I got this calculator to perform vector calculus quickly and easily. As I already have a TI-89 Titainium, the CAS was nothing new and I was used to having symbolic integration and differentiation capabilities. This was like that, except better. The color screen and pretty print are nice features as well. The 3D graphing on here also beats the Titanium by a long shot. It is quick and useful. The only bad thing is you can only plot in Cartesian (x,y,z) coordinates. I'm sorry TI, but if someone knows how to plot 3D graphs/is working with them frequently, they are going to use the other coordinate systems as well. I am thoroughly disappointed by the lack of support for spherical and cylindrical coordinate systems in the 3d graph mode and integration/differentiation. I tried to talk to TI cares.... what a joke. Like applying for a job with them, their customer support is just as bad. No response and it's been a week.\n\nIt is really not that difficult to add this feature and I've debated coding something myself but unfortunately TI has made a tremendous effort to lock out users and pander to standardized tests (makes sense). So I expect them to think of these things and add them. Any engineer there has dealt with these coordinate systems.\n\nBattery life is great, I carry this thing on me and over the past 3 weeks it is still at 75% with my high use. I have charged it for a little when it was plugged in for < 10 min but other than that it has been on its own.\n\nLayout/menu is nice, keyboard shortcuts take a while to get used to, but you can press crtl+[trig] to see a help menu that explains it. Also, vector calculus in the cartesian coordinate system is a breeze and thekeyboard makes entering and using vectors/variables a snap. I wish it was qwerty but then it wouldn't be allowed on a lot of tests, and the designated letters are a significant improvement over the letter/number + alpha key style way of typing.\n\nOverall I am mostly satsified and I feel that this product is a much better value than a $100 calculator (like a ti-84) that has pathetic hardware specs and probably costs $5 to build. I would recommend to a friend, especially if they do not have a TI-89 titanium already.

This is a great calculator. The features are fantastic and I love being able to enter formulas exactly as they appear written down. This greatly minimizes errors during formula entry.\n\nThe battery life has been a concern from some, but I have not really seen an issue. I used it ALOT in one week and only used half the battery. They say that it should last 2 hrs /day for 14 days and I'm using it more than that. I did have one hiccup when charging it for the first time that I'm not sure what happened. It only charged to 75% and never went further even after charging all night. After resetting it, it correctly shows a fully charged battery, but I'm not sure why the hiccup.\n\nOne issue I have with this calculator is that it definitely is not for beginners. It takes a certain amount of know how to find what you're looking for. There is a Help feature, but unfortunately, there isn't any kind of per function help (eg. what exactly is the dbd function and what is the function expecting as input.) Instead, you have to go lookup the function on a computer. Also, there is NO PRINTED GUIDEBOOK. I don't get why this is a trend, but I'm getting tired of manufacturers not printing out a guidebook for a $140 calculator. This thing has a ton of features and most I don't know about because I despise having to read through a PDF on a computer.\n\nPlus, a word of warning not particularly of this calculator, but of Walmart. Walmart shipped this in a shipping bag. Not that big of a deal if it shows up undamaged, but there is almost NO protection to the calculator during shipping. In addition, they had to send me 2 because the first one never arrived. When UPS showed up at my door, the bag was empty which meant that I had to file a claim with UPS and notify Walmart so I could get another shipped out. Thankfully their warehouse is close so I didn't have to wait long to receive the replacement calculator.

I was very excited about this product. I anticipated doing alot with the device, as I am a High School math teacher. When getting the product however, I was overwhelmed because it is so much you can do on the device, and I would like to be trained. I anticipated it so much, I didn't stop to question myself "will I be able to function it properly?" But I feel overall it was a great purchase, and once trained on how to use it, or just exploring it on my own, I will be able to use it fine and incorporate its capabilities in my class daily (especially since I have the CX CAS Version) which was actually cheaper than the CX.\n\nLikes:\n* Wall charger\n* CX/CAS program\n* Color Screen\n* Save Files Functions\n* Many more functions that i have yet to discover\n* Price was Excellent compared to ALL other sources\n\nDislikes:\nIf I had to pick, it would be that\n* Its hard to remove the top cover when closed either scene open or not.\n*

There is a moderate learning curve. The touchpad is great but it takes a little practice. The CAS has solved problems and formatted answers better than my HP49g and I highly recommend it. I think TI should make it easier to graph vertical lines. I was disappointed when it could not graph abs(x)<3. I had to graph x>-3 then graph x<3 using the text tool. I would be nice to be able to enter x= equations a easy as you can enter f(x)= equations. I teach math at a university and at a highschool and linear programming often has inequalities involving x<30 and the like. Also when there are several layers of inequalities it can be a little hard to distinguish the feasible region. TI could make it easier to change the background colors. The gray scale CAS model did a better job with the layered shading. Overall I would rate this calculator at the top of my favorite calculators.

This is the first TI product I have ever purchased. It is the first scientific/graphing calculator I have purchased. Several of the reviews gave warnings about the learning curve. I went in expecting it to be tough. It is. But that does not mean it was a bad purchase. I think that if you are a novice then this might be the ideal product for you. You won't have to relearn how you calculate. It seems like this is the direction that hi-end calculators are heading so why not jump in head first? Think of it like upgrading to a fancy new cell phone. You know you like that. This unit has a free downloadable version for your computer so you can use it in a larger size and explore features in a familiar environment. Be sure to make use of TI's website and watch the videos that user's have uploaded on youtube. I also bought the TI NSPIRE for Dummies book and it is a huge plus.

This has WAY more functions than I would know what to do with, but was required by my child’s school for her math classes. She showed me how it was used and I was impressed by the screen, imaging, and how is could connect to the computer to upload. Things have come a long way since I had to get one 30 years ago! I really hope she uses this into college, because these are not cheap for the high school requirement. But as a machine, these have always been the gold standard for their time. Anyone going into a tech/mathematics/engineering field will probably use the functionality the most.

Wonderful and easy to use calculator with a load of features. Most of these features you can either look up or fiddle around with by yourself to figure out but all in all, it's super handy for the higher level maths like calculus and probably even multivariable. This calculator might seem a little frightening to the everyday person, but once you learn a few features and incorporate the CAS system, it'll be the only calculator you'll ever need. Works for any and with every level of math so it'll last you throughout your mathematical life.

This is a "state of the art" calculator allowing the advanced mathematics student to concentrate more upon theory and principles than working out tedious raw calculations. It provides a means of sense checking answers. Overall, it has a wealth of functionality and is beautifully designed and packaged. Possession of one of these devices will encourage a student to explore mathematics even further! Every serious math student should have one. Highly recommended!

I just love this hand-held however, found a bug in the software version 3.2.01212.\nWhen using the wizard for LinRegBX or LinRegMX the program does not separate the\nx-y data with {}. This causes the system to give a syntax error. I have downloaded the\nlatest software version but need my own laptop to link-up. Will wait a few months,\nthen I will buy an HP-ENVY-dv7 7250us to load new software.

Hands down the best calculator on the market ... I've been teaching math for 25 years and have been using the Nspire for the last 13. (This is the 4th iteration) The operating system is able to be updated so as new features come out, it's easy to add to this device. I use these daily in my classroom. No competition. It was purchased for my daughter. This model closly matches the type of calculator that my daughter needed for her classwork in high school. So far, she has been quite happy with this product. It is also an approved device that is allowed for use during PSAT and SAT testing. I would recommend this calculator for others.

This is the calculator my son needed for his Algebra class. It works as expected and can be used on the SAT and ACT because it doesn't have the CAS feature. It does have a really old school mini usb charging port which is kind of strange for a modern calculator.

The battery life is great, and it has so many amazing functions. Honestly, it makes me a little less motivated to learn the content, but technology has done this to society on many facets. I'd definitely recommend it for calculus, algebra, and stats.
