Epson presented me an opportunity to beta test their Expression Photo HD XP-15000 Wide-format Printer (referred to from now on as the “15K”). I own another Epson printer (the Workforce 3460). Throughout the review, where applicable, I’ll make comparisons to that printer. I used the 15K for roughly a week. This review is broken into different sections. If you want the full run-down, please read on. If you’re only interested in the final yea or nay, please skip to the end. Packaging & Unboxing: Packaging draws you in. Colors pop. The box provides information needed to make a purchase decision -- printer dimensions, speeds, resolutions, accessories, etc. The printer is securely packaged. Unboxing took about 10 minutes. Printer Footprint & Build: Surprisingly small footprint -- 18.7” (L), 14.5” (W), 6.3” (H), with all trays/supports collapsed. Easily fit on my work desk, which has two monitors. Front tray, fully extended, adds possible 10.5”. Top, three-tier support, fully extended, adds 11.5” height. Housing is made of same plastic used in most mid- to high-end printers. Internal components (metal, plastic, rubber, & cork) are well-made. 15K will be able to handle bumps & items placed on it. External build looks high-end. Top of printer is “rough,” lessens fingerprints you’d see otherwise. Front control panel, also not reflective, can be pivoted out. Rotates on internal gears that provide decent resistance & allow you to easily view LCD screen. Panel stays in place, removing need to hold panel while pressing controls. Still easy to press control housing into printer body. Slides (trays, supports, etc.) are typical of Epson builds. Can be interesting to pull out, but stay in place. Front tray holds up to 200 sheets of paper (max 8.5”x13”). Top tray holds up to 50 sheets (max 13”x19”). Output tray is automatic (elegant touch). If closed, will open to hold printouts. Given 15K offers two-sided printing, has removable duplexer on rear of housing, to clear jams. Rollers seem meaty, well-made. Cartridges glide seamlessly. Printer offers a “normal” & “quiet” mode. “Normal” mode is quieter than my 3640. Printer doesn’t offer SD card reader. Control Panel & Buttons: Provides 11 buttons & 2.4” LCD screen. Left of LCD, are power & home buttons. On right is a keypad to control print jobs, navigate printer’s built-in user interface, & control automatic output tray. Buttons provide nice response. LCD screen isn’t a touch screen. Onscreen images are clear. Navigation & confirmation of selections is intuitive. Can’t click through menu or other options too fast. Interface takes a second to catch up, sometimes resulting in need to hit “back” button to enable selecting on-screen options. Go relatively slow, shouldn’t face problems. Accessories: Power cord; 6, full-size cartridges (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Red, & Gray); CD with drivers, etc.; assortment of hard-copy documentation; cleaning sheet; bag for print cartridge protectors; &, nice sample pack of printing paper -- premium glossy photo paper, borderless glossy photo paper, heavyweight matte paper, & premium semi-gloss photo paper (about 5 sheets of each). All sets of sheets separated by non-acidic paper. Epson chose not to include printer USB cable. For $350, they should have. Setup: General setup fairly straightforward, although I found initial software-guided setup to be wonky. Epson provided auto-connect method. It’s supposed to form temporary WiFi network (not involving your router) between 15K & PC, failed for me. With no USB cable, I didn’t test wired option. I closed software-guided setup & installed another way, which I recommend doing. Connect the 15K to your wireless network, first; run PC installer (selecting “Wireless connection”); choose “The printer is already on my wireless network,” &, follow setup instructions. Better than auto-connect, IMHO. ***General Setup: Hardware setup is easy. Read & follow "XP-15000 Start Here" guide & 15K’s onboard instructions. Full setup took about 30 minutes. YMMV, depending on how thorough/careful you are with unboxing, etc. Don’t rush. Follow instructions carefully. Setup & use experience will be better for it. ***WiFi Setup (Do 1st): WiFi setup was a snap. Used 15K’s wizard, in A/C (5GHz)/N, G, B (2.4GHz) network. Printer saw N 2.4 GHz band with no problem. Noted on the box, 15K only supports 2.4GHz wireless radios. After selecting 2.4GHz channel & entering router's password, connecting was buttery smooth. 15K has a strong wireless radio & (despite decent distance from router, with obstructions) found my network immediately. 15K prompted me to run firmware update, which I did. I then installed drivers on my PC. ***Win 10 Install: Didn’t use included CD. Drivers tend to be outdated. If you don’t have web access, CD will get you up & running. Used web browser to hit 15K’s driver/software page. Downloaded & installed full driver & utilities combo. 15K’s page offers: print drivers (local & remote pr

My experience with the Epson - Expression Photo HD XP-15000 Wireless Printer has been a very positive experience. It was so easy to set up! From taking it out of the box, to completion was about 25 minutes. I only hit a few snags which I was able to figure out within a few minutes. It comes with a quick start guide that guides you through the set up. First step was the unpacking. It had everything on the list except for the ink cap storage bag. So I used a Ziploc bag instead. No big deal. This step also requires you to remove the blue tape holding everything in place for shipping purposes. It has a few pictures as to where you will find the tape. However it does NOT have a picture for the paper tray to remove the tape. This may have been helpful to clear up some confusion on loading the paper later down the road. Next step was to turn on and configure. (Simple) Next step was to install the ink cartridges. It was very easy. Everything was labeled and pretty self explanatory. This part was such a breeze. Next part is to load the paper. This is where I hit my first snag. I was trying to load the paper in the output tray instead of the paper tray. This was probably just an error on my part. I did read the directions over and over but for some reason I was getting it wrong. LOL. Next was the alignment of the ink cartridges and test papers. One of the first print outs is a bunch of squares in a line and you have to choose which one is the most solid. That part was easy. The last part of it was these bars that printed and you were supposed to choose which one had no gap between and were not overlapping. With both bars being the same color, it was very hard to distinguish the best choice. I wish they were different colors. I would have been more confident in my choices. Next was installing the software onto my computer. This part was pretty easy as well. I hit another snag when I was trying to set up a wireless connection. No where in any of the directions on the quick start guide or in the CD directions did it say to set it up directly on the printer. I thought myself to check this and set it up on there. If it was someone such as my parents who were trying to set this up would not have thought to check that. I think it should be added to the directions. I hooked mine up through wireless network. After all of that, I was ready to print! This printer came with a sample pack of photo paper!! Gotta love that!!! So I chose regular glossy paper and tested this bad boy out!! I chose one of my best quality photos to print. I have to say, the quality is AMAZING!!! It is professional quality!! I included a photo of my photo that printed, but even that does not give it the justice it deserves!! I am AMAZED!! Every single picture I have printed has been amazing quality!! This not only prints photos, it is all of your printing needs in one!! I run a small family owned business. We rely on pictures to be able to sell. With that being said it was getting really expensive to keep going back to the print shop every week. I have been looking at printers on and off for a while not knowing which one to get. The thing is this is an investment for my business and I want something that will last. \r\n\r\nSo obviously I ended up getting this one. This is 24lbs. I thought that this was going to be a huge printer due to the weight but its actually really desk friendly! It doesn't have a scanner to it or fax-its strictly a photo printer so if you need those features, this isnt for you. \r\n\r\nThe setup for the printer took me roughly 10 minutes. It does come with the hardware disk for you to pop in and set up with no problems. The first few days it would pop up asking me to do updates on it so just be ready for that. Something that I noticed about it that had me a little worried were all printer cartridges it has with it. There is one for every color. The reason why I was worried was cause I was afraid that they were going to be pricey but the range from $11-$15 dollars a piece depending where you buy them at. The only con I can see is if you use one color more than another color you will be replacing it alot faster so your ink levels wont all be ran the same.\r\n\r\nSo how well does it print? I did a print comparsion for yall to see. I am happy with the quality. One thing that I did notice is that it dries super quick. Problems that I have had in the past is that when a print comes out its still wet so it smears. With this the moment it comes out it its dry so no smearing. I purchased this printer 6-1/2 months ago to produce smaller photographic prints for matting and selling at craft shows with my daughter. So far I have printed 100 or more finished prints (many more test prints) in sizes from 5x7 to 11x17 without any image quality issues.\n\nOur home is Apple oriented and my wife and I both love the wireless feature for printing off anything from our iPads, iPhones, MacBooks and MacMini m1. It is so cool the way the printer turns on automatically, the tray slides out and after the print has been made the printer shuts down again.\n\nWe particularly like the built in carriage that always has a stack of basic inkjet paper in it, with an amazing automatic double sided print feature. My wife is a quilt maker and mostly prints off instructions and layouts - so once she caught on to this setting, appreciated not have to waste so much extra paper when printing out multi-page documents.\n\nRecently we successfully printed a 20 page zine on double sided glossy photo paper, without a hitch. Importantly as a retired couple, we now have mostly unframed printed photos sitting around on dressers and countertops of our personal travel adventures and family memories.\n\nAs for paper jam, I've had one in all this time. I panicked when I tried to print a document using the paper cartridge and a terrible grinding and clicking started with no print coming out. I was certain I had destroyed the printer and unplugged it immediately. Not knowing what was going on, I went to my trusty CoPilot app (AI) on my phone and informed me how to unlatch the back of the printer and remove the jam. When I opened it, I found that a sheet of inexpensive Avery style labels had got mixed in when I added sheets of paper - and a few of the labels had releases and wrapped around the mechanism. Embarrassing. Thank goodness no damage was done and the printer has soldiered on since then. That's not a knock on the printer though.\n\nInks are expensive, but I'm used to that having used Epson printers since the early 2000's. I made a conscientious choice to pay less for the printer and accept the higher cost at this time, than paying substantially more for the printer with the lower cost eco tanks.\n\nFYI. A great tip that I think I have benefitted from, is to run an ink test about every week. It takes a few seconds, doesn't use much ink, and as far as I know it uses every nozzle to generate the thin lines of each colour. I am not using for the purpose of determining if the print head needs cleaning, but to lower the odds of ink drying up and nozzles needing cleaning. Especially if I weren't to print anything for a few weeks. So far, so good.

My prior printer was a Canon 9500 Mark 2 with ten inks. I could download ICC profiles for multiple papers, including Ilford Gold Fibre Silk as well as Museo papers. Paper loading of large format paper was always a pain but the quality of pigment based inks was excellent. Fast forward ten years. Canon no longer supports software updates as of 2017 so my printer is now a paperweight. Read good reviews on the Epson wide format printer as I print 13x19 for photography exclusively. Setup was easy. The printer is smaller which is good but a lot lighter, so maybe not perfect for heavy duty use. I am a light user so no problem. I could not download any ICC profiles for the papers I use but some companies do have profiles. The new 6 ink setup is not pigment but dye based, yet has excellent durability, so it will be less expensive to run. The colours, using the printer to choose colour, rather than ICC's, worked out perfectly. Screen and print were very close. Note that my screen is calibrated. Feeding large format paper is a snap and there were no print issues. Overall, I am very impressed.

I bought this printer about a month ago and plan to use it for my business selling prints of my artwork. I spent about two weeks daily reading about printers and their reviews. This printer kept coming up as excellent. It prints professional quality while being a really reasonable cost. I am using Epson's Velvet Fine Art paper. My art prints look better than when I was taking them to a professional printer 20 minutes away. Now I can print from home, save time, and keep the cost of my prints lower. Give yourself 1.5 -2 hours minimum to remove packaging and set up. The printer comes packaged really well and shipped quickly. Be careful to really check to see that you remove all of the blue tape throughout the machine. I had to carefully unscrew one part on the bottom of the printer in order to remove some of the blue tape and styrofoam packaging. Also, be sure NOT to try and manually pull out the front paper output tray. Once you plug it in, it will come out automatically when it prints. There is a button on the front panel to tap when you want it to retract. (See my photo where I point to this button.) I accidentally pulled it out manually and then couldn't get it to go back in. I though I had broken it. Fortunately, I had not. It took me a little while to figure out how to print from the rear try using my photo software. Again, take your time. Epson's online user's guide is very helpful. It is one of the few printers that takes heavy weight (140 pound) art paper which I needed. I do have to fee the paper one sheet at a time. The colors are super accurate to my original art, and like I said, much better than the laser prints from the professional printing company. I can't comment yet on ink usage and how often I'll need to purchase the cartridges. I accept that the ink will be pricey but plan to factor that in to the cost of my prints. This printer is amazing and I highly recommend it for artists.

This appears to be an excellent printer. I am pleased and impressed with the quality of the images it has produced. While it will print wide format images, it nonetheless folds up nicely for storage. Because you only need to use the rear feed for printing larger images, the printer can be placed and utilized while in a smaller cabinet on account of the reduced space needed. This is a great option for photographers who want only a good printer and either already have or don't need a scanner.\n\nWhy only four stars? Ultimately a full assessment of any technology cannot be made in only a few weeks or even months of usage. How this printer works over time is yet to be determined. I can only be hopeful that it continues to serve me well.

I used it for 3 years now with excellent results even if it is very slow (3 minutes per glossy letter page at max resolution). However Epson is not supporting this printer anymore with the latest MacOS Sequoia. There is no native Epson driver available, and the AirPrint driver does not support color profiles making it useless for fine art printing. After some ugly shenanigans involving finding and installing an old driver for Ventura OS I made it work via USB connection only but I fully expect future OS updates will break my ad-hoc solution.

Here in Fairbanks Alaska, there is no real Photo print shop that meet my standards in turn I have been using online photo print services it's not that they didn't do a good job, but the shipping was cutting into the profits not to mention the time it was taking and in the event of a redo it was costing even more time. After completing a 2-year photo documentary, it is time for the public presentation in the form of a photo show after doing the math it was feasible to purchase an Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000 Inkjet Printer. I had planned a whole weekend to set the printer up and learn the in and out of the printer, well after two hours of setting up the printer the 1st test print came out and just blew me away dead nuts on target and the printer was ready for action. Keep in mind I have invested in some of the best components for my photo editing system over the years and the Epson HD XP 15000 complemented the system. \nAs I write this review it is still printing the last of the 18 prints in the queue with every one of the prints was to my high standards from the looks of it, I will be able to complete the project way ahead of schedule.\n The monochrome prints that this printer produced was impressive no need for test prints and wasted paper or ink this is true for the color prints also. With over 45 years in photography at the professional level this is the most impressive printers in this price range, if you're shopping for a 13-inch printer don't pass this up!

Very easy to set up and connect to WiFi. Test sheets seemed good but first photographs were uneven and more calibration is required. I like the flexibility of the two feeds and the range of sizes available. Nice to have: six colors, print tray advances, retracts and stores automatically and neatly, wireless freedom from cables is great, printer responds immediately even from several feet away.The screen is ok, should be a little larger, but works adequately. This is my 3rd or 4th Epson printer.

Setup up went smoothly, Ink carts a little tricky to get in but once you got the first one in it was easy for the rest. Output is excellent for both luster and matte papers. Printer is smaller and lighter than my previous one (Epson R2000) which I like. I only have two "gripes": 1) the extending paper receiver strikes me as just another unnecessary motor to go wrong and 2) the plastic-heavy construction seems a little flimsy. In general I'm very happy with it.

so far so good, I have printed a few photos now and the color is good. the only thing I wish that was better is that the print drop down menu does not ahve all epson papers listed and is therefor a bit of a guessing game on which setting fits which pair. guessing it for the luster premium photo paper was fine, but there are no clear options for the presentation papers. I jsut wish you all had a much more detailed dan declarer list of papers.

This is to replace my 10 year old stylus photo 1400,it is smaller,quieter,faster and prints seem to have more depth to them and prints are sharper. I did notice on printing a dark print 2 sets of double indent lines the width of the paper that are seen when looking up close and the display on printer is a pain ,I use a desktop comp. and find this redundant.

I have had one of these since first came out. Only problems I have with it are: the small cartridges, how it goes thru ink very quickly, and the ink is expensive. Hindsight would have been a drop in exterior ink cartridge attachment and refillable ink verses such small cartridges.

Really great printer. I only wish there was a downloadable driver for newer Mac OS, which seems to be a common problem with Epson. Still, I am very impressed with this printer's quality, 2-sided printing and added functions (like auto on/off - love that!).

I bought this printer because I had promised myself that once I moved into a studio space I was going to start printing again. I didn't print at home because of the dogs and cats shedding. My first prints have been 13x19. The largest I've ever printed. There's something special about seeing a shot that you've taken, printed that large. The thing that struck me was the speed. I remember my old Stylus Photo printers taking forever for an 8x10. Even on the highest quality setting, it seems like the 13x19s were done before the 8x10s I remember. The price point was right to get me back into printing my stuff and I'm 100% certain I'll be adding to my list of printers over time. They always have been and always will be Epson. Besides it looks so sexy sitting there beside my Workforce 4730

Was looking for a photo printer to finally get pictures of the grandkids “Off my Phone and Onto the Wall!” The fact this unit can create borderless prints up to 13”x19” made for an even greater selection than the “back in My day…” photo printers of the past. Can be a bit quirky; ie…paper loading/out of paper/cancels the current print) as well as relatively ‘thirsty' insofar as ink consumption is concerned. Overall I am extremely pleased with the results, price and capability(s) of this printer. That the price continues to decrease only helps to consider this printer amongst the myriad others available. (imho🤷🏻♂️)

I am a professional photographer. I spend so much money paying for prints. So, in order to increase my margin on smaller sized prints, I thought I would give this more entry level printer a try. I am not a big business, so I couldn't justify buying the P900 or better (though, if I could afford it, I would!). I read a lot of reviews before purchasing and some were mixed, most were good. So, I went ahead. I received it along with some ultra lustre premium epson paper and a full set of high capacity ink replacement cartridges. I ordered two sizes of the photo paper, 8.5 x 11 and 13 x 19. After following the direction for setup, I did waste some of the premium paper until I figured out, no real guidance from the directions, to get borderless, edge to edge prints. Then, I managed to get two, one in each size, really lovely prints of one of my photographs. I was super excited and so happy. I also stopped that day. Then the holidays began and didn't get back to more testing until now. Well, despite having no issues with my test prints, the first attempt at printing now resulted in horrible banding and what looked like runny ink. I tried all the suggested trouble shooting. I wasted several pieces of costly photo paper. Then I thought, well, maybe I should try printing from another device (I had only used my MacBook pro for both setup and all initial images - both the good ones and now only bad ones). So, I tried sending a photo from my iPad pro, on regular copy paper. I printed perfect, borderless and lovely. No banding. So, I tried a few more, on both the 8.5 x 11 and 13 x 19 premium paper. They are great. What one earth is going on? I tried searching on epson's trouble shooting and on google. No insight. I just don't understand. And, of course, though the printing mishaps, I quickly emptied the first set up ink cartridges and already had to install the new ones. Also, what I didn't know is 13 x 19 is considered Super B+ paper. And, when feeding the large paper through the back (where you have to feed it), you get an error that it is out of paper when the print in partially through. If you hit cancel on that message, it cancels the entire print job, ruining the paper and wasting ink. So, just ignore that message until it finishes the print or put another piece of paper in carrier to clear that error. So, I am not entirely sure how I feel about the printer. When it works, which is a 50-50 question, it seems quite lovely. But, when it doesn't, it really doesn't. In an effort to save money by printing myself, I am not sure that I am actually succeeding. At the end of the day, with the losses of ink and paper from the mystery of 'will it or won't it print correctly', I may be better off continuing to support the print shops I have been going to. I really was hopeful, but am now disappointed and out approximately $1000 after buying the printer, extra ink and very expensive paper.

Great printer!! One tip, I tried using the Epson Ultra Premium Matte Photo paper with the likewise Premium Matte setting on this printer and it came out grainy but I just changed the setting to Plain Paper and it worked BEAUTIFULLY! Not a single pixel can be seen. Also the cartridges (black primarily) did go fast for me. I was printing on 8.5x11 and about half the page was dark so black was used a lot. I made about 30-40 test prints trying to figure out the grain and color settings 😭 Worth it though to figure out how to use it for amazing looking prints I'm using for bookbinding.

The Canon Pro-10 was a tank. It was quirky from the start. I had a lot of trouble getting it connected to my network, then gave up and connected it via cable. It was really slow. Then after a while several of its colour inks refused to flow. I tried all the maintenance solutions to no avail. The Epson XP-15000 is so much lighter, quieter and easier to use. My only complaint, easily remedied, is that colour prints come out over-saturated compared to what I see on my screen in Capture One. The black&white prints are more detailed and punchier. Well done Epson!

It's the best value on the market right now. I'm coming from an old Epson Photo 2200 with archival inks; the resolution and vibrancy of this printer are far superior, especially considering it's available at a fraction of the cost. It is hard to justify the higher-end models from Epson or Canon, as this has the same picolitre size; therefore, the only difference really lies in the archival inks. If you don't need the archival inks (most of us do not), then this is the best printer in today's market for the money – VALUE.

It prints photos that are truly professional quality when using suitable photo paper. I couldn't find anything else at a comparable price point that offered six colour ink. Competitors want twice as much money for a similar printer. \r\n\r\nI wouldn't recommend it for printing office documents, though. The inks completely saturate cheap office paper and bleed right through. Using proper ink jet paper is a must. Even better, using glossy photo paper makes for absolutely stunning results.

first few days , setup easy, first 4x6 glossy print on old Fujifilm paper was excellent.\r\nselected printer for home photos after 5 years of no photography/printing.\r\nprevious epsons 860,1160,2200,R1900\r\nexcellent vivid color of cartoon image - dragon, gnome no special care in setting up printer. cant find profiles for Epson paper(not good)\r\nWill use Red River as they have profiles\r\nwill see in next few weeks if works for portraits, animals, B&W

I just purchased the epson HD XP-15000 wide format printer and couldn't be happier with the amazing colors and very easy to use and the quality of the prints ate vibrant and this printer is a must have for the beginner or the professional. I own my own studio and this is going to make a flawlessly looking prints every time and also the ink cartridges are very affordable so if your looking for an outstanding wide format printer this ids the one to get :)
