Dead simple. Solar powered. Throw it in the console of the truck and grab it when necessary. I know my phone can do more, but I am tired of being tied to this thing.

These are the best calculators for middle schoolers. I've been given other ones and these stand the test of time. With other calculators, kids could rip of buttons or easily try to take it apart. These last me years.

bought a 10-pack for our child's class. teacher informed us that they needed calculators for the 6th grade math class. calculators work fine.

The TI-80 Calculator Teacher Kit was exactly what we needed for our biology labs. Very affordable, solar charging (no batteries!), and the calculators have all of the basic scientific functions.

Our elementary and middle school use these in the classroom. They are very sturdy and have held up extremely well. Having noted the above fact these were a natural choice for me to order to send to a very remote village school in Ethiopia. A teachers teaching guide sheet would be quite helpful for them to add to this box of ten.

This calculator initially worked great. But this morning (about 45 days after I purchased it), it stopped working. At first I thought the solar battery had gotten drained. So I exposed it to sunlight for a couple of hours, and then tried it again. The calculator powered up, but gave me a wildly-incorrect answer to a simple subtraction problem, and is now "dead" again. Sure NOT what I'd expect from a Texas Instruments product --!

It's too small. it only goes to eight digits. and for some reason everytime i used it i got sick. i later found out that it was painted with paint that might be toxic. and it seemed to to be working on me. it may be cheap but you'll know why after you get it. no wonder i have never heard of this calculator before.

When you want a calculator to just crunch some numbers, balance your bank account, etc this is definitely a great choice. Fits in pocket easily. Has a hard protective cover. Can be tossed in a woman's purse as well. Or leave it in your desk. I'm going to buy more of these. Works fine but these usually come with a cover that when you use the calculator it slides on the back. With no cover, its on all the time unless you flip it over.

Exactly what I've long wanted... a palm-sized solar-powered calculator with hard buttons. Took waiting till my last soft-button one died till I started searching. I already own two others of this same calculator. I keep one downstairs, one in my purse and now I have one for my desk upstairs. It is a very basic calculator, but ideal for simple math. It has fairly large buttons. The one feature that I like the most about it is the hard, plastic front cover. It protects it from bumps and prevents the screen from becoming damaged. I had another one almost identical to it that lasted for 21 years and the only reason it was no longer useful was because I left the cover off of it and the screen got damaged. It's an excellent calculator for the money.
