We purchased a PAIR of these for our gourmet kitchen when our fridge finally died after 15 years. We use one for the fridge and one for the freezer. Comparably sized setups from the boutique brands (e.g. Kitchen Aide) can cost upwards of $8,000! For about $1600 we have 42 cubic feet of refrigerated storage. Because of the extreme height of the 21 cf model, we did have to alter our cabinets a bit, but it was worth it for the extra capacity. The 17 cf model would have fit but they were sold out. In the end I'm glad we went with the larger 21. One note: per the owners manual, these units have unique requirements for distance from walls. These units require additional space - not sure why. It's probably overkill, but to be safe I installed cooling/circulation fans at the rear/base of the units that draws in cool air and exhausts out the base/bottom of the units. The noise is hardly noticeable and it's peace of mind that they won't be overheating. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the inability to swap the door opening from RH to LH. This is a very common feature that is not available on these units.

I'm doing a kitchen remodel so I bought two because I can make room for them in my configuration. I have one set to refrigerator and one set to freezer.
This has been working very well, the storage is excellent and without a lot of extra stuff in the way like a bulky ice maker or water dispenser. Also buying both was cheaper than buying most normal refrigerators.
I bought the medium and the large sizes. It's worth knowing that on the large one you still get four shelves with two drawers. Obviously there's more space for each shelf but they don't add a fifth. Also the shelves on the door are fairly narrow, so if you are a super condiment person this might not work great for you. On the other hand I had many condiments I probably needed to do away with, so this does help keep you organized and slim down your collection.
This review is for the medium one which I am using as a refrigerator. Since there are no dividers I ended up getting an aftermarket under drawer thing for my butter and cheeses. This way they stay organized and don't take up precious shelf space. See picture.

I was curious how I would take advantage of this interior storage and was super excited to find out that milk crates easily fit on all of the shelves. Like old plastic milk crates. I was able to use up all the vertical space or each of the shelves. As a small regenerative grass-based meat farmer, I was able to store over 1000lb lbs of fresh pastured chicken in two of these freezers. There is also room to spare, like an open shelf and two open drawers. So I was also super surprised to have extra room. I am very happy with the purchase. The little LED touch screen goes to sleep, but the is a small blue light that I can see, easily by glancing at the freezers, as I walk by them in the garage, easily checked and making sure they have power. Also, I know it is not recommended to have two freezers plugged into the same outlet, much less the same circuit, much less GFCI outlets. Unfortunately, I have done all three, have both freezers plugged into the same GFCI outlet, and no problem. Freezers are super cold and have not tripped any breakers. This is my 2nd Insignia freezer and I am completely in love. We bought this one because our other smaller one died (or so we thought). There was actually a problem with our outlet and our original 6 year old Insignia still lives! We opted to keep it because we were going to get a bigger one eventually anyway. The design is very good. The shelves are very substantial and I do not see any bowing even with a large weight capacity. We put in a freezer thermometer to alert if there is an issue and keep track of the temperature. It really does keep it at the set temperature. You can see it slightly change in temperature when stocking it just by 3 or 4 degrees. My only dislike is how hard I have to pull to open the door but its definitely secure. The delivery team was amazing too. They followed instructions perfectly, as we have a special needs dog who is terrified of delivery drivers. They also were the ones to figure out that there was a problem with the outlet and unloaded my old fridge since it still worked. I don't always have positive experiences at Best Buy, so I was very pleasantly surprised by this experience!

It has some great cu footage, like the lighting, great to have an upright to get to things easily. Had a deep chest freezer before this that I enjoyed, however the drawback is you have to dig down to get to things. When you do that, things get missed and expire. Just cleared out a family members chest freezer that we had to throw away old food that was forgotten. With this upright, I feel like you arent missing anything and you can get to it easily on nice clear shelves. Our recommendation is to use boxes to set your stuff in so you can pullout your food without anything falling out, and so that you can fill each shelf to the top. It also fits perfectly into a bumpout downstairs and saves space overall compared to a large chest freezer. One thing is, the door has some mighty magnets. Before we loaded it down with food and weight, it could actually pull the fridge forward. After you fill it up it opens and shuts with a great seal and wont budge. Highly recommend going with an upright this size. Also like the door shelves for little things like icecream etc. Recommend this freezer

So far this freezer is AMAZING! It is so much bigger than I expected, but I am glad it is large. I got it so that I could do a bunch of meal prep before the spring semester started since I work full time and go to school. I ordered at the right time it seems, my freezer in my refrigerator was not keeping ice cream solid and now all my Ben & Jerry's is safe and sound and solid for when I Need it while researching those last minute papers, lol!
Others have noted the security of the door and it does take effort to open it, but nothing that seems excessive to me. My floor is slippery so I do have to hold the side when I open it, but I do not find it problematic. I would highly recommend this freezer!

So far this refrigerator/freezer has worked well in both settings.
Some people have mentioned issues with the refrigerator temperature varying a lot. While the temperature does vary as high as 44 degrees (when the setting is a 36 degrees), it only reaches this range for about an hour a day during the auto defrost cycle. Otherwise the temperature is very stable (usually +/- 2 degrees). Please note - the refrigerator is located in a garage environment that ranges from 70-85 degrees.
I monitored the temperature via a Tempstick probe that automatically plots the temperature (I have included a snapshot of a recent 5 day period).

Nice looking freezer or fridge. Whichever you prefer to use it as. Bought it to replace a deep freezer. Tried it as a fridge for the first week. Worked great. Tested Temperature is true to digital display. Changed it to freezer and it cooled down very quickly. Temp readings also match digital display. So far it's a great purchase. It is so much easier to find items in this compared to the deep freezer I have. Only thing that may cause some people issues is that the door seals really well (which is a good thing) but could be slightly difficult for some to open. Will probably buy another to use as dedicated fridge.

Emptied the contents of a full-to-the-brim 7cu chest freezer into this new 13cu upright and let it settle overnight. The temperature delta is excellent, swinging between 0.2 and -0.6 degF. As far as energy usage I am seeing about 77W for 10 minutes, and then off for 15 minutes. The unit is in the garage where the temperature fluctuates between 60-70 degF during my short test. If things change for the worse I will update my review as the garage temperature can get to up to 95 degF during the summer months.

I bought this to replace our chest freezer.
The convenience of shelf is amazing (have the 17 cu ft). It’s in my garage where the temperature in summer climbed to 100F for few days and it had no problems at all.
When running I hear no discernible noise.
I have so far used it as a freezer and I can consistently get temperature at -11F.
Icing on the cake is that Bestbuy set this up for me and made sure it’s aligned and balanced.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I bought a Frigidaire model a couple of years ago but it had horrible frosting issues. This one has a great sealing door and lots of usable space inside. Great secondary unit - why buy one when you buy two at twice the price? It has worked out great to have a full size freezer and matching refrigerator to supplement our smaller unit in the kitchen.
Doors are a little hard to open when they aren’t full - but that just means that seal is tight! Great value.
