I did a lot of research about soundbars, wireless subwoofers, etc. I wasn't sure about spending so much money on this system when I see other systems that are a fraction of the cost. Of course reading reviews about Sonos products tends to place this and their other systems at the top of the list for quality. I had gone back and forth about the sub vs. the mini sub, the ray vs. the beam, and if the surround speakers were necessary. I ultimately opted for the package deal (cheapest through B&H, even if you find refurbished ones out there, B&H was still the best price). As for my living space, I have a corner couch in a living room that shares the space with our a dinning room. The system was pretty easy to set up, even with two young children running around. The app has worked well and using the HDMI arc input on the tv has made controlling volume a breeze. If I could do things differently, I would possible consider holding off on the surround speakers as I'm not entirely sure how much different they make for my space and my viewing circumstances (mostly disney movies with the kids at the moment), but they certainly don't detract in any way. The whole point of surrounds is to provide that subtle complement to the main system, which I do believe they provide. I just don't know if they were in fact necessary in my surroundings. The nice thing is, however, is that the surrounds can easily be repurposed for wireless speakers anywhere else around the house, so it's really not an issue. For now, I'll leave them where they are and enjoy the rare occasion of fully utilizing them and the other components. Regarding the soundbar and the min sub, they are pretty awesome and I would highly recommend them if you have the money and the need. Using the system for music, it's pretty impressive, too, including with surrounds (which really are high quality speakers on their own). At any rate, I'm pleased with my purchase and I would make it again, although perhaps I would have started with the beam and mini sub and then later add the surrounds, but I have no regrets getting them all at the same time, particularly given the package price.
