a bit clunky when filling up. It seems instead of combining/mixing hot and cold water at the "same" time \nto create the warm water wash, the water regulator valve clunks on and off multiple times during the filling up process on each hot and cold water faucets.\nI can see an issue with this valve regulator in the future, that is wear & tear.\n\nSo, back to the water level issue. We tried a Normal wash with a bit more clothes but that still didn't cover the clothes with water as expected.\nReading further it seems the washer senses the "weight" of the dry clothes at the beginning of the cycle and determines how much water to use.\nWater usage appears to be linked to the "weight" of the dry clothes.\nSo, we determined to "trick" the washer into sensing a heavier load by wetting the clothes first in the washing tub BEFORE selecting a cycle.\nThat seems to work. \nBy wetting the dry clothes, in the washer tub, prior to washing, the washer senses a heavier load and now adds enough water to cover the load.\nThat appears to be the solution for us right now.\n\nAlso, this washer seems more prone to out-of-balance conditions, even on normal loads.\nThe doc says "If the washer detects an out-of-balance condition it may pause and attempt and resolve the issue". \nDoesn't really explain how and what happens but it pauses, sprays more water, drains, tries to spin forward/backward,\nsprays more water and so on. It tries to relieve the out-of-balance condition but takes quite a bit longer.\n\nAlso, what if you want to just cancel and drain the cycle. How is that done? Again, lack of documentation. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this model a couple weeks ago and is honestly a decent upgrade from our old and tired Amana. \n\nAfter washing several loads of daily wear and larger items, I am pleased to report that my clothes come out clean and fresh. \nThe tub is larger than most others that I looked at in this price range, and the removable agitator is what really sold us on this model. Great for washing large items such as blankets and comforters.\n I have a huge 10’x10’ blanket that was a real pain to wash in the old Amana, and this washer was able to easily handle it without getting thrown off balance like my previous machine. \nI really like the 30 minute pre soak feature, which I have not seen on many other washing machines and “faucet” feature is nice to have also, as it lets you turn on the water with the lid open. \n\nMy only major complaint is that it is RIDICULOUSLY loud when the tub is filling with water. \nSo loud, that we have to turn the volume way up if we’re watching TV and practically yell at each other to have a conversation in our living room. \nIt can be heard throughout my entire house - and is truly sensory overload, for me. \nAside from the water filling noise, it is fairly quiet, I suppose, during wash and spin cycles. \n\nI don’t mind having to put the detergent in the drum before filling, but I am disappointed that there is no fabric softener dispenser. I don’t use fabric softener, but I do use laundry sanitizer on my towels and I usually end up having to do a separate rinse/drain cycle because I can never remember to catch it in the final rinse cycle. \n\nI was also surprised to find that there was no owner’s manual supplied, and the only documentation I can find is the installation instructions and a cycle guide that briefly explains the different cycle modes. I have not been able to find any operating instructions for this model anywhere. \n\nAll in all, this is a fairly decent washer with some nice features for the price and I hope it will last for years to come.

I am writing to express my concern regarding the performance of my Whirlpool top-load washer, Model Number WTW5057LW, Serial Number Cd0502028, purchased in March 2024.\n\nApproximately May 10, 2025, just 60 days after the warranty expired, the removable agitator (Part Number: W11614636) began breaking apart at the bottom, causing it to no longer make a proper seal. This renders the washer less effective and raises concerns about the quality and durability of the part—especially since I only do about 1 to 2 loads of laundry per week.\n\nI contacted Whirlpool’s service department and was informed that I would need to purchase a replacement agitator, which I did at my own expense. While I understand that the warranty had just lapsed, I feel this failure so soon after the coverage period—especially with such light usage—indicates a premature defect and not ordinary wear and tear. My previous Whirlpool washer lasted over 20 years without such issues, which makes this situation particularly disappointing.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Cleans great. I have a lot of issues with this washer. The first is the noise level. This is the noisiest machine ever. The tech came and checked it out, said this is normal now. The store offered to replace with another model but said all top loads are noisy. It is like there is no insulation between the motor and the outer shell. No soap or fabric softener tray, nothing saying saying how long the cycles are, nothing saying rinse, it's all wash. No signal that the load is done. Not very efficient use of time. Always listening for the rinse, then for when the load is done. I do like the agitator and that it is removable. This machine cleans wonderful. To bad they took so many short cuts. I had already done a review but it must have gotten lost.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) We've had our washing machine for about one month now. I like the ease of use and figuring out settings were/are not complicated at all. I question the amount of water gong into the machine and don't think it's enough, but the deep wash option is able to solve that issue, sort of. It isn't as energy efficient then to use so much more water. The biggest reason I gave it a 3 star rating is the machine is terribly noisy!! The only advantage to how noisy the machine is, there is no end of cycle alert and if I don't hear it rattling away, I know it's done. Another thing I like about the machine is the slow close lid and that I can easily see into the machine while it's washing.

First laundry washer I've had to do that with. I'm a launderer guru! This machine takes some time to figure out. I've wasted water, laundry soap and especially fabric softener. \nI'm also not one who uses bleach possibly 1x per year grandkids allergic. The one time I used bleach once I remove the clothes I ruined the shirt I was wearing!!! Apparently the bleach container on washer did not rinse all the way out, use caution in this area! I put it in bleach container once the load was done

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This washer has no fabric softener dispenser & you cannot open the lid while it is running so you have to add softener when you add the detergent before you start the cycle. I've had multiple pieces of clothing get softener stains on them because you cannot start a cycle then lift the lid and add softener after the tub has started to fill with water. I think it is stupid that the lid locks once cycle has started. What if you wanted to add another piece of clothing? Did not realise this when I bought the washer. Spend alittle more money & get a washer with more features because this one sucks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jeans, socks, bath towels, in a small load seem to leave spots on socks that have not been turned under and into wash water. Clean/Calibration cycle has been done. We are still trying to figure out wash cycles for mixed loads and when/how to activate Deep Water. With variable wash cycle lengths, I wish this model had an end-of-cycle buzzer. Yesterday, two coins got stacked and tightly wedged in the bottom crack between the impeller and drum. It took a serious pliers pull to yank the quarter and serious fishing to extract the remaining now loose dime. We were close to a service call.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this machine a few weeks ago and it works satisfactorily though it lacks a number of features that my wife is not pleased about. Like a means to insert different cleaning agents during the cycle, with no place to put them and no ability to temporarily stop and open the locked lid, or to automatically pause to do so. Worse, it comes with virtually no real owner's manual to tell the operator what all the buttons do or how to use the different options. I had to research online, found some but nothing like a comprehensive document.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the size so I can wash my comforter. But the design is not the best. I used it less than 10 times and needed the repair guy to come fix it. The lock went bad and the washer would not work. The drier we bought with it, works ok. You can't put large loads in there and I hate the design. The lint trap is designed in a way where it sits on top of the drier and when you take it out to clean it, the lint goes all over the machine and floor. If I could return it, I would.

Also, the owner's manual is useless unless you are installing the washer. Nothing that comes with the washer explains the settings and options. Through other means I found the "washer cycle guide which should be a part of the owner's manual and come with the washer. Also it has no audible signal when it's done.

I just bought this washer and although it seems to work ok, I find it doesnt clean the clothes as well as it should. Plus I find it real surprising that all washers don't have a fabric softener dispenser. Something I never even thought to look for as I'd assumed they all did. I also don't like that the lid locks as soon as the cycle starts thus denying the opportunity to add a forgotten item.

The older version of this washer was much better - it seems that they have cheapened the working capabilities of this machine. The instructions on operating the machine is "non-existent". I had to Google "how do you add the fabric softener" for this model before I could use it. I have to stop the cycle to add the fabric softener.

Nice that it’s big and had a removable agitator but leaves spots and the control board had to be replaced in less then a year.Mine is 2 years old and uses a lot of water and so loud. I won’t buy another whirlpool that’s for sure.
