USDA Hardiness Zones 3a - 9b Height 4 - 5 Feet Tall Spread 4 - 5 Feet Wide Wow! The Incrediball® Hydrangea has the largest blooms of any hydrangea! With blooms as big as 12 inches wide! Hydrangea arborescens 'Abetwo' is a smooth hydrangea bred by Proven Winners ColorChoice®. The large blooms are also on very strong stems, that are able to hold the flowers upright, which is a common complaint of Annabelle hydrangeas. The flowers emerge in early summer as light green, then turn to white for most of the bloom period, then back to shades of green later in the year. These are great for cut flowers for bouquets and flower arrangements. This shrub is native to North America and a great pollinating plant as well. Beneficial pollinating insects also enjoy these enormous flowers. This shrub is something that will stop your neighbors in their tracks once they see it. A truly incredible plant! Incrediball Hydrangea Care This hydrangea is very hardy and easy to care for. Plant these in a location that receives partial to full sun, or at least 4-6 hours of sunlight per day. It prefers moist, but well drained soil. We also recommend adding a layer of mulch to help protect roots from extreme weather conditions, and also to help retain moisture. It is best to prune Incrediball hydrangeas in early spring. Cut back about a of the total height of the bush. This will encourage new growth and flowers throughout the year, as well as improve the strength of the branches and stems to be able to hold up these massive flowers. Do not prune back to the ground. Fertilize in early spring, before new growth starts. You can use general woody plant slow release fertilizer such as rose fertilizers. This shrub blooms on new and old wood, so the shrub will still bloom after very harsh winters, even in zone 3! Incrediball Hydrangea Spacing Plant Incrediball hydrangeas 5 to 6 feet apart, center on center. These also make beautiful privacy hedges. In order to grow these as a hedge, we recommend planting 4 to 5 feet apart, center on center. These shrubs can also grow in very large garden planters, but will need extra winter protection in colder climates if you choose to plant these in a pot.
