Full Sun (At Least 6 Hours Of Direct Sunlight)Mature Height 18 - 24 InchesMature Spread 24 - 36 InchesGrowing Zones 2 - 8What takes a garden from humdrum to fantastic? Texture!! Grasses are a great way to add texture and color to any garden, and Purple Lovegrass is an excellent choice. Purple Lovegrass provides texture and color in a magical package with fluffy seed heads in stunning purplish pink. As a warm-season grass, this dreamy display of textured pink and purple comes on in late summer and fall. Unlike many grasses that can get out of control with spread and height, Purple Lovegrass is tidy and well-behaved with a softly mounding, low growing habit.Purple Lovegrass is a tough plant that will survive where other plants do not. Hardy from zone 4-10, this plant is native to Central and Eastern North America found along roadsides and in sandy fields. Purple Lovegrass is deer resistant, not prone to diseases, and tolerant of hot conditions. It is an excellent choice for mass plantings, small groups, borders, meadow gardens, and native gardens. Purple Lovegrass CarePurple Lovegrass prefers a location with full sun. Plant it in sandy or rocky soil that is well drained. Purple Lovegrass tolerates a wide range of soil pH levels from 4.6-7.9. Do not overwater Purple Lovegrass, as it has lower water needs and is drought tolerant. Fertilizer is not required for the plant to thrive. Purple Lovegrass will go dormant in the winter and will benefit from seasonal pruning. Cut back the foliage to the ground in late fall, winter, or early spring while the plants are dormant to promote new growth in the springtime. Purple Lovegrass can be mowed a few times a year if used as a lawn alternative in a location with light foot traffic. Plants can be divided and transplanted when they are dormant. Purple Lovegrass SpacingPurple Lovegrass will reach 18-24 inches in height with a spread of 24 - 36 inches. Space plants about 2 feet apart for a mass planting.
