Roses require a good inch of water a week minimum and should be planted in well draining soil of an average quality, pH of 7.0 neutral, but down to 6.0 is tolerated. Prepare your site by digging a hole that is 1 times larger than the root ball, and amend the native soil if needed to create a crumbly, loamy soil.
