I've now had my beautiful new Maytag 5.2 cu. ft. washer for 6 months. I waited this long to give me time to learn how to use it and work out any bugs there might be. It has a huge capacity. I'm not sure I'm in love with the water capacity it decides to use for different loads but I don't have overly dirty clothes so it does do the job. I am a 68 year old woman whose last washer was at least 20 years old and still worked pretty well. I wanted a new one to be able to wash comforters and not have to make a trip to the laundry mat. Two times just washing my king size sheets, this washer has gone off balance and about shakes itself over. Never seen anything like it. First time it scared me to death. I have always carefully loaded big loads making sure they are balanced. I don't know what that washer does to the sheets but they were on one side and the shaking was crazy. I would never leave the house with this washer running. Therefore, I can only give a 3 star. The dryer works great, no problems.

I bought this washer and dryer set on Black Friday 2025 & it was installed on December 8. Fast forward to weeks and the washer was leaking. My husband pulled it out to make sure the hoses and everything on our end was correct & they were sealed tight. The leak was coming directly beneath the washer. I called Home\n Depot and b/c of the holidays they couldn’t get a repairman out until Dec 29. The repairman came out and said a “valve” needed to be ordered and replaced. They came back out and it was replaced Jan 7th. \n\nThe start button for the washer and dryer are annoying! You have to tap the power button and then hold the start button for 3 seconds & almost always it doesn’t work and you have to try again. Very aggravating first impression of this unit!

When we could no longer get it repaired we had to buy a new one. We do not like it much at all. In its attempt to be “efficient”, it uses half the amount of water and twice the torque in our clothes. They come out so wrinkled. This can’t be good on the fabrics. On top of that, the cycles take way too much time. Half the time, the machine stops and we have to go rearrange the load so the cycle can finish. I work away from the house and can’t do that. I do not like nor enjoy all the lights and beeps on the deck either. What has happened to the simple washers we used to get?

We wanted a simple machine without a lot of bells and whistles and that is what we got. Only complaint is limited product documentation. My old machine let me choose water temp for wash and rinse. This one lets you choose water temp but I couldn't find anything that confirmed my hope and suspicion that rinse temp would always be cold. Had lots of vibration on rinse/spin cycle. through trial and error, we determined we could pause the cycle, it would unlock, we could redistribute the load, and all would be well. Of course that means someone always needs to be in earshot of the machine when it is running. Not optimal for busy lives, but at least I now think I understand my options. Oh for the good old days..

I bought this Maytag top load washer 2.5 months ago. I ignored the noise it makes when filling with water, but when in spin cycle it squeaks very loudly. No, It isn't unbalanced nor off-balance. I got in contact with Home Depot, who referred me to contact the Maytag website. A Maytag technician stated they can't do anything for me and I should get it serviced by another technician in my location... This let down has proved to me that Maytag, doesn't honor their warranty and is no longer the company that we were used to. Meaning their machines are no longer built to last. Thank you Maytag, as I will.opt for a future purchase of an (LG), that is rated better than a Maytag.

The noise level is high enough that you can hear it through the walls with the laundry room door shut. Some normal loads to all heavy loads requires the machine to make "gear" clanging noises with each rotation. Loud enough to reach across the house.\nThe water level, when left to its automatic settings, does not wet the clothes thoroughly to show they have been washed. Some clothes from EACH load will have dry sections to them with body order smell. I have to manually increase water level to HIGH and all clothes come out washed appropriately.

Did not know that this non-agitator model used so little water. It sometimes looks like that some of the clothes do not get fully wet. Hard to get used to and do not know if it cleans as well as our old Maytag washer. We are not sure if the detergent is mixing well with the water before the wash cycle. It also seems to take a long time to start. May return this model for the old-style agitator model. It is a lot quieter than our older model. And hopefully we are saving on water usage.

I'm not impressed with the auto sensor for knowing how much water it needs to wash whatever you put in it. The water barely covers the laundry, and sometimes doesn't! I've started using the manual setting which is medium or high. Several times I've had to re-wash clothes that had fabric softener smeared on some of the items. It was not over crowded, and I did dilute the fabric softener in the dispenser, per the instructions. I want to love this machine, but I don't.

I have had this washer for almost a month, doing 4 or 5 loads a week. This washer is very, very noisy! Which is important when you have a “great room” floor plan with washer & dryer in one corner with kitchen and living room. When I turn it on there are two loud clanks, pause, then one clank a little less loud. It is very loud again when it fills with water. My suburb is known for low water pressure. Also, the lid is locked the entire time. So you can’t add any last minute items. Also you can’t check the water and soap levels to see if they need adjusting. I would not buy this washer again due to my complaints.

I also dont know why theres no spot to put in softer rinse so I had to go back to using a Downey ball which im not a fan of. The drain and spin cycle which should just re spin extra moisture out of the clothes, which somehow were still very wet proceeded to fill with more water instead. Theres no cycle to re spin clothes? Drain and spin cycle lasted for well over an hour! The clothes do get very clean though.

The machine vibrates more than I expected, so I am wondering whether this a problem. I am also unsure what the purpose of the "Extra Power" control is. I have not found situations in the online instructions that suggest turning it "on". What is it for? It took a while to figure out how to turn the machine on, but I think I have that down now. I just have to keep my finger on "Hold to Start" until all the lights have gone on and then remove my finger quickly. I would love to have had a more complete instruction manual in paper format delivered with the machine. Looking for instructions online gets confusing and overwhelming. I do like the size of the machine and the simplicity of the controls. Love the clear window!

Had to adjust the water flow to keep high grade hoses from leaking. Not a fan of the metal drum over the plastic. Off balances more easily than Bravos. Detergent tray is flimsy. Normal soil level is weak. No interest in ading another machine to WiFi. At least it fit through the laundry room door. Unimpressed and underwhelmed.

I bought this washer because I have a very small laundry room and it was one of the few brands that would fit. I like that it has an agitator but dislike just about everything else. It will not fill with water unless you use the “Bulky Items” cycle but it does try to at least wet the laundry. Somewhat. Air bubbles are created that keep fabric out of the water. I don’t have to feel like I’m gonna fall in when reaching for my laundry. The clear top lid is another feature I love! it makes it so easy to see inside the washer without having to lift a heavy lid. \n\nThe deep fill wash, temperature, and power options are also a big plus for me. They guarantee that I have full control of the way my Laundry is washed. My clothes come out clean and fresh every time.\n\nWhile I think it's a good washer overall, I wouldn't say it's anything extraordinary. But if you're looking for a reliable washer I would recommend this. Especially considering the brand is Maytag which has a reputation of lasting a really long time.

Gift for friend. ___ main thing I like is the metal top/lid. @ glass top loading are more fragile ___ hate that ALL MODERN washers uses control boards (cheaper to replace than fix) also coins get stuck under agitator ____ id prefer the larger 4.5/4.8 basket but the agitator "pole" is a major downgrade with gimmicky features @ might as well spend $$$ and do a full step upgrade (save money choose smaller -or- go for the full upgrade @ $300+)

I like everything about this washer Except its inability to balance sheets every time I wash them. It doesn't matter if I wash one king sized set or two, the sheets end up in a wet ball and the drum is unbalanced, requiring me to pull out dripping wet sheets and placing them back in the drum balanced. Needless to say I need to clean the wet mess off the floor and side of the machine afterwards. I've even paid for a service call only to be told put more in the drum. \n\nThis was by far the most expensive washer ( and matching dryer) I have ever purchased and yet the less expensive ones of the past did a much better job of balancing sheets.
