The cold-hardy Frost Proof Gardenia plant is known for not losing fragrant blooms even in unexpected freezing weather. If youre looking for a great hedge or foundation plant that wont lose its flowers even after late spring frosts, this bush will work perfectly. The Gardenia shrub grows in an upright growing habit that supports shiny, dark green leaves and lovely smelling white, 2- to 3-inch flower bulbs. This gardenia smells awesome while in bloom. The gardenia jasminoides does best with more direct, full sun compared to other gardenia varieties but can grow in partial sun, or morning sun with afternoon shade if in extreme temperatures with cold snaps. The roots do best in well-draining soils.
