Description
The Green Giant Arborvitae (Thuja standishii x plicata) is the new "it" plant when it comes to planting fast-growing privacy screens! This is because they have gorgeous emerald green foliage that is naturally pyramidal, dense, and consistent throughout the year. Furthermore, once they're established in your landscape, they're capable of growing 3 to 5 ft. per year! They reach 40 to 50 ft. tall and 10 to 12 ft. wide at maturity, so you can cover quite a bit of space with these beauties. Their thick foliage makes them champions when it comes to dampening road noise, cutting out nosy neighbors, blocking heavy winds, and filtering air pollution. Additionally, they're disease and pest resistant, and rarely have problems with deer. They're hardy in USDA Zones 5 to 9. Plant them in Full Sun for best results and water your new plants 2 to 3 times per week for the first growing season. They tolerate many different soil types and qualities, however, avoid areas where standing water is an issue. During the plants early years, fertilize in early spring with a slow-release balanced fertilizer (especially if your soil is poor quality). These Green Giant Arborvitaes are healthy and well-established in 2.5 qt. (#1 or trade 1 gal.) pots and will be 18+ in. tall when shipped.
