Smart Solution Antifouling Paint, Gray, Quart by Sea Hawk | For Boats | Boat Maintenance at West Marine. Metal-free Smart Solution antifouling paint helps to keep our boating waters clean. Engineered to be the most effective, environmentally-friendly antifouling paint available, metal-free Smart Solution Antifouling Paint helps to keep our boating waters clean. Unlike traditional copper-based antifouling paints, Smart Solution delivers equivalent performance using metal-free Econea-which does not accumulate in the environment. As an ablative paint, Smart Solution wears away with use, which reduces paint build-up along with the need for sanding when the time comes to repaint. Controlled wearing is complemented by the coatings reaction to saltwater, which creates a slick film that encapsulates the hull, providing enhanced speed and premium performance against growth. Not for sale in States where prohibited by law. Key Features Metal-free formula is better for the environment Creates a slick film when launched Copper-free Compatible over existing antifoulants Reduces drag for increased speed Physical Data Type: Metal-free ablative Finish: Semi-gloss Available Colors: Red, Bright Blue, Dark Blue, Black, Gray, White Components: 1 Curing Mechanism: Solvent release Solids by Weight: 75% +/- 2% Solids by Volume: 63% +/- 2% Coverage: 288sq.ft/gal. @ 3.5mils. Another way to determine bottom paint quantity is to estimate the approximate surface area of the hull below the waterline, using the following formula: Length x Beam x .75 = Approximate underwater surface area in square feet. Each paint has a theoretical coverage area, but most paints require at least two coats, so you can expect actual coverage to be no greater than half of the theoretical value.
