Walgreens said Wednesday it was continuing to lower prices as part of its “Summer of Savings” promotional campaign, this time on more than 1,300 products.

Walgreens is slashing prices on more than 1,300 items, including name brand and store brand products, the company announced May 29. "Walgreens understands our customers are under financial strain and struggle to purchase everyday essentials," Tracey Brown, Walgreens chief customer officer, said in a statement.

Prices for vitamins, tampons, facial cleanser, lotion, box fans and chips have also been lowered, the company said.

Walgreens is joining other retailers in cutting prices across the board, from snacks to toiletries and even Squishmallows, in an effort to lure back inflation-weary shoppers turned off by high prices.

Walgreens announced Wednesday it would continue to cut prices on some 1,300 items — the latest company to pivot to value amid signs U.S. consumers are experiencing spending fatigue.
