USDA Hardiness Zones 3a - 8b Height 5 - 6 Feet Tall Spread 5 - 6 Feet Wide Partial Sun to Full Sun Fire Light® Hydrangea is a large hydrangea shrub that you can grow up to zone 3! This plant is extremely durable and hardy, perfect for people who do not have time for a lot of maintenance or that just cant seem to keep plants alive! The shrubs gets up to 6 feet tall, and produces large creamy white flowers that change to vivid red towards the end of the season. This plant was bred to have really strong stems, perfect to hold up the enormous flowers this shrub produces. These bushes make for great beautiful hedges, mass plantings, or as a tall thriller in garden planters! The strong stems are great for cut flowers to dry or use in vases and bouquets as well. These are also great for foundational plantings in the garden. Fire Light Hydrangea Care This shrub is extremely hardy, and can be grown up to zone 3a. Prune Fire Light Hydrangeas in late fall or early spring. These plants grow flowers on new growth. When you do prune, cut back no longer than a of the total length of the branch. Plant these in full sun for best performance, however it is best to provide some shade in the afternoon if possible in warmer climates. The soil should be well-drained to prevent root rot. We also recommend using 2 to 3 inches of mulch around the base of the shrub to help retain moisture and to provide extra protection during the winter. Fertilize Fire Light Hydrangeas in early spring using granular fertilizer formulated for woody plants, like a rose fertilizer. Fire Light Hydrangea Spacing When planting, space the Fire Light Hydrangea 54 - 72 inches apart, center on center. To create a hydrangea hedge, plant these 48 to 60 inches apart center on center. If you choose to use these in garden pots, only use 1 plant per container, as a tall background that really likes to show off.
